A friend of mine's father was the drummer for Bolt Thrower. It's awesome to see their style being referenced to this day! May he rest in peace. Martin Kearns!
Omg Orbit Culture I had 0 expectations for that It's great to see them getting more recognition their such an amazing band Btw they actually have their own Sad But True called Mirrorslave, Niklas said he wanted to make a song like SBT and he did
I just recently discovered OC and they are quickly becoming one of my fav bands! Unbelievable I'd never heard of them before... Anyway, when the OC part came on, I actually guessed In Flames (I like to guess wich bands he plays, fun game!), but was pleasantly surprised it was OC! Awesome!
How about asking other UA-cam musicians play Your riff in Their style? I mean, there's bloody pandemic rolling through the streets, why not make a massive collaboration and all of them can post there perspective on this. We freaking love y'all, just help each other out and have massive fun...
Bolt Thrower and Megadeth were my favourites. As groovy as the original but each in a different way. Black Vail Bridges stands not far behind those though. Great job with all of them as usual :) I'd love to see Thank You Scientist in one of these someday ;)
Do a one riff 20 bands for Tool - Vicarious As for bands to do any riff: Mushroomhead Fallujah Boris Bongzilla Unprocessed Fellsilent Extol Deftones Sybreed Minus The Bear Genghis Tron ...
Wow, this was probably favorite one you've done by a long shot. So many good riffs. I really liked the Testament, Orbit Culture, and Shadow of Intent ones. I'd like to see Allegaeon make it in there one day
Honestly, this feels so similar to repeating the same word over and over again, where it just loses all meaning. Man, this riff just goes further and further into the void of nothingness the more you listen haha.
Devin Townsend - The Hummer 🤣🤣🤣 I'm going to keep trying to get Extol in one of these. I also think Flogging Molly would be awesome. Alestorm got me thinking about Turisas. This is the series that keeps on giving!
I'd love to see a making of one of these. How you pick the song, whether you go through deciding on styles whether you just think of different ways to play and who that artists could be or reverse.
Bolt Thrower and Testament were definitely my favorites. You should do more Animals As Leaders and Toska for the next time! Edit: I also digging the Shadow of Intent one, that was great!
Do one for Thunderstruck and have a Dance Gavin Dance, August Burns Red, Veil Of Maya, Phinehas, The Black Dahlia Murder, Erra, Rise Against, Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, Thrice, Crystal Lake, Chon, Four Year Strong, Silent Planet, The Ghost Inside, Soilwork, Ice Nine Kills, Pvris, Converge, and Counterparts versions of them lol.
@@VasKurtas Just edited the comment to get it to 20 bands btw lol I'd add them in maybe next time but I do remember BTBAM was in once. I wanna see some other bands on it.
Thanks a lot for doing these, Pete! These are great fun, really. Having seen 6 or 7 of these vids, I'm amazed at how you nail the characteristics of most bands in a single riff. I'm admiring your musical vocabulary and the clear breadth of taste. Keep up the good work, focus more on music and less on plain entertainment - there are far too many clowns on UA-cam. Thanks again :)
So many good ones! I think my favorites were the Black Veil Brides, Status Quo, and Willie Nelson ones. The Willie Nelson version sounded like it was the original and Status Quo's was the old-school rock & roll cover that got even more popular. And it would be really cool to hear Project 86 as one of the band styles- or one of their songs done in various different styles.
Was not expecting BVB in there, but damn! Jake and Jinxx are extremely talented guitarists whose work I enjoy very much, despite the hate they get. It's dumb that they got written off by the haters for their first album, because everything since then has been great (although I couldn't get into Vale, since it isn't a style I normally would listen to). Their rerecording of We Stitch These Wounds is amazing, though, a testament to how much they've grown in ten years or so.
That fuckin sure is their heaviest riff & it sounds great that was one of the riffs I used to jam on my squire through the 30watt Peavy anp I had...- with my best friend who is a drummer. Thankfully I had 2 distortion pedals to slap the gain up into the sky the riffs sounded great & then I'd just stop and hold the strings while soynds came out in a piercing wailof feedback
Great video. How about using some of these for future videos? Fates Warning, Hatebreed, Taproot, or 3 Inches of Blood. All of them would be a good style to use, or have great songs to which to apply 20 styles.
Thanks for watching everybody! Which bands should I do next?
Like the guitar tones? Check out STL Tones Amphub here: stlton.es/k
Attila
Stone Sour :)
In This Moment or Type O Negative
How about Metallica in the style of Amon Amarth, slayer, buckcherry, Steve vai, Jimi Hendrix 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
Avatar.
A friend of mine's father was the drummer for Bolt Thrower. It's awesome to see their style being referenced to this day! May he rest in peace. Martin Kearns!
Why have you never done one of these with the ten second songs guy? Seems like an obvious pairing!
That would be PERFECT
And also make a whole song in one of the styles!
This would be fun in style of Avenged Sevenfold... oh wait.
This means war XD
When I listen to this means war all I head is "candy shop" by 50cent
Dillon MacPherson lmao brooooo someone should make that mashup
I see what you did there
Shiiiieeeettttt xD
The spiritbox one sounds amazing!
Of course : it's Spiritbox!
lowkey sounds like holy roller 😂
@@tarquinball that's what I thought :D
Omg Orbit Culture

