While everyone seems to want iPadOS to run like macOS, I actually love that it’s a native touch-based OS that can work like a laptop with the keyboard. It already handles 90% of my laptop tasks, and I wouldn’t want it to be just another laptop. I appreciate it as it is-the OS brings a sense of simplicity and intuitiveness that macOS just doesn’t offer.
I agree with this premise, but I think this issue here is that this is a $1400 device after everything is said and done. When the iPad was initially dreamt up by Steve Jobs, he saw it as a netbook replacement that would be used in schools as something cheap students could use as a replacement for textbooks and light computing. When you've got something with this level of power and features, you're sort of drifting outside that notion, and I think it's reasonable to expect this to do a lot more.
I don't think many people want to get rid of iPadOS, most want to be able to switch between iPadOS and macOS when they feel like it which should be technically possible since it is the same chips used in MacBooks. Most people just feel that the iPad pro line is going very close to being an actual laptop or notebook and just want apple to actually let it happen which would make it a much more useful device to a lot of people. As it is just now even though you can get a proper laptop style keyboard for it and connect external displays and devices, it is still just a tablet but it is technically capable of so much more and is just held back by the OS.
@@conorstewart2214 I totally understand your point. However, as you mentioned, it’s a tablet-first device. That said, I can’t think of a better solution than having a touch-based OS with optional keyboard and trackpad support. Trying to fully integrate both paradigms into one OS often results in a subpar experience for both use cases, as seen with Windows 11’s gimmicky touch support. @@KyleErickson Apple’s design philosophy would never allow the option to boot an iPad into a different OS-and while I wish it could, I understand why they don’t. For Apple, seamlessness is everything, and the iPad’s keyboard and trackpad are considered accessories, not core to the device. Asking users to choose an OS just to watch Netflix or use touch-based apps would break their vision of a cohesive experience. Instead, what truly needs improvement is the App Store and its ecosystem. Apple should push for a revamp of iPad application design patterns, encouraging developers to create experiences tailored for the iPad, rather than simply scaling up stretched versions of mobile apps.
I think the M4 iPad Pro could become the default device for any work that isn't really computationally intensive if they just allowed you to duel boot macOS. Since the M1 iPad Pro the main let down with the pro iPad's have been iPadOS being too basic to take advantage of the hardware and make iPad's usable for things they can't really do with iPadOS atm.
I have the M2 iPad Pro and looked briefly at getting the M4. Using it in the shop I couldn’t tell the functional difference, the OLED screen wasn’t noticeably smoother than my mini-LED. The screen does look.a TINY bit bigger, but when I’d have to buy a new keyboard and pencil, and it would only be worth upgrading to the 16GB model, I worked out that even with trade-in, I would be spending £1800. So I’ve kept my M2 Pro and spent the money on a gaming pc instead.
Is it worth it over previous pro models? For me it’s a hell no! I returned mine because though the OLED screen is great it’s not a night and day difference from the mini-LED or even the LCD screens for that matter. As far as a media consumption device I think the price is ridiculous. You can get an OLED television for that price
Really cool to see someone, using stage manager, too :). I go iPad only with my 11" M2 and it works for me. Although I wish I had a mac, especially for ms office, the iPad is the far better better device for single use.
If Capture One Pro ever develops an iPad version that has 90% of the functions of their desktop versions, (I shoot with Fujifilm cameras) I would only have an iPad Pro and not an iMac or a MacBook Pro. That’s how great photo editing is on an iPad Pro.
Great Video! I have never used a device that much. It took some time to get used to the file management and the missing multi tasking but the iPad Pro is the best tablet I ever used.
It’s interesting 11” iPad Pro still makes iPad mini 7 more conveniently comfortable to you. I own the 12.9 iPad Pro, I didn’t think 11” would do that. I guess it’s about the canvas where an artist has needs for full paintings and the handy pad companion. ❤ nice round up review. I would personally give up mini convenience to use my iPad in my use case.
