Budget isn’t an alternative. It should always be the first step. Never invest too much into something until you have experience. Start budget always, even if you can afford not to.

I agree to an extent; don't splurge a fuckton into something you know nothing about (duhh), but starting your buys with the lower-end stuff might mean you lose out on some high-end stuff if your plan is to buy certain high-end things in the near future regardless. The more common something is, the riskier it gets.

I started out collecting with budget in mind and it kind of bit me back. I could've bought a SDK Blue-Eyes but instead bought several different modern cards and now SDK Blue-Eyes is 3~4 times in value and out of my price range. I just can't see myself spending well over $10k on one card.

Recently started to invest in yugioh (mostly because of this channel!) by buying collection binders off of Facebook market place. Some are amazing, and some are a crapshoot - but definitely something that has helped build my collection, and selling some of the singles to make a profit, to then turn and buy more!

Should I get them graded even though unlimited? they are from 2002-2003-and were in my binder as well as a complete set of MRL unlimited. This channel is always super interesting and has definitely helped with my 'oldies' side of collecting. I'm assuming you're not a massive fan of ultimates, but so far they've been a really good investment (albeit not as big returns as old cards), but pretty good if you're on a budget. Super insightful video as always! I'm curious on what's your take on identifying whether a PSA graded card has been tampered with or if you have any tips on making sure that the PSA graded card is authentic? I'm asking this because there is a seller on Ebay that are selling a set of PSA 10 cards that I'm interested in. The seller is an experienced one with I believe 10k+ sales, but has had negative reviews and people on different forums online has mentioned that there was tampering with the cards they sell. @@solemnyugioh @Solemn YuGiOh They fit the criteria for what collectors are looking for-- rare, old, and iconic. Those early AE Duel Monsters sets are less rare than their Eng. counterparts, which means they're more affordable for people on a budget. Pop reports are also super low. Foreign language cards other than AE are a lot less desirable to collectors, and the later AE sets are really hard to find singles from for the hardcore collectors.

@@thevintagevaluesexperience4302 I completely agree. First editions will be good choice.
If you love yugioh, you will be fine, if you don't do too much profit. But the chances, that several sets will grow up badly over time is extremely high.
I mean, me personally were never thinking yugioh might grow in price like this a few years later. But still I invested in boosterboxes from first edition and I am still doing so. Just because it is fun. Also it does make me feel, like I am the collector. If I watch back now, I did put so little money on my boxes, compared to the price, I would get nowadays. But of course I am an low budget investor, who loves his boosterboxes. So I wont ever be able to sell them I think.

I think one should own legit assets and be financially responsible before they allocate some budget to something speculative like cards, BUT saying it's ONLY about PSA 10 1st is a bit short sighted. Do I think those are the grails and more safe? Surely, but plenty of stuff has seen plenty good returns that isn't part of that batch as well.

@@solemnyugioh Dont get me wrong i understand your viewpoints i have seen a lot of your videos you are on point. I am seeing this only from the long term investing point. Sealed old first ed boxes and as mentioned Gem mint Holy grails. Those are the real investments. Those boxes because they can contain gem mint holy grails. Of course other stuff can climb in value too. All the old and rare stuff is already pretty expensive so there isnt much left for people with not much money. The investors already picked out the gems now people are going for the left over stuff in hope to get rich quick. Buying ungraded cards as a new guy to the cardspace is super risky. Buying old boosters because you cannot afford a whole box is risky. Even a box is risky if you dont know how a real one has to look. Only buy from legit big sellers. There are scammers out there. PSA10 holy grails have the best risk reward for long term investing in my opinion. As you always say people buy like a Rage of Ra box way too expensive and think they become rich. I think a lot of people are going to get burned by just buying random stuff and that it is really hard to still find some hidden gems on a budget. And last but not least nobody knows nobody can predict the future. Incase you are reading this whole comment lol have you done a video about scammers and what to look out for to not get scammed, this whole scaled unscaled thing resealed u name it and to be careful in general for new guys to the yugioh space.