Im the one who suggested it to get more people into it, they need to blow up ASAP. lml
Me: "I hope the Megadeth one is done in the style of Holy Wars."
Also me, at 4:21 : 😌🤘
sounds like he heard megadeth once and thought "ok just add nerd shit"
When Metallica plays there last show, they need the last song that they play to be "Hit The Lights".
I’m betting their last show was that drive-in thing.
JC Dwyer no way
Mason Mead dude I really hope you’re right. I just got some “over this” vibes at a lot of moments in that drive in film.
Their*
I highly doubt the drive in show was the last. They'd likely do a farewell tour.
How about asking other UA-cam musicians play Your riff in Their style? I mean, there's bloody pandemic rolling through the streets, why not make a massive collaboration and all of them can post there perspective on this. We freaking love y'all, just help each other out and have massive fun...
Lul, as if they would give a shit about some noones asking them to do sth, they've got a lot of both work and money to be bothered
eblanator govna id do it
Bolt Thrower and Megadeth were my favourites. As groovy as the original but each in a different way. Black Vail Bridges stands not far behind those though. Great job with all of them as usual :)
I'd love to see Thank You Scientist in one of these someday ;)
You could have done it in the style of Avenged Sevenfold and just played This Means War. 😂😂
That's what I thought lmao
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He also missed an opportunity with Psychosocial, playing in the style of Metallica (St Anger Era) and literally just played Frantic lololol
1 riff 20 bands Beast and the Harlot a7x
Yes!
Do a one riff 20 bands for Tool - Vicarious
As for bands to do any riff:
Mushroomhead
Fallujah
Boris
Bongzilla
Unprocessed
Fellsilent
Extol
Deftones
Sybreed
Minus The Bear
Genghis Tron
...
Dude I love the fact you threw Bolt Thrower in there 😅 that's awesome! 🤘
Wow, this was probably favorite one you've done by a long shot. So many good riffs. I really liked the Testament, Orbit Culture, and Shadow of Intent ones. I'd like to see Allegaeon make it in there one day
Still waiting for 1 riff 20 bands: Misirlou
The Testament one could easily fit onto "Dark Roots Of The Earth" or "Brotherhood Of The Snake"! Great job, Pete!
Yes
Am i the only one to try to do it like a blind test each time ?
Next riff suggestion : Insomnium - Weather The Storm
Honestly, this feels so similar to repeating the same word over and over again, where it just loses all meaning. Man, this riff just goes further and further into the void of nothingness the more you listen haha.
One of the best and heaviest riffs from Metallica imo just got even better. Awesome video as always man can't wait for the next one
I was expecting this means war by A7X in one point hahaha amazing video as always!
Square Hammer (Main Riff)
In the style of:
1. Ghost
2. Metallica
3. Megadeth
4. Anthrax
5. Slayer
6. Static-X
7. Meshuggah
8. Death Decline
9. Korpiklaani
10. Soundgarden
11. Led Zeppelin
12. Motely Crue
13. Primus
14. Mr. Bungle
15. Deftones
16. The Offspring

19. Limp Bizkit
20. Type O Negative
Square hammer like the warmth - incubus tho
Square Hammer: South Park Style
Devin Townsend - The Hummer 🤣🤣🤣
I'm going to keep trying to get Extol in one of these.
I also think Flogging Molly would be awesome. Alestorm got me thinking about Turisas. This is the series that keeps on giving!
I love that you did The Hummer! Your facial expression, your pose; everything was perfect! How about Rivers of Nihil next? Do you have a sax?
I'd love to see a making of one of these. How you pick the song, whether you go through deciding on styles whether you just think of different ways to play and who that artists could be or reverse.
3:00 This sounds like train of consequences by Megadeth.
man, that tone is pure filth! love it! (PS - could've sworn Bolt Thrower was Pantera)
I was gonna say Disturbed, lol
Everything is pantera bro
Bolt Thrower and Testament were definitely my favorites. You should do more Animals As Leaders and Toska for the next time!
Edit: I also digging the Shadow of Intent one, that was great!
The Obituary riff sounded like that could've been on St. Anger.
The Sultans of Swing main riff would be awesome to do.
Also missed opportunity to play "This Means War" by Avenged Sevenfold lol
That Killers riff was great !
You absolutely nailed the Rammstein version dude.
I'm still waiting for the day where you use a gojira riff for one of these
definitely
There have been several. Watch older videos
@@thanesmashmontages412 of course there have been older videos, but new riffs in the style is always appreciated
flying whales could be good
just hit the high open stings in between the phrase
I didn't realize the potencial od this riff for modifications. Great video!
Rammstein officially has to cover Sad but True now. That was too awesome.
This would have been cool in the style of Alien weaponry
Very very good.
Testament, Rammstein, Obituary, Bolt Thrower, Ihsahn, CoB are spot on!!!
Pete, I really enjoy these. Thanks for doing them!
Yeah, and I would add BTBAM and Protest The Hero
@@VasKurtas Yes sir!!
@@VasKurtas Just edited the comment to get it to 20 bands btw lol I'd add them in maybe next time but I do remember BTBAM was in once. I wanna see some other bands on it.
Well, he did some bands more than twice, so...
@@VasKurtas Oh, I know. That's my point though, I think people are overkilling some of the same bands. Not so much BTBAM.
Did he ever do a Dropkick Murphy's one yet?
Since we're dipping outside of metal now.
Totally nailed this! Loved the testament version. Thanks for adding orbit culture, I suggested that.

