You have the BEST AUTO repair video's on UA-cam you tell the truth and demonstrate everything thanks for keeping It REAL I can truly say I have learned a lot watching your channel keep up the good work
Excellent video. Very thorough and omitted no steps. Nice job. This procedure also applies to Buick Rendezvous, Pontiac Aztek, and the '97 and newer GM minivans (Venture, Montana, etc).
Going to replace both lower control arms, both anti sway bar links, and the bar itself (2008 Impala) . Seems to be pretty straight forward and your video confirmed that. Very good job!
Awesome vid man, I need to basically re-do my front end cause of previous owners neglect, and this is gonna be a big help on saving me a ton of money for the control arms. Thank you!
Just replaced on my 2009 Chevy Impala. My driver side lower control arm. And upper tie rods inner and outer driver & passenger side. (Thanks to your awesome video..!!) But noticed tie rods and lower control arm doesn't have a spot to attach a zurk ball fitting to fill with grease. It's covered completely. So I bought a adapter needle to add to my grease gun. **Where do I properly inject this needle into a ball joint and upper tie rod so it doesn't ooze back out?**
Great video! Took my stress level about replacing the control arm on my 2011 Impala down several degrees. The only concern I have is that the bolts/nuts weren't torqued to a specific amount. Since I'm not an experienced mechanic, I typically try to do things like this by the book, especially when working on parts that could potentially fall off!
Thank you very much for the well detailed video. Im redoing all my suspension and brake parts minus the struts and wheel hubs on my Pontiac and since your cars setup is the same it should be easy going for me. New rotors new pads new sway bar pushing new sway bar end links and new control arms both sides. Thanks for the guide seemed not too difficult.
Must thank-you for this video. It was the details that you provided that made the difference. Wish I had watched your video before I got started! Thanks for taking the time to do this.
I’m looking to replace my whole front end….2012 impala ltz control arms, inner and outer tie rod ends, struts and stabilizer bar link. What should I start with first? Control arms, struts or tie rod ends? Thanks
Best DIY video I've every seen. Great photography, narration, and he even gives you the sizes of the sockets and wrenches! BTW, I think he likes "lube"! LOL I'm a subscriber as of now!
Great job. I know you are a pro just by the names of the tools. AND you saved me so much time. Great video. Keep up the good work brother. What goes around comes around.
Plenty of em down this way. My 2011 has spent most of its like in North Texas with exception to a year that I lived in Miami for work (2019). Still have the car and it's practically rust free! Refuse to part with my Gazelle Chariot. Love my Impala! Just had to work on my Lateral Link today, and the car still appeared to be clean as can be down below!
this dude is cracking me up! hahaha "put the wrench on top. cause thats how he likes to be" or "stick it in baby stick it in" hahahha i wont hate this project cause you made it fun and funny
awesome sauce! would not have thought to Jack up the car and putting it's weight on the control arm to finish tightening. Nice quality video dude. easy to see what your doing.
thank you so much for responding having issues with a 2010 impala. had both CVS joints repaired and as soon as I got the car back the axle and CV broke now my transmission is leaking so it's at another shop getting repaired I feel ripped off from the first shop.
+klowny1969 your welcome. I'll check it your other video as well. Ire century discovered the clicking noise and think that's the issue. Sucks because I just changed breaks and rotors a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice anything..
What's the difference between this video and doing the work on a 2002 Impala? Possibly just less electrical to disconnect? Does the original '02 Impala come with a ball joint that you can't add grease too?
Klowny, I have a 2002 Chevy Impala that needs a new front sway bar, that i plan on changing in the near future. I have heard that i have to drop the cradle to get the sway bar out and i heard that it will slide out without dropping the cradle. Can you give me any information on whether i need to drop it or not? Thanks!
when turning sharply to the right and accelerating right front wheel makes a rubbing sound and feels like it wants to pull in another direction. Only when turning sharply (I notice it mainly leaving from a stop) and accelerating sharp to the right. does it sound like a control arm issue? other then that car drives perfectly stright.
I just changed both outer tie rods due to cracking noise when I turn the the steering wheel. I still have the cracking noise but mostly on driver side. is a control arm issue or is it my struts cause I do need all 4
14:00 Klowny you had made mention before that these joints were installed incorrectly because they were not at 90 degrees with the subframe where you line up the painted dot on the bushing with the tip of the LCA... you know what I mean... anyway I just bought 2 police ones for my LS4 I think they ALL come like that... mine are offset and even uninstalled I can see the bushing stretching in a non uniform way while housed in the LCA... WTF do they make all of them fucked right from the plant??!??!?!?!
question is it possible that your rear right control arm if it's cracked really bad that it could cause the car to drive hard or different? alot of vibration when going at a certain speed.
I hear a clicking sound in mine. Trying to determine if its a tie rod end/ball joint/ or control arm bushing. Your videos help a lot. How long did this job take you?.
have you ever ran into an issue with these cars that when you cut the wheel left trac control comes on like it's spinning but it's not I'm stumped I have a 2010 impala ltz
Mitchel Mcgarry im not sure i understand ur description of the problem..when u go all the way left or right the belt squeals on these cars..is that what ur talking about?
Great job, explanation for a relatively easy repair job, but those control-arm bolts should be dosed in wd-40 or similar, because they are the original ones and you don't want any rust or anything else that can cause breaking. I would take those bolts to a specific fasteners place, and replace them.
yes pretty much..and make sure it aligns to the cotter pin hole.if not tighten it some more until it aligns. never loosen..thanks for watchng and dont forget to subscribe
@@klowny1969 I did front brakes on my 04 Grand Prix GTP yesterday, and noticed there was movement on the passenger side, which I assume would be ball joint play. Looks like this is the exact same set up as Grand Prix, so I’ll be doing this job soon too.
+klowny1969 any advice, my 09 impala is not starting. it cranks but it won't start. I checked the relay and even switched it arround with an identical one from the ac compressor and still nothing. no port on the fuel rail to see if fuel will squirt, I'm thinking it's the pump but I don't want to drop the tank unless u have to. any other advice? or opinions u could provide? What's the difference between this video and doing the work on a 2002 Impala? Possibly just less electrical to disconnect? Does the original '02 Impala come with a ball joint that you can't add grease too?
I watched a video about the control arm bushing and how to change that. I'm buying the kit and changing it all. I don't have a hydraulic press.
Awesome good luck!
