3 Great Shoe Brands to Discover
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лип 2024
- In this new episode of Sartorial Talks, Hugo is presenting 3 brands which may be among the best values on the men's shoes market.
CNES (www.cnes.co) is a young company from Singapore distributing shoes crafted in Vietnam. Incredible value for starter shoes.
SEPTIEME LARGEUR (www.septiemelargeur.fr/en/), one of the best value for money shoemakers in the world (a French company with shoes crafted in Spain)
TLB MALLORCA (www.tlbmallorca.com), High end and (very) affordable shoes for the quality. An unmissable brand for shoe lovers.

Beautiful shoes, Hugo! I also appreciate that you wore them on the video, which is something I wish most UA-camrs do more often. Thank you.
I agree, we'll do this more often then! Hugo
Thank you always for the content Hugo and Sonya! Hugo those blue derby’s would not have been something I would have looked twice at online, but seeing you style them, they actually look very sharp!
Many thanks Kevin and I can confirm, this blue derbys by Septième Largeur are super sharp. Cheers, Hugo
Your voices, your perspectives are welcome and appreciated just now. Many thanks!!
You are very welcome Jenna. Hugo & Sonya
Dear Hugo, I apologize for the late comment. Thank you once again for such a great installment of Sartorial Talks! Also, thank you for informing us of these artists in the world of men’s shoes. I knew of Septième Largeur, but not of the other two. I trust that when a brand receives your endorsement, it is a brand I should get to know. I hope you and Sonya are well!
I purchased the CNES BQ1 Balmoral in black about a month and it’s such a nice shoe. Love it.
One other great thing about TLB is that one can do some customization as well. For example, the soles can be upgraded to JR soles, patterns, and lining choices, etc. Great suggestions Hugo!
Fantastic video as usual! I met Toni Llobera in person in the London Trunk Show in 2018. Very nice guy and shortly after I bought a double monk in burgundy. I loved the extra quality you get for a lower price than other prime brands. I've been wanting to buy the Artista style since it was launched, looks like the real deal.
Was awaiting this, thank you, Hugo!
Our pleasure Michael ! Hugo & Sonya
As always great informations, thank you Sonya & Hugo 🙏🏼 The 'blue suede shoe' makes it possible to be well dressed, when hiking in nature 👌🏼
Yes Hans, those blue suede shoes are really great shoes. Hugo
Thank you so much, for the invaluable information
Great session, no one can reach near your elegance.
precise input makes everything clear... you are a true gentleman, keep it up Mr Hugo.👍
Merci mon ami ! Hugo
Hugo cheers is always a pleasure to see the videos and information you share thank you so much 👌
You are so very welcome David ! Hugo
Hugo, glad to have you back. Bless you and Ms Sonya. TLB looks very nice indeed. BTW I love that blue suit. It looks like it has a melange effect to it. Always dapper. Do take care.
Many thanks! Hugo & Sonya
I am so fund of your videos that I watch it in French AND in English ! Thank you for sharing this recommendations and educating at the same time about how shoes are made and what we should pay attention to about the construction of it. The latest videos do not suffer of the absence of the shooting team, because we appreciate also this direct, intimate and simple way, with just Sonya and you. Thanks again ! PS: I’m going to order a pair of CNES loafers for the summer
Excellent choice Gilles. I advise you to shoot an email to Alan Lee (alanlee@cnes.co) in order to receive guidance for the sizing (as they don't use the same sizing as us). Of course, drop our name, it will not hurt! Cheers, Hugo
I will definitely do ! Thanks !
TLB seem to be a brand that I would love to get to know. Thank you for highlighting them on your channel
Great excerpt about TLB. Love their shoes!
TLB are excellent indeed. Cheers, Hugo
Thank you. Like many I look forward to your videos because the knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm with which you put across the information is great to watch. As I recently wrote on LinkedIn, there are too many people that lack the substance and integrity in what they do because they do not know their art or their business and are simply trying their luck. That has never been the case with Monsieur Hugo which is why it is always enjoyable to watch, listen and learn. I wish you and Sonia continued success.
Thank you so much Antonio for your encouragements ! It means a lot to us. Hugo
When you wear the last shoe, it’s beautiful, I love the color
Me too ! Cheers, Hugo
Refreshing to hear a person Jugo that is very knowledgable, presented well, refined. Not so arrogant Thank You Sir!
