  • back with a review telluride is gone, pathfinder is here. we love this car! The Telluride with the odor really took away from it's ownership. The seat comfort in the Pathfinder is bar none the best in all we've owned. Fuel economy is okay, but the SUV is built really well and rides great. If you are in the market for a new SUV it's worth a look especially since you won't see these driving around as much as other brands including the Telluride which everyone has now.

    I have the 4WD Pathfinder Platinum 2022. It's great in the winter and for going on country roads. For winter driving I put on the 18 inch alloy wheels with heavy duty mud/snow off road type tires. I like the full digital display in the Platinum. There is not much bad I can say about the Pathfinder. I've had a lot of high end SUVs 4WD. This Pathfinder is the best I've had so far. The engine in the Pathfinder and other models of Nissan is the same in some of the Infinity. I was told by some of the service people this engine has computer controlled ignition and valve timing. If using the Premium high octane gasoline the HP can go up about 10% to 15%, and fuel economy will improve. I did some tests and they were right. As for the ECO mode I found the improvement is not more than about 3% average. I prefer to use AUTO and especially the SPORT because I enjoy the way it drives. Very often I drive it in the SPORT mode, but I am light on the gas pedal. I like the feel of this mode. I found when driving this SUV easy the fuel economy in the SPORT mode is not less than the AUTO mode. I keep the third row seats down and use the area for carrying things. I like the large cargo space for when going shopping and moving things around.
    I am familiar with auto technology. I can tell you the Korean cars are a waste of money. Poor mechanical quality compared to the Japanese type vehicles. I would not hesitate to buy another Pathfinder when it's time to change it. I bought my wife the new 2023 Platinum AWD Rogue. She loves it. The Rogue computer and audio system is very close to that of the Pathfinder Platinum 4WD and it does not have all of the features of the Pathfinder Platinum, but it is a very good smaller SUV. Being lighter than the Pathfinder it is a bit more peppy when driving it. It is also more economical. The Rogue Platinum AWD is very similar to the QX50 Infinity 2023. Mechanically and platform of the Rogue is very close.
    I compared the Pathfinder Platinum to the high end QX60 Infinity. I was considering to buy it. Very little difference other than the style of trim. The QX60 does not have the skid plates and its suspension is not designed for off road. It has a more luxury look. The salesman and the sales manager more strongly recommended the Pathfinder for the type of use I wanted. They also told me the trade in value for the Pathfinder will be higher. I tend to not keep a vehicle for more than 4 years. I always take a service contract with an extended warranty.

    I will say this, I totally agree with the seats being comfortable. I sat in a Platinum and almost bought it right then. Only thing that bugs me a little bit, Nissan issued a couple of software updates for the ZF 9 speed for shifting issues.

    Funny we both drive/shop similarly. We just picked up a 2020 SL, and the wife loves it. I’m a wash on it myself, but I’m still smitten with my 2012 tdi Touareg, the suspension is worlds better. But the newer VW suvs lack that awesome suspension as well.
    As an SUV…. Well imo, I feel like somewhere along the line the Japanese engineers took a look at a Quiglies conversion and made it for the Japanese people lol. It’s a damn minivan with 4wd.
    In the end the wife is happy, and with a set of snow tires, it’s awesome in the snow, so I’m happy she and the kids are safe.
    Now to see if I follow you and go 7.3, or 6.7…. As you said in your vid on the 7.3, the maintenance man….
    Thanks for an honest insight.

    I hear that if you set the 2nd row to the position you want for the 3rd row it will latch with space for the 3rd row. Nice video, considering this vehicle. Seems to hold its own pretty well.

    Hey Automotive inquiries, how is your pathfinder holding up? We are looking for a 2024. Heard during crazy summer it does not cool well. So does it cool quickly without lowering temperatures too down and turn raise the blower all the way? Does it heat well during winter? Any comments on the hvac? How is the headlight brightness during night time? How much does it cost to maintain service wise?

      We've had several hwy trips, she'll get about 24 with my wife driving. I've actually got 26, at speed limits, easy throttle. My parents who also drive easy have seen 25 in their 23 SL. City wife sits at 16 to 19, but that is remote starting it and idling about 15 minutes a day. That's on par with the 20 telluride we bout new, it's even better than my 21 outback xt.....my jeep grand cherokee L....19 hwy and 14 city with the v6.

