I am still running by M1 iPad Pro 12.9. I used it for my primary personal computing device for about a year. It was awesome. When the M2 Pro Mac Mini was announced I pounced on that as I like to edit videos and iPad while better than the iPhone, it just can’t compete with a Mac. I still use it as my mobile computer and love it. Thanks for the great content! Always look for it when I hop on UA-cam and it’s like a little treat in my day while working on boring work stuff. 😂
You deserve 1 million subscribers these videos are so incredibly well done, helpful and entertaining to watch! Have a fantastic christmas and feel better!
Is it worth the upgrade? If you’re using an iPad Pro with an LCD screen yes, if you already have an M1 or M2 12.9 inch and are looking to upgrade to M4 I’d say no. The jump from LCD to mini-LED was much more significant than the jump from mini-LED to OLED
Thanks as always for the great content! I was 5th in line the day the iPad M4 11" launched. and even now that the honeymoon period is over, I am still in love with it. I also had a 12.9" and I will never go back. Love the size of the 11", I pack it with me everyday.
I got one this month still, i absolutely love it, it doesn't lag, it feels nice to use, and the art experience (which is one of the main reasons i upgraded) is amazing, i love the pencil pro and pretty much everything about the ipad, it's incredibly fun and nice to use
I've got a iPad Pro 2020 (12.9) and as I am not a power user (note taking, photo editing and content consumption), it still feels quite responsive and can take all the tasks I'm demanding. And even if it's not an Oled screen, it remains a wonderfull screen so no need to change for me.
Thinking I need to upgrade to the M4 soon. Not that my current 12.9 needs to be replaced, but also pondering the 11” Pro. Good video as always. Props for pushing through not feeling well and posting. 🙌🏼
I'm still happy with my iPad Pro 11 with its A12Z Bionic, but if I wished to do any processor intensive tasks I have an M3 iMac. The iPad is basically an email, UA-cam, social media machine, but I originally went for the pro model for the longevity (and facial recognition). It hasn't let me down (although the battery life is dwindling) and I suspect that I will get more years out of it than if I had bought a base iPad or an iPad Air instead. Having said that, when this iPad finally gives out, I'll probably go for an iPad Air to replace it as I just don't need M4 power on a tablet.
I, for the most part, agree with his point. I had the 11 inch M1 Pro and honestly only “upgraded” cause I got a good deal. I say upgraded in quotations cause it probably was more like a lateral move cause I got an M2 13 inch Air to replace it. I mainly did it for the additional screen size as the iPad is now my only computing device besides my work laptop.
I replaced my iPad Mini 6th gen and M1 iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2TB with M4 iPad Pro 11-inch for similar reasons. I went for the 1TB model and have already filled over 60% of its storage capacity - mostly with games, Logic Pro plus sound libraries, and music. I was amazed how light and manageable the 11-inch M4 iPad Pro is over the larger 12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro, especially when the magic keyboard is attached, and when the keyboard is folded with Apple pencil still attached, it readily fits into a zipped 11/12-inch padded laptop sleeve and then into a rucksack. The UK should get Apple Intelligence in iPad OS 18.2 which is due for release sometime in December.
I have the latest Air. It’s practically an iPad Pro of the past year or two. It’s very powerful and fantastic. If you don’t need the batter display and don’t miss Face ID, it’s totally fine.
I have a question. Why would you use your iPad mini over your cell phone? Is there something the ipad offers that an iPhone doesn't? Did you do art on your iPad mini when you would take it around with you?
Really loved the review ❤ I am looking at the iPad Pro M1 or the M4 Pro as a companion to my M2 Macbook Air this review really helped to make a decision. And I hope you feel better soon. Also loved the Japan Pictures
I upgraded from an 11” 2020 iPad pro so I didn’t have an M chip but even still my iPad was working fine. The oled screen alone though was worth it to me 😄 Especially since I like to read a lot of manga which is black and white, it just pops so much nicer on this screen✨ plus I got $350 for my trade in so it was a good deal for me
4:37 I’ve just used Stage Manager with an external display today for some productivity work. It’s horrible. No way it can replace a Mac. Still love the iPad as tablet. That’s why I always use it in tablet mode, even with keyboard and mouse.
While i love this M4 iPad, i dont see much difference between the M1 or M2 iPad in terms of speed. Screen looks great, but so are the others. I dont regret getting it though … I still love the extra power, wish they made more apps to make use of the power …
this has been my first ipad and i adore it, so light and the battery is incredible, however i dont use it enough :( trying to think of reasons to reach for it more
I sold my iPad mini 6 a year ago and I picked up the OLED about a months ago and gotten the iPad mini 7 alongside it and now I have both 😂 the screen on the OLED is just too nice but using the mini on the go is fun.