Thank you Jack you're very kind. Hugo
What beautiful shoes! I also truly love and appreciate your discussion about what defines quality in a shoe . Thank you so much :)
You are very welcome Anthony! Hugo
You mentioned Justin and Kirby, it's great to see how you all know and respect each other 🙌🙌🙌
Thank you so much hugo for introducing some brands that neophytes can start with.
I love footwear especially Basketball sneakers for the innovation and design, then Monsieur Jacomet slaps me back to reality and reminds me to grow the eff up and wear some man shoes! And I'm here for it.
Haha, this is great news my friend! And with three brands you'll be able to start on the right foot! Hugo
Wow. Amazing. Wonderful shoes at a very good price!. I will certainly look into them.
Great content❗ Felicitations‼️Many thanks for suggestions and links... Very useful 🙏
Many thanks Ciprian ! Hugo
wow this is great stuff thanks
Dear Sir, it's really nice to see reviews on some of these affordable good quality brands. Please at some point in time explore the Magnanni Brand from Spain. Thanks for the video. 👍👍
Incredibly beautiful shoes. Great video Hugo
Those CNEs are beautiful. Love the last and the waist.
TLB really do make superb shoes...!! Your jacket is exquisite, in fact the whole ensemble is just perfect...!! God bless and stay safe...!!
Many thanks my friend! Blessings, Hugo
Hugo you’re English is impeccable I could sit & listen to your voice all day long pure poetry & the video is par excellent as the usual standards
Thank you Muhammad, you're very kind with me! Yours, Hugo
Very nice shoes. I really like the TLB. The craftsmanship looks like a more expensive shoe. Thanks again for another informative video.
Dear Tony, the quality/price ratio of TLB is, IMHO, unheard of on the market. Cheers, Hugo
OMG - of course, another great video - but how extra-awesome is it that you mentioned ska and "One Step Beyond"! Haha - yes we are of the same generation! Looking forward to getting a membership, and thanks again for the episode!
This is a heavy heavy monster sound ! Cheers, Hugo
Once again Hugo gives wonderful information. I am making TLB Mallorca next on my list. Merci mon ami.
My pleasure David. TLB is extremely good. Hugo
Thanks a lot for this video! I have ordered a pair of loafers of TLB Artista line right after watching this!
Good choice Raphael, I'm sure you'll not be disappointed. Cheers, Hugo
Is this the first time I see Hugo in jeans!? Thx for the introduction to these brands, will check them out soon.
It's probably the first time yes! Cheers, Hugo
Great videos, I just discovered this channel and I’m quiet pleased.
Bien cordialement, Hugo
Thank you
At home France? If so happy to hear you and Ms. Sonya were able to travel. The blue outdoor derby looks very well done for walks. Nice selection overall
Yes John we are back at home in France at last. And yes the blue suede shoes are fantastic ! Cheers, Hugo
Nice review! With all the marvelous shoes that Hugo has, one could easily assume he'd be a snob but you don't need to look any further than this video to see how he can appreciate 'value for money' and more casual designs like that blue suede vibram soled shoes.
Haha, your'e very kind with me Raphael. Cheers, Hugo
Thank you for the great reviews, Mr. Jacomet. I know it is not the season right now, but I hope one of these weeks you will do an exclusive reviews on Chukkas, Chelseas and Jumper Boots of great brands. There are many reviews out there, but would love to hear your take on them.
I depends on your budget, but Septième Largeur is crafting excellent boots as well as TLB. Cheers, Hugo
Love the shoes from Majorca Hugo. In Glasgow where I live it is so hard to pick up Good Summer shoes .I purposely leave space in my case to buy shoes when I go on holiday. I've bought shoes in Cuba and in Minorca. Especially olive leather or light brown..
Loved the oxfords at that great price too. I'm in my 50s and never wear training shoes out ever so to see the blue suede shoes was a blast from my specials loving teens. Great episode Sir.
Thank you so much David for your kind and interesting message. All my best ! Hugo
Excellent review. I have the TLB also, beautiful shoes. I liked the blue shoes, I need some for my collection to be complete. Thanks.
