@jacobtorres7102 Timmy, I never said he was a financial advisor, anyone can give investment advice from their own personal perspective. He displays a much higher IQ and level of reasoning compared to many others, remarkably similar to my own intellectual capabilities. I make my own investment decisions, I use information he gives us to help influence how I approach Pokemon TCG as an investment. What exactly are you being triggered by Timmy? Do you not have enough money to invest? That's a shame 😂
I just started my sealed collection, i have a limited budget but seeing it grow slowly really brings me joy i haven't felt in a while! you channel has helped me alot, thank you for the great content Alex!
The hardest and best lesson I learned was to stop listening to all the noise and just buy booster boxes of sets at good prices. Keeping it simple has cut down my losses significantly.
my main goal as someone who's starting again is getting 2 PC ETBs at the very minimum. 1 to open and 1 to hold and whenever I go to the store, if there's any regular packs there of the recent release, then i'll get some or if there at the right time online sure. That's how im doing it
I can definitely say that I've had a quick adjustment period to rejoining the hobby this summer. Went too hard early on picking up more product than I should have, but I don't regret what I did beyond the eventual process of selling it when the time comes. Using ebay now to build rep selling off duplicates of mostly new, but some old, cards to be ready to sell the acquired sealed items when the time is right. I've got a plan, it just took me getting over the rush of restarting the hobby to find it.
Im a solid collector, and I absolutely love HOW i enjoy tour hobby!! Now with that said, I enjoy opening what I can. I love the whole process, sleeving the cards, adding them to the appropriate binder. I also keep some stuff sealed, whenever that's possible... it's not a HUGE sealed collection, but it's what I CAN AFFORD
Alex inspired me to start my store, we launched today! love you Alex!!! long live Nostalgia Nomics ❤ We are small but we are having fun on this journey
What am I doing in the hobby? Easy. Sealed investor, singles collector. Buy sealed and hold until it doubles, however long it takes(I am pretty stubborn so I will wait) then sell half to reinvest. Keep the rest for years to come and let it build up. One day I would like to take some profits on this to put into singles and slabs to have a go at vending(it looks fun so why not) but that will have to wait a while. Singles I buy what I like when I think the price is fair and plan to keep them forever because I enjoy them and they are a collection not an investment. I collect commons though PSA 10's of Pokémon I enjoy. There may be more active ways to make more money in this hobby but this suits me for now. Love the content man!
Appreciate how you’ve branched out in terms of the content you make. Even if me or other people sometimes disagree with what you say in terms of investing advice, I think it’s good you encourage most newer people to become collectors first before trying to branch out into actually sinking serious money into the cards or product. Feels like so many people now are getting lost in the weeds of trying to 2x or 3x their money or buying the hottest card instead of taking things slowly and pacing themselves. Good video
We've found that staying up-to-date on all the set-drops has worked for us. We came up with a budget that fits our goals and our finances, and we stick to our purchasing schedule. As a collector/player/investor, it's takes mad discipline; not to act on FOMO, not to BUY everything, not to SELL everything, not to OPEN everything, not to CHANGE the plans/goals for the 100th time, you name it. But it is FUN. You gain a lot just actively being in the hobby. But it's not for everyone
From someone who used to race every weekend of race season, competing with other people's wallets is incredible advice. You will not win the numbers game. You may invest smarter, or operate the car faster, but people with larger wallets can take much bigger risks, which will yield much bigger rewards. Honestly, I started collecting sets, my wife asked why I buy products and not open them. We put crown zenith, scarlet and violet base, and 151 set together after, and it was the most fun I've had in the past 2-3 months of collecting. I even bought some car parts (much more expensive than pokemon, to an extent lol)!
I love that you aren't narcissist, keep being you! some of these content creators are difficult to watch and think they know everything and their word is the only word