I found this really interesting Thanks Just off to find your 13” vs 11” video now. I have been hankering after a pro since the day they launched. I was running a iPad 3 the first Retina display until it was sidelined by obsolescence. Since then I have been making do with my IPhone 12 Pro. I can’t decide whether I want the 13 or the 11 256 or 512 M4 or M1 second hand maybe with a bundled pencil and magic kb, for possibly half the price. I will use it as a tv and for hobby photo and video editing and as a replacement for my also obsolete 2010 11” MacBook Air which I hated for its small size.
Now that m3 and m2 MacBook airs have defaulted to. 16gb of ram. Not sure if i want to keep my 10.5 inch iPad Pro and get a MacBook Air or get a iPad Pro m4. I already daily drive this iPad but the MacBook Air with 16gb base is tempting.
Do not buy cellular if you do not need it but think you might use it, it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces bend durability, My mom sat on mine thank god i have apple care and the frame seperated from the antenna line and bent like it was a portable curved monitor 😂 Apple needs to stop with the thin it wasnt even heavy or thick before but it does feel nice to hold
I have the 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch LCD ( A12Z Bionic Chip ) Pre M series. I am going to wait for the next iteration, which should be 2025 end of the year ish, which would make it 18 months after M4 release. Ive heard that the M5 will have a little more GPU upgrade focused for us, as the M4 was more CPU focused. Rumours are swinging towards 12-16g RAM on base model. This would all fit in my mind, Apple have realised the need for more RAM to accommodate Apple AI and they have been slowly pushing into the Gaming space since M1 and a little more harder since M3/4. IOS are getting some AAA games and more to come, so for me the M5 looks to be great. Ive also read that its ment to be 2nm more transistors, more raw power whilst also being more energy efficient.
The OS is the best tablet OS there is. I just want more advanced apps. And with godot and a couple 3D rigging and animation tools coming to iPad soon, it’s significantly reduced my desire to use a regular laptop
Spot on. I have a second hand M1 iPad pro, and my partner the M4. I do envy how thin her iPad is, and how good the display is. The magic keyboard is nice, but it's so heavy I'd never carry it. With even a thin folio case on both iPads you no longer notice the weight difference, and the M1 is plenty fast enough for doing iPad things. M4 is faster, but you can't really tell. It's got great speakers, great bluetooth range for Airpods, promotion, faceID - in truth I have no reason to upgrade (well apart from the 3 days when the sun shines in England and I'm using it outside). I still _want_ the M4, I lust after it, it's a magical piece of engineering, but cannot justify it at all, especially at the ludicrous price - and I'd have to replace my pencil 2 with a overpriced pencil pro to boot. It might be worth it if you could actually make use of the M4 in productivity tasks. I too really hoped Apple would make good on this promise. I'm still appalled at how bad stage manager and external monitor/device support is. Four windows per stage. Why? No reason. Try doing a Zoom call with an external ultrawide display, and USB camera/mic. It's such a bad experience. Display scaling is laughable, and can't be adjusted. Mic camera support is all over the place. Apps crash. Try downloading some content in one app, then using another app, and realise your downloads stalled because iPadOS basically doesn't allow multitasking. Try listening to Apple music while using another app. As soon as the foreground app makes a sound, your music stops. No audio mixing. Seriously, Windows 3.1 handled audio better than this in the early 90s. Then there's the files app, and file handling in general, hobbled browsers, hobbled apps designed for iPhone. All this means that for me iPad is just a companion to a mac, and as such, $1000 is a crazy starting price. If you can use it to create art, music, or video, then there are pretty good pro apps for this, and maybe it can stretch the M4 a little bit, and so upgrading may be worth it. For the rest of us, it's just an iPad. I think the 11" M1 Pro is still the sweet spot, because it's half the price of M4 second hand, it hasn't got any limitations like 60Hz display or touch ID, or only 64GB storage. I use mine all the time, and it's a fab iPad.
You realize it’s about the personality right? Oh look it’s another action movie, or another comedy.. you watch things for the personality. You don’t like it, don’t watch. Making YT videos takes a ton of effort and time, no need to put down someone because you don’t like it.
@@youcreateyourownstory by your own logic, if you don’t like my comments don’t read them. The comment section is there to offer an opinion, not just blow smoke. I offered my opinion.
Battery life on these devices is ABHORRENT, especially if you are coming from the M-series Mac world. Do not listen to these “2-3 day” battery lies from UA-camrs, if you use it constantly it likely will not last more than 1 day. If you push it, it probably won’t last the day.
Yeah wish the battery life was better, definitely not “ABHORRENT” coming from someone who uses their iPad regularly for intensive stuff. I never get battery anxiety. But it would be nice if it were as good as a MacBooks. That said, you can definitely get 8 hours or more of use out of it, depending on what your doing obviously
These videos are SO INSPIRATIONAL! I love them and they inspire my videos. Thank you so much.