Hey Franco, the blue "Gatsby" by Septième Largeur are incredible shoes. Cheers, Hugo
Great to learn about these shoe brands. Thank you Hugo. Would be amazing to see a film documentary made by you re your book topics.. European suit/shoe ateliers... also, would be great to see a video on your casual wardrobe. Cheers, Grant
Good ideas Grant, we have soooo many things to cover for sure. It's an endless subject !! Hugo
The TLB look amazing!
Awesome reviews. Watching from Nigeria
Cheers my friend ! Hugo
Love the blue shoes
First the champagne video and now this new video six days later? I am so happy to see so many videos, and the quality is consistent, in every sense of the word. You could maybe unbox a bespoke suit in a video.. but for real :)
Thank you Krunoslav ! We will do a series on bespoke suits for sure. Hugo
What champagne video? I cant find it. Could you drop the link?
@@almeladze Just search "Sartorial Talks: All sbout champagne"
@@krunoslavkovacec1842 Thank you. That one I saw. It's 7 months old though. I thought you mentioned that there was one last week. Thnx anyway.
@@almeladze Well I mentioned that in my comment which is also 7 months old :)
Great video as always Hugo. I own a pair of Gatsbys from Septieme Largeur. Mine are, what they call Chocolate Brown with a traditional leather sole. Also, I wanted to thank you for complimenting my MTO TLB Mallorca shoes on their Instagram page. They were the two tone Bleuchers in two tone Brown and Medium Brown Museum Calf. The fact that you said they were 'gorgeous' made my day. Eagerly awaiting your next video. Take care my friend. My regards to Sonya as well.
Hey James, I remember your pair on Instagram ! Beautiful for sure. Cheers, Hugo
Someone should go to Vietnam and do a documentary on these new breed of Vietnamese artisans, CNES, Fugashins and others. They are turning out great products at a good price through patience and hardwork for various brands all over Asia.
Of all your jackets, this would be my absolute favourite. Never seen it before though. Great work as always.
This is a bespoke blazer by Joaquin Fernandez Prats in Madrid. Cheers, Hugo
Lapels too big!!
@@SARTORIALTALKS Hi Hugo what is the fabric of the beautiful jacket? Is that hopsack?
@@raymondsoler5245 Hugo has a thing for big lapels.
Very interesting thank you. My poor wardrobe is straining under the volume of footwear I own already.... but these look hard to resist lol!
great 👏🏻 sartorial , Jacomet
Beautiful shoes!! Those Septieme Largeur would be great as an autumn or winter shoes, with the nice thick Vibram sole, your feet won't feel the cold. Gorgeous shoes.
I agree with you, those blue suede shoes are extremely versatile and gorgeous. Cheers, Hugo
Nice haul!
Thanks Anders! Hugo
You dress very nicely with an elegant background. The shoes really are beautiful.
As usual, I really enjoyed your video, your explanation, and your passion. I just bought my second pair of Ferragamo, and absolutely love them. My wallet didn't...
Haha, I know Arturo. It can become addictive! Cheers, Hugo
thanks for another great video! and thank you for doing videos about watches and other topics they are all great.
One of the most difficult things for me is to find really wide shoes on RTW, apart from some models from Allen Edmonds, 2-3 models from UK brands, and 1 last from carmina that is all that that there is for wide shoes in the entire industry (I am AE 11.5 EEE (US), the G fit from loake/herring is too tight for me so I use 11 H (UK).
I wish more brands would make RTW wide shoes for the ones who dont have the budget for bespoke.
Maybe you should try to shoot an email to TLB. I'm pretty sure they will be able to help you (drop our name, it can't hurt). Best, Hugo
@@SARTORIALTALKS thanks Hugo, I will give it a try.
Love the vids Hugo .hope you and your wife are well xxden big fan x
Thank you Denis! Hugo & Sonya
You had me at One Step Beyond
Madness is all my youth ! Hugo
I`m not so sure about the shoe`s being for me. However, I will say. The cut of the cuff on the trousers you are wearing to demonstrate the shoes. OUTSTANDING. I love your clothes.
Thank you Scott. These bespoke trousers have been crafted by Maestro Pino Peluso in Napoli. Cheers, Hugo
I like your theme tune it’s up there with “the gentleman’s gazette”
Those blue suede shoes in a word... magnificent.
Yes they are, and very affordable! Cheers, Hugo
Selvedge denim with the cuff...nice.
Thanks ! Hugo
I got the Artista line, it's amazing. The beveled waist and high stitch density is unheard of at that price point. Not to mention real leather heel counter which you don't see often for RTW.