So many gem quotes in every video I wish I could plaster on the header of every Facebook group, subreddit, and discord. Super appreciate your perspectives! Would you consider official Q&A vids outside the live stream chat? I feel like that’d provide some great jumping off points for a variety of topics to expand on that might not warrant a whole video but still need to be addressed.
Thanks for your advice. I'm just a collector. I will sell when I'm older.. It's coming up to start selling some of my toy lines, too. Pokémon will be in about 12 years. Depending on how healthy the hobby will be. Everything seems to have 10, maybe a 15-year cycle and possibly longer. The economy plays a big role, too.
Steady Eddy. I’ve been following for a few years and keep doing what brought you here. You’re continually being proved right and cautioning newer hobby goers is good.
Thanks man. You really do have good advice. I went and bought a couple hundred bucks worth of SIR/IR under 10 bucks. You're not wrong. There is some seriously incredible ones. Quite a few from my favorite artist Akira Egawa
That's is crazy that you made this video because I was going over this same questions on my head, for me I love collecting cards and creating a set, its a conversation started and gives me a chance to play with my kid since she likes pokemon too. But when I see that you have to open 1000 packs to finish your collection and there are so many expansions coming out constantly freezes me and I get lost trying to figure out what to do.
ALWAYS SPEAKING FACTS 🗣🗣💯💯....i only collect sealed for investment....but for enjoyment i buy psa 10 of the cards i really like wether goes up or down i dont care its for the love of the artwork on the card
Great advice here. Run your race and concentrate on your own journey. There are always people out there that will have more money than you. It is hard to compare without context, so don’t even try. Great video Alex.
I think the best play right now in Pokemon is to buy any of the new sets coming up or pick your favorite Sword & Shield set and sit on them until 2026 at least. 2025 is going to be a wild year for returns in every market.
I was able to pick up three booster boxes of surging sparks from my local card shop, for $125 a piece. Is that an automatic buy price? Should I go back and buy more?
Alex, your knowledge is the best and most simple!! Your videos are solid and I love to listen to all of them. Keep rockin and kicking tails!! Best content by far!
I am new... ive always been into the video games main series of pokemon. But TCG Pocket got me addicted to that game and has really got me wanting to start collecting the real cards as a new hobby and also probably collect unsealed boxes as a small investment. im invested in many things and this would be cool to have in my porfolio . this is why i been watching so many YT channels like yours on Pokemon cards. This is all new and exciting for me.
Great video! Scale up organically with your best interest in mind. Finances and interest. If you’re new and start with collection boxes, but notice you want more chances at the chase, buy a booster box (if you have the $). Then you run into investing content and realize this stuff goes up and you want to open one in the future when it’s hard to get? And you can afford it? Buy a 2nd for the future. Maybe you sell that 2nd box to go towards buying the Pikachu SIR in the future when the box is up and the Pikachu is stagnant. This is me up here ^. I’m up to 3 booster boxes per set with the intentions to open all 3. I open 1, keep 2 sealed. But I’m open to selling if something I want that was previously a chase but drifted too far above my means is now more affordable by selling my pc. I just sold all of my non SIR 151 dupes during this craze and received about $350. My chase from SWSH is Giratina. Seems more obtainable and not a big scary $350-$400 card.
Came back into Pokemon by absolute chance. I pulled manga luffy from OP-TCG sold it and got some sealed Pokemon stuff with it so started collecting sealed. My goal is to collect everything possible from this era and come back to it in years down the line for when my daughter needs something when she’s older.
Good points, Alex. I agree that the only comparisons investor/hobbyists should make is Pokemon vs other investable assets. My take is that you should collect what you like and invest in what other people like. Needless to say, no one should spend beyond their ability to be square with their debts at the end of the month.
My daughter is 2 right now, so my plan is to keep collecting whatever I can get for a good price so we can tear into them when shes old enough. Have her watching 1 episode of pokemon a day
I feel swsh has been sidelined a bit and it may be a decent play to grab more sealed booster box. In the UK we still have fusion, astral and brilliant stars still at PC. Seems like a simple play to me as a sealed investor and pretty sure they won't be reprinted again now
I want to collect all the houndooms. And collect some other ones that are my favorite and just enjoy the hobby. If I sell some I sell some but I’m not in it for the money just collecting. People are jumping in because they see how some people are making good money on this and quitting their jobs. I love my job I’m a full time plumber and dad. Pokémon is becoming like the sneaker reselling game. I’m not mad at it I’m just annoyed by people who complain and count other grown men and women’s pockets. Keep doing your thing bro and giving great advice always love on this side.
Makes sense. Surging sparks will be above $160 and below $160. You need to have a plan at what price to get in and to sell. And in order to take advantage of the market swings you needed to be set up to move. Start selling on tcg player or ebay or wherever. That way when the market moves in your favor you will be ready. Its always good to take a step back. Nice job alex.
I do not have a large capital for Pokémon cards. I tried to buy at least 2 to 3 booster boxes of sets that I believe are going to do well. My goal is to dollar cost average how much it cost me per box so one box to get my money what I invested in the two boxes, and then hold onto one to see if it keeps growing in value to reinvest into upcoming or newer sets.

