Checking back in to say that I've been using this method since I saw this video and your claims are not exaggerated. Anyone that wants to get the most out of their bands should really give this method a go!
Love it, this is the answer I was looking for to extend band life, and it has the effect of making the sport a lot more affordable, while lowering breakage possibility during a hunt or tournament. Thank you so much!!
Awesome video! Totally going to try this next time I tie up a set. I like tying bands with crystal string more than amber belt, but kept having the issues you described early in the video. Cheers!
Very interesting. I tie my pouches with strips of thin latex or a cotton string constrictor knot. I really gravitated to these methods because I can tie them with no tools/jig but I have to say I am going to give your method a try, makes a lot of sense, and who doesn't want more shots per bandset?
@@bisleykid Thanks! I've been experimenting with the constrictor knot lately and it works really well also. I may prefer it for skinny/thin band sets. I think the most important thing is for the latex between the knot and pouch to be basically slack between shots and that the knot never slips.
@@Matt_Makes_Slings I ordered some crystal string to try out your tying method. I'm sure it will work very well, locking down that top band to ensure the knot doesn't slip and tighten up makes all the difference I think. Gonna be out in your neck of the woods in a couple of weeks. My son is in the Air Force and is stationed in Great falls, I come out to visit every August. You live in a beautiful state.
@@Matt_Makes_Slings I can see having the rapid untie useful for taper tests/adjusting. I snip the tuck loop and pull the tag end out normally. Otherwise method is pretty close to this.

@@lenwenzel7440 Thanks! Check out my other video where I use the constrictor knot instead of crystal string. I like that method a little more.
Great method Matt, and love the simple jig ❤ Subbed
@@DeepSouthSlings-Darrell Thanks! Check out my other video where I use the constrictor knot instead. I prefer that method slightly now.
Great video! Thank you for sharing
Nice to hear that crystal string works so great 👍.
Good video Matt 🤘
Thank you for the original idea! 👍
Great! Then best I'm doing it that way now !
Cool method, I'm a firm believer in the constrictor knot, mainly for its compactness and ease of tying but I may have to give this method a try.
Hard to beat the constrictor knot for ease of tying. 👍

Right on! Let me know how it goes. 👍
What size(thickness) crystal string are you using?
It's the 1mm stuff from snipersling. 👍
@@Matt_Makes_Slings thanks, I'll give it a try.

How long is your jig in total length? 🙏
@@MD76MAC the whole thing is ~270mm long, the gap between the raised blocks is 160mm and the space between the tips of the clamps is 55mm. 👍
@Matt_Makes_Slings thanks man. Yeah I built one like that but it needs adjusting. 🙏
Are you using the crystal string for more than one set? Been dubious about using the exploding finish.
I don't reuse the crystal string. It seems to separate over time quite a bit.
