Going to replace both lower control arms, both anti sway bar links, and the bar itself (2008 Impala) . Seems to be pretty straight forward and your video confirmed that. Very good job!

Excellent video. Very thorough and omitted no steps. Nice job. This procedure also applies to Buick Rendezvous, Pontiac Aztek, and the '97 and newer GM minivans (Venture, Montana, etc).

Thank you very much for the well detailed video. Im redoing all my suspension and brake parts minus the struts and wheel hubs on my Pontiac and since your cars setup is the same it should be easy going for me. New rotors new pads new sway bar pushing new sway bar end links and new control arms both sides. Thanks for the guide seemed not too difficult.

Just replaced on my 2009 Chevy Impala. My driver side lower control arm. And upper tie rods inner and outer driver & passenger side. (Thanks to your awesome video..!!)
But noticed tie rods and lower control arm doesn't have a spot to attach a zurk ball fitting to fill with grease. It's covered completely. So I bought a adapter needle to add to my grease gun.
**Where do I properly inject this needle into a ball joint and upper tie rod so it doesn't ooze back out?**

Great job, explanation for a relatively easy repair job, but those control-arm bolts should be dosed in wd-40 or similar, because they are the original ones and you don't want any rust or anything else that can cause breaking. I would take those bolts to a specific fasteners place, and replace them.

+klowny1969 your welcome. I'll check it your other video as well. Ire century discovered the clicking noise and think that's the issue. Sucks because I just changed breaks and rotors a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice anything..

when turning sharply to the right and accelerating right front wheel makes a rubbing sound and feels like it wants to pull in another direction. Only when turning sharply (I notice it mainly leaving from a stop) and accelerating sharp to the right. does it sound like a control arm issue? other then that car drives perfectly stright.

The ball joint nut, not really torquing that? Just get it as tight as you can?

@@klowny1969 I did front brakes on my 04 Grand Prix GTP yesterday, and noticed there was movement on the passenger side, which I assume would be ball joint play. Looks like this is the exact same set up as Grand Prix, so I’ll be doing this job soon too.

question is it possible that your rear right control arm if it's cracked really bad that it could cause the car to drive hard or different? alot of vibration when going at a certain speed.

    • @klowny1969

certainly possible..that can be a dangerous condition

Good job on the video. I don't understand why they riveted the ball joint to the control arm though. Why not offer a replacement joint that allows you to drill the rivets out, swap in the new ball joint, and then replace the rivets with bolts and lock nuts? That A arm is over $200, s stupid solution to a common wear item if you ask me.

+Randy Greenwald Replacement bolt-on ball joints are made for many GM vehicles & cost a fraction of a new control arm. Due to limited work space, drilling out & removing the rivets usually requires removal of the control arm but doing so will pay for itself in the long run. The bolt-on replacements are readily available from online retailers including Amazon.

Do u need alignment after doing both sides

On a 2009 Impala, I found you really should disconnect the strut. Otherwise, it is a pain in the ass if not impossible to get the ball joint back in. It was very hard to get it out without disconnecting the strut