    I bought a new one. 2023, pretty much identical to yours but silver. I like it very much but have had a lot of problems. It’s in the shop again as I type this. The major one is when it goes into auto off at a stop, the engine will restart, roll you 20-25 feet forward then shift into neutral and die. Throws all kinds of dash lights and of course the first dealership was unable to replicate. Hope the dealer I purchased it from can replicate. Lots of other problems as well. Won’t hold CarPlay. Fuel pump is shot and the leather on all seats wrinkled up badly. (They are replacing those) I really do like the vehicle so hopefully can get it all corrected or I’m going to have to go through corporate for a replacement or refund which is already in the works. I bought it with 12 miles on it and it now has +/- 8000. How’s yours holding up?

    • @ballardappraisals1642
      @ballardappraisals1642 8 місяців тому

      I want to add one more thing to the above. I have videos of all these problems including 2 detailing the auto stop system failure. The dealerships don’t care. I’ve shared them with them but if they can’t duplicate, it doesn’t matter. I’m thinking I was dealing with a poor service department. I have high hopes for the service department at the dealership I purchased it from. I’ll let you know if you’re interested. BTW, I just spent the last two weeks in a CX-90 rental and it’d be a tossup for me between the PF and the CX-90. PF is more practical CX is more fun. Better MPG’s from the CX surprisingly. I was getting 30-31.

      Sorry to hear that. I had seen some reviews stating problems, but mine had zero. Although I always shut the auto off and start off. We liked ours so much, my parents bought a 23, SL in white. They don't use the apple car play android auto, but one year in, zero issues. I do hope they can fix the problems and get it right for you. They really are nice SUVs.

    • @ballardappraisals1642
      @ballardappraisals1642 8 місяців тому +2

      Me too. I really like the vehicle and it’s with the dealership now. I’m reading about some complaints online, it seems the shifting to neutral complaints are starting to roll in and the popping noise is either an easy fix with some panel shims or possibly strut plates. Also apparently there was a bad batch of fuel pumps. I’ll keep you and your viewers posted on this. I think my dealer genuinely wants me to be happy with the vehicle so I have high hopes at this point.

      Sorry to hear about your issues with the Pathfinder. I purchased a 2022 Pathfinder SL brand new now as we speak with 47,000 miles on it without any major issues. The only thing that has happened to me twice just recently was that as I try to start the car it stalled on me just cranks as if the battery is dead but it’s not as it was a new battery that I had installed
      Before. And the check oil light comes on but hasn’t happened since then. On another note my friend is a mechanic and he says that it’s wise to turn off the auto off start when you come to a stop. In the long run it’s not good for the engine.

    Can you tell me more about the short term lease?

    • @automotiveinquiries9673
      @automotiveinquiries9673  10 місяців тому

      Sure, so most, not all, manufacturers have a short term lease. They don't advertise it much because they prefer you lease 36 months or longer. You can go in and ask about it. They will estimate what mileage you'd need, but you can do 10 to 18k. You will pay more per month for more miles, but it's cheaper than paying more later. You can also do a sign and drive with little to no down, meaning zero up to first payment and taxes. I like this option because you can run the car for a year or two and if you don't like it, your lease is done and you walk away. Love it and buy it like any other lease at the end. Leases tend to be a cheaper payment than loans.

      So I turned mine in, it was a 12 month lease. However, my parents bought one the same year. My mom who's in her 70s, loves the simplicity, comfort and safety stuff. She gets about 24 mpg, which isn't bad at all. She's had zero issues in almost 2 years.

      We own the same car and it is a adventure evrytime we go to the car wash. I found one that has a slight slope going in so I can get it in neutral and roll onto the belt. I still have to tap the brake pedal coming out to get it back into drive. Not fun at all. Other than that its been a really good car. Have not had the issue with the camera.

    My 2022 Pathfinder is a complete piece of crap! Rear brake pads needing to be replaced at 15K. Numerus issues with the electric system to the point I have to pull over and restart the engine to get the errors to clear. Towing is a joke and using a bike rack is a headache due to the stupid emergency braking assistance that slams on the brakes when backing with any thing attached to the hitch. No easy button to disable it like in other vehicles capable of towing. Instead you have to work your way through a pain in the @ss menu to disable the feature but it resets once the engine is turned off. Stupidest engineering I have ever seen in a vehicle. Passenger seat is way to low and there is no way to raise it for shorter passengers. Just looked a 2024 and the passenger seat is still to low with no way to raise.