sweet!
I’ve never owned an iPad Pro before, these holidays I’ll pick up this M4 one, in the store it looked amazing! Let’s see how it goes 😊
niceeeee! Enjoy!
I have the 11 inch M4 and upgraded from the 12.9 m2. Screen and battery life are a really nice upgrade. Very fast too

yeah that's fair!
Bring on the 200K. Hope you’re feeling better soon buddy. 🙌🏻
ayyy thanks man, I do feel better now! Stupid cold
Thinking I need to upgrade to the M4 soon. Not that my current 12.9 needs to be replaced, but also pondering the 11” Pro. Good video as always. Props for pushing through not feeling well and posting. 🙌🏼
Thanks, feeling much better now! I really love the 11"
@ Good to hear! I get that. I don’t carry my 12.9’ around as much because it is bulky. My Mini is always with me though and I may carry the 11” more

I switched to an Ipad Mini but it was to small. So i switched back and to regret it! Such a great Ipad!!
mini is nice but it's just too small! if you like the form factor of it you might like the new iphone max's!
I replaced my iPad Mini 6th gen and M1 iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2TB with M4 iPad Pro 11-inch for similar reasons. I got one reluctantly and man its awesome. The screen is just so damn beautiful. Well worth it considering its cheaper than the iphone right now!
Tom glad you’re back
Glad to be back 🫡
I absolutely love my 11" M4, I just really wish Apple had done more with iPadOS 18 in terms of improving Stage Manager.
Do you think it would be worth switching to this from an iPad Air? I have a recent Air so it's not that old or anything
I have the latest Air. It’s practically an iPad Pro of the past year or two. It’s very powerful and fantastic. If you don’t need the batter display and don’t miss Face ID, it’s totally fine.
I don't think so, no!
@@ByteReview good to know, thanks!
I have a question. Why would you use your iPad mini over your cell phone? Is there something the ipad offers that an iPhone doesn't? Did you do art on your iPad mini when you would take it around with you?
note taking was the main thing, I use it loads when shooting videos for shot lists, sketching ideas, and staying on top of it all!

Thanks for the honest update. As nice as that OLED screen is I don't see any other compelling reason to upgrade from my M1 iPad Air.

I think I’m ready to upgrade my 12Z 11 in pro, being on the M4 seems like the only way to not be even more limited by the IPadOS plus I want cellular.

My M1 11 inch Ipad pro still great !!!
Nanotexture display and the squeeze feature are gamechangers for me.

yeah this is severely kneecapped by os
