I totally agree with you. I have the base M4 iPad Pro and it is my laptop. Perfect for travel and portability. The new keyboard is night and day better than the previous version. Keep up the great work, great videos!
my question is, do we really need a laptop/PC for these days? i mean for a professional work definitely you will need specific laptop or PC, but for a personal daily use why do we need a laptop just for browsing, email, some word processor, editing you traveling photo or video maybe..for those kind of activity ipad give you more versatility in my opinion …ipad may be can not replace a macbook but maybe you don’t even need a macbook in the first place..
I had the iPad Pro, like yours, but without the keyboard. Three weeks ago I gave it to my daughter and bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra with the Samsung Slim keyboard (for free) and it is amazing. The screen is just as good (for most uses, you really don't need 1600 nits), everthing is snappy, in fact many of the same apps open faster than the iPad Pro - this did surprise me. All that I used on the iPad Pro I have on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. In landscape mode the depth is only 1mm less than the iPad Pro, but the width is much greater so that any UA-cam videos are much bigger. I think the sound is equivalent, to my ears even better. Dex now has two modes which are great, nothing to the same experience is there on the iPad Pro. With the slim keyboard it is thinner than the iPad Pro with an attached keyboard. Oh, and another thing the pen comes with the Tab S10 and it is much better to use than the Apple Pencil which I always struggled to use at it slides too easily. Overal cost for the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is hundreds of dollars cheaper. Yes, the M4 iPad Pro may beat the processor in the Tab S10 but for all my uses the Tab S10 has been super fast. For anything more complicated, graphics, videos, I use my M3 Macbook Air 15". Lastly, I had a concern about the Password Manager that on the iPad I was used to using, but Google (and Samsung) have their own Password managers which I have found work just as well. I am very happy with the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and would encourage anyone who is tired of being trapped in the Apple walled garden to look at the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra first.
@@Huma9ty Interesting, I ran Genshin at highest settings and 60fps and it ran quite smoothly. It has all the software I used on the iPad, and they load and run very quickly. I know the iPad has some better software but for my use the Galaxy has been perfect.
while I don’t have the iPad Pro I do have the iPad 10th gen and it has replaced my MBA that I was using for doing Landscape Photography. Using the apps that I found for photo editing gives me the desktop experience on the base level iPad. I am able to do focus stacking and HDR blending with ease. The best thing about doing an exposure blend is how easy Affinity photo makes it with the luminosity masks. The apps open up faster on the iPad than they do on the MBA which shocked me but they are a dream to use. I am limited to using one app at a time because of the lack of RAM but that is fine with me. I am not using Lightroom or photoshop as they are just not the best choice when working on a iPad. I found that Affinity Photo and Photomator are the best solution for the editing.
I’m gonna tell you that I use the iPad Pro M2 11” with a Typecase keyboard. I’ve not seen a good review for this keyboard because everybody recommends the magic keyboard. Personally, I prefer this keyboard because the keyboard is lit and with me having headaches sometimes I like my room really dark with only the iPad on so being able to type in the dark works for me. Now, I am a professional book reviewer and just for context I checked my blog (Robin Loves Reading) so I have posted 248 reviews that I have written using this device. I have a Windows computer in my office that I NEVER USE. If I ever upgrade from the M2, I will go for the larger screen because of all the writing that I do for my blog and stuff I do on spreadsheets and online book journaling. But I’m very happy with the set up that I have right now.
My experience with my 13 inch M4 iPad Pro is pretty much spot on to yours. I was able to replace my old 2018 MacBook Pro. Im a graphic designer/artist as well. Having the M4 iPad Pro be the best drawing tablet for my needs was a priority…it being as good as it is as a “laptop”, is just a bonus. I never planned on using it as a full replacement…I got it as my primary drawing tablet…once I added the Magic Keyboard, It kind of left my MacBook Pro in the dust.
Are you have problem with overheating and battery drop fast? Because when I use procreate it drop vert fast 🥲 and hot in center display my old air 4 never was overheating it so disappointed 😞
@ not so much with battery drain but it DOES get hot with procreate and Freeform oddly enough. I think its a common issue with heating. It starts heating up within minutes of opening procreate. I usually have to lower my brightness down to 50% to offset the heat. It’s not hot enough to actually overheat or become uncomfortable, but it is kind of odd as you dont even need to have a ton of layers going or ANYTHING drawn period
@adamterry550 thanks for answer! Yes same, for me help use power mode after use it ipad really cold when use anything and battery holds much more but I buy 2k$ ipad not for using power mood🗿 Also what ipadOS are you have now? My is 17.7 I hear that some says in 18 and more overheating less
Absolutely agree with almost everything you said. I just love my iPad Pro 13 inch with the Magic Keyboard….only issue I have is that the webcam for Zoom meetings is just really subpar from my older MacBook, which is really my ONLY complaint. It’s just really noisy and grainy, bit of a pain but it is fantastic in every single other aspect! Great review…new subscriber!
Very good video…I have two areas that I would like your opinion. I am trying to cut the strings and just use my iPad Pro M4. I use Luma Fusion for my video production and so far it seems to do very well. BUT, am a little worried as we begin to see more and more 8K video. What are you using and do you miss your Mac for video production. My second area is the folder/storage/file access navigation. I am really struggling with that as it seems very counter intuitive. I am curious how you have dealt with that. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to hearing from you.