Yes Andrew, TLB sets new standards for sure. Yours, Hugo
TLB Mallorca was my fav by far
The blue pair I own in leather. They are winter shoes for Toronto sidewalks are heavily salted with icy spots
Excellent, then it's a four seasons pair! Cheers, Hugo
Another great shoe video. Thanks. I hope your Shoes book in coming in English soon.
It's normally due for November. You can pre-order it by sending an email to hugo@parisiangentleman.fr Cheers, Hugo
The blue suede Septieme Largeur is a summer shoe? Wow!
My new summer shoes are Santoni Tassle Loafers. Beautiful.
Congratulations Philipp ! Hugo
@@SARTORIALTALKS Thank you Hugo. May God bless you.
Nice video I am a UK size 9 which is the same as size 43 I prefer to try on my shoes in the shop but because of covid I have no choice but to buy online.
“One Step Beyond” made my laugh 😊
Great content without your filming crew. Nice work! I liked that 2nd to the last shoe. I'd buy that.
You mean the Austerity Brogue by TLB ? Excellent choice. Wonderful shoe. Hugo
@@SARTORIALTALKS Yes, that shoe. Sorry but I had to leave and didn't have time to scan your video to retrieve the name at that time. Thank you!
Great video as always! I am interested to see your take on a shoe brand that I discovered and love that's called Jacques et Demeter, what do you think of their offering quality and quality to price ratio?
Artisan at work. Hugo is a legend. Fantastic presentation. Super jacket. Hugo, did u ever bought suits from Tom Ford or Zenya? Ties from Hermes? What perfumes u use? Thanku Hugo.
That's a lot of questions in one comment! No I never bought any suits for TF or Zegna (I only do bespoke). I never bought a tie from Hermès neither (I prefer artisan ties) and I wear "l'Anarchiste" by Caron (but this perfume has been discontinued...). Cheers Vasu ! Hugo
Thank you for these recommandations. I think I will try them all with time. But may I ask you to tell us a little about the leather quality of the CNES shoes? Since I think about buying some more shoes for this sommer this would be an option, but I really care about good leather that will last for a long time.
Hello M. Jacomet Its good to know that you were able to go back tou your home (i hope I had write it well) thanks for the suggestions, I hope you could made an episode for the best Made To Measure, thanks for your teachings
You mean MTM suits or shoes ? Cheers Jorge! Hugo
@@SARTORIALTALKS Suits
@@jorgejuanjimenezlopez6882 It's on the planning my friend. Hugo
As I watch, I'm excitedly conditioning, adding shoe creme (Saphir) and waxing a (second hand pair from eBay) of Alfred Sargent split toe derbies in mid brown pebble grain. Man, I'm in love x
Haha, I can relate to that. Hugo
@@SARTORIALTALKS You are rocking the peaked lapel, again Hugo - excellent.
First of all, let me start by saying what a nice coat you have on Mr. Hugo!
What im wanting to know is what shoes brands you personally wear if any "off the rack" shoe brands. I would presume your shoewear collection is predominantly bespoke though. Along with this, do you shine your own shoes?
Loved the vid and will definitely be checking out these brands you mentioned!
Great video 👍👌 I have one brand suggestion 'Leather Port' a Japanese brand
I don't know them but I will check it out ! Hugo
Something interesting was pointed out in the comments section of a Trenton and Heath shoe care video I was watching. One gentleman pointed out that when you buy a cheap cotton t-shirt, or a pair of blue jeans, there is a tag inside was care instructions. However, if you pay $300 - $1,000 for a pair of beautiful shoes or boots, rarely will you find so much as a slip of paper in the box, telling you how to care for your fine leather goods! This must change! You and Sonya have the ears of many in the business. Perhaps a word to a few of them could make a difference! ✨
Stay safe and healthy, and please pray for the USA!
Blessings . . .
⚡🔥🌊✨💙✨🌊🔥⚡
All lovely shoes!
Many thanks Andrew ! Hugo
Bonjour, merci pour tous vos vidéos de haute qualité. J’aimerais de vous poser une question. Qu’est-ce que vous pensez de la marque (Floris) Van Bommel?
Man, that's a nice jacket!
