    Hi Nathan it's Bob Bussiere again,
    I have been shooting slingshots for about 2 years and I have tried the following slingshot band materials thera band gold, gzk, presise, and simple shot black, and simple shot black is the only band material that will meet my expectations! So that's the only band material I Will ever buy from now on. It is the best band material out there, hands down case closed!

    Thanks for the advice , just getting together my equipment for band making, I will go for the amber belt as that covers all thickness of band.👍

    Interesting, I've not used the band tying tape for my pouches, only tying my bands to my forks.
    I do use crystal for my double TBG bands, but I use several wraps, over under wrap style. I do also use a constrictor knot at the beginning, then finish with multiple squares. I've not had it come loose yet, but I'm going to try band tape on the pouch next time for sure.
    I used to build custom bow strings for compounds a few years ago, and I've been wanting to try the serving method on my pouches but haven't yet, maybe someone else has tried it already......
    Thanks for the tip!

      The band tying tape or amberbelt work very well and you do not need to do all the knotting. Be sure to give it a pre stretch.

    I am a longtime slingshot shooter but I have always had to MacGyver my bands using what I had available. For years I have been using waxed dental floss and a constrictor knot, never had any problems as the floss is very lightweight, but lately I have been intrigued by some of the unique materials people have been using on their setups. I am familiar with crystal string, but what exactly is "band tying tape" I have never heard of such a thing!

      I think he means that tape is a "amber belt".. it is flat and look like tape..

    are the .7mm thick latex bands considered "thicker" bands to use the tape (rather than crystal string)? I'm using your 3/8" ammo bands .7mm thick

    • @simpleshot

      I would use Band Tying Tape over Crystal String for anything 6mm or thicker.

    I found it easier to tie a knot at the end rather than wrap and tuck. It won't slip. Also I clean frame tips with alcohol to make them less slippery. Before wrapping the bands on.
    One reviewer does a couple wraps around the fork tip before laying down the latex bands. Bad idea, the amber belt is too slippery and everyone I did that way slipped out. Latex to frame works best.

    You can half the string waste if you do not cut a piece from the coil, but cut the string only after making the 2 knots.

    Hey there! I really like your videos and products! Having bought my first slingshot a couple of weeks ago [the torque] , I was wondering if you could comment on band orientation in OTT. I watched Fowler's Makery and Mischief video, where he said that bands should form a "V" when stretched and the pouch should be oriented the rough side outwards. Since not many of us newbies are ready to start making their own elastics, I bought a set of GM BW precise bands where the pouch knots are pointing inwards when in the "V" position but the slippery side of leather is on the outside. Does it even matter? On My theraband gold I did see a positive difference while shooting in the "V" position but it may have been placebo:P It seems that all pre made bandsets available are oriented the same way. Your feedback on this would really be priceless!
    Keep up the good work!

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  3 роки тому +1

      As far as rough out or in, it really does not make a difference. Some shooters prefer the more grip and yet others like less grip. You will want to try to keep the ears or band tag ends to the outside so it does not interfere with the ammo when shot. With TTF this is not as important.

      @@simpleshot No sorry. I think these just aren't for me. I reached out to a slingshot group on Facebook to gather pointers. It seemed a lot of people had the same issues I did. Maybe these are not fit to handle stronger band sets? Is that a possibility? I'm currently using the simple shot black latex in the thickest option.

    • @simpleshot
      @simpleshot  Рік тому

      With the thicker latex, you really need to get it on tight. It also helps if you for the latex back over and do more wraps. Here is a link to our instructional video for wrap and tuck.

      SimpleShot i am a sound engineer... watching this video... I can’t.
      I love your products and videos but this little room... it needs help. If you’re going to keep filming in this room, run to Walmart and get some sticky carpet squares and checkerboard the out-of-sight walls with them. $100 will radically improve the sound quality. You’re filming with at least two cameras,you’ve done something with the lighting, I’m guessing you spent $ on a stand-alone microphone, spend a little more to give it a clean recording environment.
