in the world of sports cards, there are 1/1's that are worth 3$. Scarcity is not the entire equation so this information is really solid and can help keep a level head in a strange/surging market. Always love your vids, keep 'em coming!
Just a theory. Mathematically, you might be able to estimate how much more demand a modern 10 alt needs to equal a vintage 10. For example, a low pop vintage slab selling for around Moon price is the Shining Karp unlimited psa 10 from Neo. Pop 62 out of 4300. Moonbreon Pop 13797 out of 18383. Take the rarity factor of 0.0144 for Karp (62/4300) and compare to 0.7505 for Moon (13797/18383). To find the demand multiplier of the Moon to the Karp, you would divide the Moon by the Karp, 0.7505/0.0144. That is approx 52 times more demand for moon than Karp. I can see the current demand of the Moon being 52 times the Karp. Assuming both are selling for $2k. Karp had last sale of offer accepted for $2k on Oct 10th per 130pt.
On average rarity matters though. Rarity is just as much a factor as demand. Also, XY POP´s, for the rarest cards, are far under 1000. I do agree though, the Umbreon will probably stay up because it has become the ´era defining card´, along with the Giratina from Lost Origing. Other than those two I am a lot less sure about the other Alt Arts. Let´s just say that I would rather own a PSA 10 POP 500 Rayquaza from Ancient Origins than a POP 10.000 Lugia. Both are popular cards with popular Pokémon, but the difference in rarity can play up if hype shifts just a bit.
Agreed. Too many people overrate supply, and never consider demand. I made the example on another video that the hair on my head is ultra rare, only I have it, but that doesn't mean I can go and sell it, lol.
It just depends on the card. You can’t say manipulation doesn’t exist because you can clearly tell when a card is being pumped. Look around how many alt arts tanked when sword and shield was going crazy a few months ago. Majority of them dropped to were they were. if people actually wanted them then why did most not hold. This is just one example not saying it’s the same result for every other cards.
Let me as you this. What is easier to manipulate a modern cards with a higher market cap and 10s of thousands of copies? Or a vintage card with less available and lower market cap. Think about that...
@@NostalgiaNomics then explain how cards like 151 charizard or mew ex from paldean all of a sudden jump 2-3x as much in a matter of 1-3 days, that’s considered normal?
@@NostalgiaNomicsyou don’t have to buy all the copies to manipulate the market, also manipulating can happen with multiple people. I agree however one difference is one person or ten people are less likely to move their product which probably keeps it stagnate longer. But in the same token it could effect the market more if one of those people sold way lower etc... however if the card has more people it is more likely to move in some direction. Not always a good or bad thing just a difference of the market with little or lot of supply.
“The riches are in the niches” was my first thought when I got in the hobby. And I’ve made some good flips on stamped cards for sure. BUT, grading modern chases is the way to go. Its a bit of a pyramid scheme in that way where if you convince others to do it they have a smaller chance and if they convince others whether intentionally or not, smaller still til it reaches a point the only people who wouldve bought those cards for a collection won’t anymore because they realized the prices are artificial and meant to prop up 25,000 ‘investors’ who don’t have an interest in the card but rather just money. But if no one is collecting and everyone is ‘investing’ it becomes less and less sustainable. For everyone. Don’t get me wrong i buy a lot of cards and bought a lugia v for that reason, that i thought i wouldn’t be able to later. and im Not saying you are all wrong, but youre criticism is harsh to the point of showing bias. You’re criticizing people and some go too far and need to hear it. Low pop is cool but just one type of cool. And only is especially cool if the card is especially cool. But modern cards are dangerous just look back at other more modern cards that peaked. When the investors need to pay bills and fomo wears off it becomes dangerous. Are you ready for the responsibility of convincing a lot of people it was a good idea if it doesn’t turn out to be? Not saying your wrong just be weary.
somewhat off topic, but do you think it's worth trading 3 booster boxes for the pikachu right now? I've got two sealed BB cases, so I'd open one and still have one sealed.
@RichPokePicks If it were me I wouldn't personally becuase i believe the pikachu will come down but that's me..

Stop thinking about rarity start thinking about demand. Grey Hat Pikachu 👀
This one is for the Vintage Timmys out there
Hobby Grifter Smpratte is FUMING watching this right now🤣
I honestly just want english alt arts but with Japanese depth and texture 😭
I just can't get my head around spending big bucks when I know Japanese looks so much better.
☠️
i can honestly say you and besides myself were one of the few people who understood modern alts in swsh were a superior play to vintage that's why people like pokebeard missed the boat on the real floor prices....while they all tried to say vintage was the play i was scooping alts all day before the alt boom lol
It’s not that serious there’s way more people who were doing this than just the two of you lol.
@@thedrixperspective no doubt but how many of y;all got 5+ lugia v alts? more than 10+ glaceon vmax alts? very few people did what i did back then that's why evo skies is jacked up because people like me i admit i contributed lol) I've seen very few people on the scale of alts that i went into and even fewer people who still have all of that like myself. It may not be serious to you since you're a timmy but too me it is that serious, to me i'm all in obviously not going into poke debt but all in on the amount of fun money i burn towards this hobby
@@restockshock2710 Bro you aren't the only one that's the thing lol. You have no idea what other people did. You can call me whatever names you want but you thinking you're the only person who did this is cringe.
@@thedrixperspective ok name someone you know who has 10 glaceon vmax alts besides me or 5 lugias i'll wait bet you won't even come up with 10 people in this hobby littered with millions of collectors now I'm sure there's probably a few thousand collectors that do have what i got in terms of raw alts and more some i'm saying none of those people have posted or shown that much off including pokerev or ctr i know ctr has a huge celebi collection and he's probably the world's largest in ownership of that said card, you're saying i'm not the only one i got no idea what others got? ok name someone on my level or above in terms of raw alt art collections i'll wait
@ lmao dude you are small potatoes your ego is insane. You are literally a drop in the bucket nobody compared to collectors who don’t go around bragging about what they have.

Well put, once the economy gets back on track since we have a president that's a billionaire and knows economy. There will be more demend then supply prices will go up. On collectibles

Growing up in the 90’s, modern alt arts are way better than plain vintage square holo doesn’t matter if it’s a vintage charizard. I’ll rather collect modern alt arts😊

LOL. Calling out vintage bros who judge modern collectors. It's hilarious how "purist" they are, while slowly losing touch of reality.
Vintage collectors cant wrap their head around Moonbreons GOATness and that 10million people want this card and not their vintage holo foil ? POp RePoRt : 5 bRo
Do me a favor and stop making videos and fix the stock market today k thanks!