Love this vid. Have a plan! You have a great way of getting your audience to think along with you and follow a logical theory. I know exactly when I plan on selling out my stock of surging sparks. I like many are waiting for 200+ a box because we know it will come to that point. Otherwise I do believe the new pikachu is at min a 400 dollar card. no joke. I have 1 for myself, but Im looking for deals on more. Otherwise I plan on buying older sword and shield or other scarlet and violet sets that haven't had a run yet. (ofc prismatic evolutions is on my radar.)

I’m getting a booster box of each set at the best price I can and just getting into PC ETBs with surging sparks, I have 3 I’ll get what I can in the future. Those and booster bundles are my 3 products.
Hey Brotha, I have enjoy our conversations all be them brief over the past week, I am making Pokemon Content now, but not selling nor investing nor anything else like that, I am simply documenting my exit from Magic as a player of 30 years and how i'm converting over $20000 to Pokemon, keep it up friend! Good Stuff!
I dont know what im doing. But its worked well. Ultimately i focus on buying cases and sitting on them. I buy smaller products for fun to either sell and supplement buying the cases or rip with my kids. I recommend going with the ebbs and flows of the market and not being afraid of grabbing stuff on the way up. I was laughed at for buying evolving skies at 350 a bb.. 😂
Im out here playing IRL Pokemon. Personally iv been back in this since 2021. I just like the chase of tracking down Evo Skies boosters and stacking them away. 😂
I know you made mention of not responding to comments, but I hope you get to read this one and respond. I was curious about your thoughts on the card game Lorcana. I'm trying to get my wife into card collecting and she doesn't necessarily care for pokemon. However, she loves Disney so I thought I might take a step in that direction. What are your OPINIONS on Lorcana? I will not take this as investing advice for liability reasons, but I was curious if you think it's even worth trying?
Any Dragon Ball God Rares in your personal collection? I pulled the Ultra Instinct GDR from Perfect Combination the same month Akira Toriyama passed away. I love Dragon Ball also! You got a beautiful VHS display I see so just wanted to ask you. Take care man!

Fvkin LOVE your vids Alex, dude is literally Pokemon's version of Ted Talks hahaha. Keep it up brother, genuinely love your perspective
Great advice as always Alex! 🙏🏽💯 if you want to stay in this hobby you have to evaluate your investments and adapt to the market stay in 📈
Very refreshing vid! Thanks 🙌🏼
Alex do you rent any storage facility to store stuff how do you deal with space?
@@Edwin582 nope. Just 24x48x72 heavy duty shelves. 1 of those can hold 100 booster box cases and doesn't take up much space
Good Stuff!
Straight facts 💯
Great video as always Alex!
What is your take on value of sun and moon era? Which set do you think people are sleeping on?
Sun & Moonn had a pretty big rise this year. Not a lot of sleeping there..
Brother dropping bombs of info out here 💪
I've got a very simple Yes/No question for you: how many booster box cases should we generally get every set?
Yes!
Hey I'm collecting an illustration rare binder. Just got 60 cards super cheap, don't tell everyone! I still need more
I dont know what im doing. 😂
Another great video as always❤
Im out here playing IRL Pokemon.
Personally iv been back in this since 2021. I just like the chase of tracking down Evo Skies boosters and stacking them away. 😂
🐐 great video I needed to hear it
I really appreciate your advice!
!Great video!
Grade cards, sealed product and holding onto product 1+year or more.
I'm glad you said that about the single game Alex 😂
You nailed it man. Great take
The should I hold or sell questions is ridiculous
Awesome video, keep it up bro.
Good takes.
I don't know a ton about it but I had a livestream with someone who is into it so this may help!

What are your thoughts on investing in Temporal Forces?
I think it’s a hidden gem. I’m new to this though and could be wrong.
I feel the same way. I like that set.
Any Dragon Ball God Rares in your personal collection? I pulled the Ultra Instinct GDR from Perfect Combination the same month Akira Toriyama passed away. I love Dragon Ball also! You got a beautiful VHS display I see so just wanted to ask you. Take care man!
