  • When navigating to and from fishing spots, anglers generally use their 2D sonar and mapping/chart features. Split position is a feature that can be tweaked to enhance the performance of your Humminbird Helix while navigating and fishing. These tips will enable you to see your screens in ways that will benefit both your fishing and driving experiences on the water!

A quick way to change between the two would be using your memory buttons. Just hold the selected memory button for 3 seconds and its saved to that button. I usually don't change it from 50 as I don't need more than half the screen for sonar history. A feature I just started exploring last fall was the bottom hardness feature. A video on that feature would be interesting to me.

The shortcut buttons if your unit has them are definitely a good suggestion. Anglers with SI units would likely have many other options as shortcut favourites. Thanks for the bottom hardness suggestion.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate your kind words. It’s a simple, effective tip that makes the key screens easier to see. I find it especially important when navigating to be able to use the bigger map.