We need a Pete Cottrell and 10SecondSong collaboration
3:05 that overtone(?) sounds so awesome.
Great variety of bands in this one! Some I’ve never heard of that I will be checking out for sure!
A riff in the style of Voivod would be neat
Glad to see Orbit Culture is getting out there, such an amazing band!

Dude, You have real talent! It's amazing!
The beanie man strikes again with another awesome track...loved the status quo version 😁, again extremely awesome work 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
Lost it at the Willie Nelson head 🤣
I wasn’t expecting that one at all. I liked it a lot!
This was cool as hell, thanks!
1 riff 20 bands, War Nerve by Pantera \m/
What I play when im alone: 3:32
What I play when my mom walks in: 1:16
You're the man, loved it!
You should try doing a riff in the style of Psychostick. They've got some awesome poppin' bass lines!
You NAILED that testament part dude. 🤌🤌🤘🤘
This is real cool. Some very clever variations in here.
Hands down Pete, you write some of the catchiest fuckin' Riffs I can find on the net brother!!
Solid work ! I love it !
Please do Soundgarden's "Outshined" or "Spoonman" in 20 styles!
YOU MAD LAD PUT IN THE HUMMER BY DEVIN TOWNSEND!!! I'm rolling on the floor laugthing
please Tesseract
Loved "The Hummer" reference! What a great album/experience

Necrophagist's Seven in 20 styles?
Necrophagist's Seven but it's The Beatles.
5:23 I thought it was Sunn O))) for a moment
Ha! The bolt thrower one just sounded like a normal bolt thrower riff. Such a great band.
Testament sounded amazing \m/
Now I have to look up Bolt Thrower because that version was just awesome
Toska style should be on this ones more often
02 03 both one of my favourite metal bands
And the last on is from same country where i live
Que guitarra linda!!!
That was a funny nod to some of Devin Townsend's more obscure work.
Well I found several new bands I need to look up! Love it! 🤘
Wow. That was amazing. Especially the children of bodom and Testament.
Testament, Bolt Thrower, Obituary & Megadeth were awesome (also props for doing Alestorm, good meme)
As a lifelong massive A7x fan I fully expected this Means War to be on here. Sad, but true.
This video made me both crack up and subscribe :) Keep up the good work man.
PS. I need a 7-string.
Hey Pete! Can you do a vid on your picking technique? Love the vids!
Jinjer! Great job dude, keep em coming :D
Really hope Sevendust makes it into this one of these days
Please do a chevelle song
Rammstein proudly presents their new hit "Traurig aber wahr"
Your Guitar is so sick brother!!!! I have a red and black Celebrity electric guitar and Spider amp.
15: shadow of intent version is Gravesinger❤
That Willie Nelson one was sick, lol
Shadow of Intent, Alestorm, and Children of Bodom were awesome! We need more of the Shadow of Intent style ones.
Some suggestions:
Leprous
Nevermore
CABAL
Vitriol
The Prodigy
LEPROUS
do one in the style of Infest the Rats Nest era GIZZ!
Wouldn’t that just sound like Metallica?
Or even any other era would be cool to see
Logan Allomes I would’ve done FMB but like...how would he pull that off?
Maybe in the style of Polygondwanaland.
@@jewelcheese but better

Blackened is pretty sweet too, though & ONE is good shit to play with others
It would be fun to hear something in the style of Amon Amarth or Fear Factory.
Something in the style of August Burns Red, pretty please!
Appreciate the status quo riff. You should do the next video about them next
GREAT JOB!!
Really good playing and mix :)
Also, nice to know my ML7 PRO can handle a low G..
Spiritbox version was on point dude

Nice! was expecting some Fear Factory and/or Sepultura Style as well tho!
Do Toska !!!
Bolt Thrower, Isahn, Megadeth and Spiritbox were particularly AMAZING!