I agree with you! I like the iPad to work from. My job doesn't require a lot of computer heavy tasks so being able to use safari, outlook, MS suite, and zoom is really all I need. Like you said, there are some eccentricities with some iOS apps, but mainly, things work fine for me. I really enjoy that the screen to me seems much nicer to consume videos/movies, and the touch screen capabilities are nice :) I also like the new magic keyboard for the iPad Pros better than my MacBook! They feel a bit nicer and more satisfying for some reason. I can see though that not all people can completely replace their workflow with the iPad. Cheers for the updated review :)
I noticed that you showed a setup with the Kuxiu stand + Magic KB + Magic Trackpad? What's the purpose / benefits of that if you already have a Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro?
Thanks for the video Faiz! Love my iPad as my mobile work device and for kicking back and consuming content or playing a game. I use it a ton. Still use my MBP when I’m in my office. I like to stream multiple sports events to a 42” Samsung Qled TV and a 24” LG Ultrafine. I’ll tether the iPad to the MBP and it ties in seamlessly giving me a 4 monitor set up. Best of all worlds! My wife is like 🙄! Cheers!
I personally like the exterior material of the Magic Keyboard. Although it may be challenging to keep it clean, I appreciate the enhanced grip it provides when I’m carrying the device. With that said, I love the feel of keyboard with the more premium internal material. The Apple Pencil Pro and its squeeze feature is also a game changer for me. I could never consistently get the double tap feature on the pencil 2 to work for me, so it is a big deal for when I’m taking notes or drawing.
What about backups? Do you still use Mac for periodically backup with Time Machine? I suppose so as I think there is no alternatives (iCloud isn’t a real backup system but rather a data sync system). I hope Apple could implement this on next iPadOS versions
Hi how is the battery back up for pencil pro? Mine only works for 3 hours and the battery go down from 100-20. Is it normal or how much it is supposed to work?
Great video - recently bought the iPad 13 Pro 2024 and got an educational discount. Primarily bought it as it’s M4 chip is leaps and bounds ahead of Samsung. Haven’t really used its full capabilities as of yet. Please make a video with the upcoming AI 🤖 features which I think 🤔 are rolling out in December. Use it to make notes 📝 and to teach when in the lecture hall. Extremely versatile and very powerful.
Do you use the Magic Mouse with the iPad when it’s docked? I have been on the fence getting one, currently using a Logitech mouse but the scroll wheel doesn’t translate well to iPadOS
Here you go! It’s a nice magnetic stand that also charges your iPad. I did a whole video on it that you can watch on my channel. Link to purchase: www.amazon.com/dp/B0D4Q139XP?maas=maas_adg_FAD7319B8F7A49C4F099807182B0698B_afap_abs&ref_=aa_maas&tag=maas
I am an ipad user as well. I agree with all your points but it seems they are the same informations you illustrated before. I noticed ipad youtube content creators regurgitate the same things over and over. I would appreciate specific use of some apps or shortcuts automation instead of semantics.
The reason the iPad mini doesn’t have a Face ID, is because when it’s grabbed people may not use it vertically like an iPhone or a MacBook. Where once the laptop is flipped up the camera is centered. The iPad Mini would need a second horizontal camera also to have Face ID. Assuring the psychology of how humans use devices. This would also make the iPad mini become iPhone prices. The balance is a fingerprint
Creating presentation - What app do you use? MS office is terrible on iPad Writing documentation - Same point above. (looks like you are only using notes) Email - ok Editing a lot of video - where do you store your video? File system on iPad is beyond garbage. Creating graphics - How did you transfer files from wherever to iPad? Seems like your workflow is minimal. And most of your stuff seems to be content consumption.
Even going back to the 2020 version of the iPad Pro with a A type processor, you had MORE THAN ENOUGH power to run Excel/PowerPoint/Word apps that were closer to their desktop versions than the brain-damaged versions that we have. There are TONS of useful features that are just completely MISSING from these apps! Things like, oh, printing a worksheet with a header or footer or grid lines. WTF MICROSOFT???? The Google apps are worse. The Apple apps are just weird. But what is SUPREMELY ANNOYING is that if those apps are installed YOU CANNOT RUN THE BROWSER VERSIONS! Seriously? Why are you taking away MY CHOICE?! Like your inability to edit a template without going into Keynote I find all sorts of little dumbass BS decisions forced on the user for which there are NO GOOD EXPLANATIONS. This kind of crap introduces a lot of FRICTION into what should be seamless processes. I’m sorry but Apple, Google and Microsoft all deserve a kick in the butt over this. They and the influencers who push the notion that you can do it all on an iPad are gaslighting the people. You can run fully featured, desktop class office apps on far less capable hardware that even an M1 iPad. So why the hell can’t we? I want to know…
Definitely not. I have been using my iPad Pro for years as my laptop replacement. I can do all of my stuff on it easily with the added function of touchscreen whether that be scanning documents, taking notes, etc… I used to be a public speaker and did keynote presentations, I did all of my masters and doctoral work on it through school. They have professional video and photo editors out there for it. You absolutely can do real work on it and only niche things is where you are limited. Those who say you can’t do “real work” on an ipad either define “real work” as “every single thing you could ever possibly do with a computer” or simply haven’t worked with an iPad long enough to figure out how differently the iPad does things. The problem is that MacBook users want the iPad to do the same things the same way as a MacBook. This is very different than saying the iPad can’t do what a laptop does. As he said in his video, he found a workaround for what he thought he couldn’t do earlier with Microsoft office and the master slide. Great example of what I am talking about.
@ oh well. Programming is not possible , video editing is a struggle, copy paste text is a struggle even with a keyboard , Canva is clumsy etc. Yes it s good for students but not for a real work
