If I hear the word nostalgia one more time I'm going to blow up the sun and end us all! It has so much less to do with investing than you people seem to think, I have been a pokemon fan from the very beginning, yeah I'm a 90s kid, a TRUE 90s kid who was actually old enough to remember when pokemon started not some dirty scrub born in 1999 who thinks they're something, but does that mean I base all my investments around the first generation pokemon? NO! "Nostalgia" is such a limited and ridiculous way of planning your investments, especially when it's based on the perceived nostalgia of other people. Invest in surging sparks and prismatic evolutions, not because they're nostalgic, but because they contain multiple cards with actual value. You're welcome.
That’s why I believe so much in sets with bonafide chase cards of really popular pokemon. Like surging sparks has pikachu, Latias, and hydregon which all are extremely popular and will continue to appear in pokemon media for a long long time

Temporal Forces and Paradox Rift are heavily slept on. I think give it some more time and those sets will go up in value more. People will start to realize they're going out of rotation and how good the set really is.
@Radiator_Bacon personally I'd go with Temp Forces just because I really love the artwork on so many of the cards in that set, but it's a tough decision. Paradox Rift is right there too.
Imo, it will increase back up to around 120 mid next year but wont see much price increase after that. There is a lot of inventory that major pokemon tcg stores have bought for it. We will need them to clear those inventory to even start going up. Then you have to consider seller fees and shipping. Imo I don't think Temp and Paradox are good investments unless thinking long term 1 year plus. It's better to preorder the new sets coming in 2025. 2025 is going to be a crazy year with team rocket and trainer cards. Better to save your money for those.
I keep buying both for like 106 shipped I expect a price floor of 150+ once this stuff dries up. Less chase-y sets but they're absolutely brimming with decent overall value without being as much of a soul crushing gamble. Fire art.

Was able to get 3 cases of surging sparks pc ETBs last Friday on release day before they sold out within the hour. And picked up two booster boxes at my local flea market for around $130 USD each. I’m good with holding that
I wish paldean fates had more IR, but I think the bubble mew is still undervalued even with its recent increase. I can see it going past $300 and hang in the realm of sir greninja and gengar
Agreed. I do think that the lack of many IRs and just 8 SIRs (5 trainers) will only add value to the big 3 in the set though. Who doesn’t want those 3 shinies?! I think that Iono is probably too low at the moment as well.
Rip and Ship is awesome for people who just want to buy a few or more packs or to try and complete a collection. I bought for the first time on Kath_Astophe's channel and it was exciting to be a part of and reasonable priced. Today I opened 96 packs of Paradox Rift (to try and complete my master set) - two booster boxes and 24 sleeved boosters. The best card I pulled was Vanillish 190 IR. Brutal! But on Kath's channel she pulled Steelix for me! I think sometimes, (based on luck) other people are more lucky than me.
I was able to find a Twilight Masquerade box on eBay for only $100. Due to them being cheap I bought a second one, so I could open one and keep one sealed. I still remember getting a Unified Minds box at a comic store for $100 and getting awful pulls, I wish I never opened it considering it’s price now

Considering the increasing amount of fake booster boxes, it might be cool to see what you look at when you try to buy (older) booster boxes. Like the Pokemon seal, the text in the bottom of each bb, what do you need to check before buy on eBay and co.?

You cant track profit on shiny as you sell. You just have to delete it 😫 hope he adds on a sold section that you can move it to listing what you sold for and record profit %
i bought a pc etb case and a booster box case for surging however with not getting a main set for almost 6 months that has boosters i dont see these prices holding thats just me personally but if it does then hey good on the people who got that pika at 400$ but with it not being a holiday set and christmas coming up it just seems a little out of whack
I love your content and your rational behind your strategies. Right now im on the fence between buying a BB of evolving skies or a case of surging skies. What would you say is the best investment option in this current market?
Swsh seems to have been stagnant other than evolving skies, do you think we have already hit the ceiling on that era? Or do you think we will still see sun and moon era price levels someday?
Surging is not quite as good as ES but its the next bedt modern main set and way more fun to open. I am parking money there because without a massive reprint this set is going to go bananas and with a big reprint still in the long run its a great box. I also like fusion, chilling, paldea, and temporal but the play right now imo is surging.
@@MMK86 @ not all sets get reprinted. Historically you have about an 18 month window. 151, TM and SS reprints have to fit in between prismatic and rocket prints. Let me know where you think TF fits in.

How is ES not investable? It's easily the best modern set out there, just because its $700-$800 now doesn' mean it can 't go to a couple grand like Team Up. Even Rudy himself said ES will be 2k-5k a box someday because it's way better than any other set.
@magnificcenTCG from a % viewpoint I think the rest of sword shield will make bigger moves in the next couple of years. ES will help pull it along. And team up has way less boxes out there then ES.

When Chilling Reign/Fusion Strike was $150 and ES was $300, ES still beat them on the double. When Gold was $2k and Bitcoin was $10k, I think you get the point.
@magnificcenTCG sorry I was using Australian dollar. And yes it doesn't always play out, that's why I invested into evolving skies in 2021 and then invested into chilling reign and fusion in 2023. I saw evolving growing first which gave me time to get other sets after. And while evolving could go to $5k Aus at some point. I see the other sets making some moves when people start to see the spikes and price points will hold people back on ES while they will still be willing to pay $700-$800 on other sets but not 3-5k on ES. I truely believe 4 chilling reign booster boxes is a better investment than 1 ES box right now. But yeah, all speculation.

Its cheap and the magicarp iona and tyranitar have some value. But it's so cheap atm that even a 60 dollar etc will double your profit

@@mybedvt I think a 5 year horizon for sealed is ideal for most people unless you need to free up capital often
Got two of each S&V but went for a case of TM. Got them at £80 ($100) per box so was quite happy with that. Love the work as always

Supply and demand really mate. The demand for that set was so low in comparison, based on how bad the set was.
Because pokemon Go set is absolutely terrible, and the market knows its bad, nobody wants it.