Mr. hugo jacomet we see a new blazer, I think you hiding many things. really I like what you wears. Thanks a lot
Many thanks my friend. I don't hide anything though. This wonderful blazer is a bespoke blazer by Joaquin Fernandez Prats in Madrid. Cheers, Hugo
To hear Hugo singing Madness has made my day haha
Haha thank you James! Hugo
Blue PP Oxford shirt, striped tie and wide lapel double breasted suit. British-American versus French continental style--interesting!
Great Jacke Sir.
Many thanks Bruce! Hugo
Thanks so much! CNES has narrow widths available! That's fantastic news for me. My feet are really narrow, and rattle around in regular width dress shoes. I've had a really hard time finding dress shoe companies that make ready-to-wear shoes in narrow widths, so this is really great news.
I'm very happy for you Chris, and don't hesitate to shoot an email to Alan (alanlee@cnes.co) to ask for his advice on sizing, he will help you (drop our name, it won't hurt). Cheers, Hugo
Great video Hugo! I recently purchased a pair of suede loafers from TLB Mallorca (from the ARTISTA line) and was quite impressed.
Strange question I have been pondering.. Would you rather have a French tailor (ex Cifonelli) cut a Neapolitan spalla camicia shoulder on an otherwise french jacket OR a Neapolitan tailor (ex Ciardi) cut a cran parisien on a Neapolitan jacket? Isolation has caused me to contemplate such crazy ideas like this :)
Dear Rory, I agree with you concerning TLB, exceptional quality and value. Concerning your question, although I know Cifonelli can craft any kind of shoulders, it would be highly counter-intuitive for their team to attach a sloppy shoulder on a Cifonelli garment. Same for the Ciardis who rarely use padding... The shoulder is the most critical part though. A notch is easy to perform in comparison. Cheers, Hugo
that TLB Mallorca prices are ridiculous! Thanks to the Hugo and my boy Justin (have shoes from him) for showing us this.
TLB Mallorca is setting new standards in their price bracket (and even above). Cheers, Hugo
Yay - more content and SHOES! And Madness?!! haha
One step beyond !!! Cheers, Hugo
I love finding out about shoe makers through your videos, the blue suede derby has to be my favourite there. I wondered if you’d heard anything about Officine Creative, an Italian brand, I wondered if they had a good reputation or if they’re more of a fashion brand?
Officine Creative is a pure fashion brand my friend. Not interesting and way overpriced IMO. Hugo
SARTORIAL TALKS thank you for the guidance!
Fantastic sport coat you are wearing in this video, Hugo. I would have to agree with you that the last shoes you showed us have the best value to quality ratio. Even though I’m an American I have no qualms with saying that Allen Edmonds needs to step up their quality game or they are gonna get beaten by all of this fantastic completion. I would love to hear your comments on the brand Beckett Simonon. They are a shoe company with a small factory in Bogotá, Colombia that makes small batches of shoes to order so they can have low overhead and thus keep their shoe prices very low. But the quality (at least I hear) is excellent. I just ordered a pair of oxblood wingtip oxfords and I can’t wait to receive them in September! Sorry to ramble on so long, just thought I’d mention this company to you in case you want to make a comment.
Dear Drew, I agree with you concerning AE. As for BS, I can't say anything for now as I have no idea of the quality of Argentinian leather and Colombian craftsmanship. I must try them for sure. Cheers, Hugo
Another shoebrand to look out for is Y by Yeossal. Beautiful shoes for a low price
Thanks Petter, Y by Yeossal are in the same price range as CNES for loafers but much more expansive for oxfords (and they distribute TLB in Asia). Cheers, Hugo
I enjoy discovery
Bravo Hugo...👌👌👌👌
Thank you Hughs ! Hugo
I have 3 brands to suggest, that are not so famous: Myrquist, Skolyx, Crownhill Shoes. Prize Range: 180-300 Euros
Myrqvist, 'v'.
Well these brands must be internet entrepreneurs as I don't know any of them. But thanks for the information. Hugo
I know this is an older video, however I was a bit disappointed that the second maker the French company does not offer a size of shoe/boot over 11 UK , I am a 12 and I really liked two of their boots .
Personally I have never been fond of the loafer style shoe but I have to agree with you that they definitely look much better without tassels, horse-bit or any other decoration.
Same for me Chris, this is actually the first loafers I really like. Hugo
I love socks and would love a video just on socks please!
