WHAT??? Ford announces! NEXT GEN Super Duty going HYBRID? When? I'll Tell Ya!
The biggest news to hit in a long time. Ford announced yesterday that they will be adding Super Duty production to the OakVille Ontario plant for the 2026 Refresh. That is big news but even bigger? The next Gen 2026 Ford Super Duty will have Hybrid technology to the lineup. We don't know if it will be a 7.3 Godzilla Hybrid, or the 6.8 Baby Zilla Hybrid or even better, why not both.
Ford refreshed the Super duty in 2023, so these changes won't be that soon, but we know that with the reduced production of the Ford Lightning and the focus turned to the Powerboost, we can expect great things potentially on the 2026. I've been saying it for a long time, bring in that technology to the Heavy Duty and that's a truck I can love even more. I loved Captain, my 2023 F-150 Powerboost and I can't wait to see this come to the HD market.

On my 2024 Chevrolet 2400hd, when I removed the tailgate to install my slide in camper, I found out the (after expensive Chevrolet tech working with GM tech support) that there is a data circuit going in and out of the tailgate, when I unplug the tailgate I lose my blind side warning system and the rear cross traffic warning system. GM should make a adapter plug to plug into the tailgate connector on the truck when you remove the tailgate, to complete the data circuit to keep the safety systems working and protect the tailgate connector on the truck from mud and water.

240 degree trans temp is a bit more than I’d prefer especially considering it wasn’t terribly hot outside. But great showing overall. I tow and use my truck on moderate rocky off-road conditions, a gasser that’s significantly lighter than a diesel but can still competently tow definitely has some appeal for me. When purchase time rolls around for me the 7.3 tremor is definitely on the list!

Hopefully you can still buy the standard 7.3 no hybrid version….. Hey Ford just an idea maybe make a “high output” version of the 7.3 or a “max tow” version 7.3 with a turbo would be amazing and a big seller even on your tremors

I've been saying this for a while. Everything about the 7.3 screams more power and ample space to drop a proportionally sized battery to say increase the power numbers to 500 hp and 600 lb ft tq. I would buy it too providing its a hybrid and NOT electric. Finally, a real contender as an optional platform to a diesel.

Good review. I have the 2020 F350 dually with 4.30 gears and load a 4000lbs Truckcamper in the back. I had the 2017 F350 6.7 srw first but the payload and stability were underwhelming. Totally agree with your conclusion. The gas 7.3 is a beast and for almost all situations is enough motor.

@gregormaitland5065 it will, that's why I'd go 3.73 if I was ordering. That being said, one could loose that grunt when towing. 3.73 would be better when not towing for MPG's and lower RPM.

Although I've never been on the IKE and obviously that is no joke a per pulling long grades or holding back down the opposite side, the Fremont I have been over just with a pickup and it like others of the more winding two lane passes in Colorado they are no joke as slow speed corners one has to slow down for and the traffic piling up behind a slow moving unit trying to pass. Even though you never filmed that pass in a forward facing angle and like you said the video would be many hours long if you had, I suspect some viewers not familiar with passes ( flat landers that have never ever been on roads like this ) its hard to grasp the challenge these present to both driver operating the vehicle properly and the proper equipment ( a capable enough tow rig ) to keep it under control and not go and fly off a sharp mountain curve due to driving like that yahoo did passing with a smaller truck and yet fairly large ball hitch trailer. Jeremy, like I said its been years since I was on the Fremont highway 91 as well as having been over the other two north/south route highways 9 and 24 but I was quite happy just to be driving my older half ton pickup with nothing behind as I know all too well of its lack of capability out of the factory ( as I found out ) with lack of engine power, transmission failure prone, and the brakes not being what they need to be size wise. I would rather be driving tractor trailer through those passes honestly, yes slow but with a jake brake and an 18 speed manual up to the task ( or if like TFL and get a pickup similar to yours and trailer just handed to me to drive LOL ).

Great video as always and awesome truck. 100% agree on the Diesel comparison and thank you because this channel was a big part of me dumping my diesel for the 7.3 gas and I don’t miss it at all. I have noticed that my truck will apply the brakes in regular and adaptive cruise control mode going down hill. I wish they would have not made it do it in regular mode just because where I travel its unnecessary to slow the vehicle coming down an overpass, I would rather it just gain a few mph to keep the momentum going instead of using the brakes. Anyway, thanks for the video, always enjoy them.

From my understanding with Ford sources is that the 7.3 Godzilla is meant to get the most at higher RPMs either for braking or power range. I never let any engine redline, and during the test, it stayed well below. Time will tell, as Ford promises this engine is commercial grade, can be idled and can handle it. Diesels work up there in RPMS, but their RPM ranges are also lower.

Did you know that on my 2024hd Chevrolet Double Cad LT truck, when I removed the tailgate to mount my slide in camper, my Lane Change Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert stopped working? After several visit to dealer and dealer tech working with GM engineers, and a $500 bill for the diagnosis, found out there is a Data circuit in the tailgate connector that connects the blind side modules together. Hopefully someone will make an adapter plug connecting the data leads, to plug into the tailgate connector on truck when you remove the tailgate. I ordered a new tailgate harness to splice the data leads together to fix the problem.

Ethanol is not important. It’s part of a green agenda which is a great benefit to farmers who choose to grow corn. You still believe the lie.

Don't think your trailer is 14000 with 6 lug axsal

I suspect those would more than likely be 6000 pound rated axles and the RV industry is famous for pushing their axles to the max, and then of course the rest of the weight would be on the fifth wheel. I am quite positive he has accurately weighed both of his trailers and taken into account what water he was carrying on board etc as well. This isn't TFL Truck where they pretend they know what they are talking about but half the time are blowing smoke out their rears.

I used 91 and 87. Can’t tell the difference. If something happens because I use 87 I’ll just take it in for ford to pay for the repairs. Most of these new truck are only good for 100k anyway.

Is it possible to make home link learn a dip switch remote? It’s for a shared HOA gate on the property I live on

@user-rw4pb4wt6l it should absolutely be trainable as long as you have a remote to learn it to. If it's just a fob or a gate card, I don't think it would.

I have a 2021 high country suburban. I lost my adaptive cruise, Cruz braking and camera. After a month of troubleshooting I went to a dealer and the camera module has to be reconfigured thru a Gm tech line . The diagnostic test said u0447 code . (Loss of communication with gateway control module from windshield camera) B174w Reconfigure gateway control module, relearn forward windshield camera. I was able to reset the the Cruz with manual braking. During the reconfigure the tech line crashed and have to take back to finish. Make sure the dealer has a stable GM tech line.

Don't forget when towing heavy, an engine will be more susceptible to knocking (at sea level). At elevation...not so much

What would you recommend for a 24 Tremor 7.3 with a truck camper that weighs 1800 pounds wet? I'm trying to decide between airbags, overload spring spacers, sumo springs or Timbrens