I've also loved using my M4 iPad Pro 11" since launch. I think you should also try out the "more space" display mode under display/brightness settings and it makes the iPad feel like there's a lot more space than the normal scaling mode
i agree with a lot you've said here... I took the plunge & got one, purely wanted mostly for music reasons, and some graphics (pixelmator limited with pencil pro) i'd gone from a 2016 i think it was. 9'7 screen which felt heavier somewhat... for a couple of weeks or so, i've enjoyed using it so far, even transitioning everything wasnt too painful, as it was user error, took 2 tried, but flawless the second time.. the one awkwardness found is the more you tilt the screen, trying to type back letters, the fingers knock the screen edge. the pencil pro was a nice surprise to use.. over all its been good using music apps and the limited pixelmator app.. which i hope they will implement extra controls in a later version.
Are you bothered by the 480hz frequency PWM dimming of the tandem OLED? I acknowledge that most people’s eyes are not sensitive to flickering, however, there are still many people arguing that they suffer from side effects by the pulses of OLED, especially when it comes to a low frequency of 480 times per second.
I'm not sure if it was just my unit. Or is it a tandem OLED drawback. But when watching HDR videos. If there's a light, let's say a lamp. It just becomes two lamps, hope you got what I mean but it bothered me. And the display coating was just horrible. It only looks like an OLED in pitch dark environment.
I find myself pretty much using my 13 inch M4 all the time. I think it's the convenience of having cellular. I leave my laptop at home almost every day. The new keyboard feels great and the pencil pro is amazing. I was disappointed after the release but since apples AI updates I can't put it down.
For me, the 13-inch iPad Pro with the M4 chip has completely replaced my Mac, which I eventually sold. I still keep a Windows PC for gaming, as Windows remains the dominant platform for PC games. Beyond that, mobile devices have taken over tasks I used to perform on laptops. The iPad’s design offers a simplicity that traditional PC operating systems lack, yet it doesn’t feel limiting. With cloud services now available for various tasks, an iPad meets the needs of most people, alongside a smartphone, of course. I’m eager to see how artificial intelligence will influence and transform computing in general.
In the USA, carriers offer installment payment plans. The initial cost is not paid upfront. Any taxes or down payments depend on your account status or if you are a new customer. I wonder if those issues you are having are only you or an unknown issue.
It is expensive but always has been, and prices have been stable over the last few cycles. The pricing is obvious, and people who cannot afford it will not buy it. So, it is really about those who can afford it and whether they should upgrade this year. As with the MacBooks and iPhones, Apple has made such great devices for the last 4-5 years that they remain relevant, and owners are finding it hard to justify an upgrade even with the new OLED and M4. I only upgraded from my M1 iPad Pro 11 because that never had miniLED, so the display is a good upgrade, and the M4 is a nice step up. It may be harder to justify for owners of iPad Pro 13-inch M1s. A fantastic piece of kit that hopefully will last for 5-7 years.
The other day I ordered a iPad Air 11 to replace my 8 year old 12.9 iPad Pro 2nd gen. The screen cracked 2x and the battery is just about completely shot. I ended up cancelling it and just picked up a 11 pro m4 fomo I really didn’t want to spend the money and it’s hard to justify it. I figure that if my 12.9 lasted 8 years and it’s still usable then I should spend the extra 300 to future proof myself as much as possible. I do occasionally use it to edit photos in Lightroom and I want to start simple edits of some videos occasionally. Hard to say if I made the right decision but the display quality is pretty amazing. One other reason I went with the pro. I do go down to Florida to hang out with the parental units a few times a year and I do use it outside. My 2nd gen 12.9 is supposedly 600 nits. It is usable outside but not great. I was worried that going the wrong way with the 500 nits 11” air wasn’t going to be good outside
The issues with the new Magic Keyboard that you mentioned is also present on the previous Magic Keyboard. I have the M2 iPad Pro and the first version of the Magic Keyboard and I have experienced the issues you mentioned. When I use the safari version of the gdocs suite I have to press the “no I’m not interested” button to remove the app download popup, and sometimes the trackpad also sticks and does not scroll the page. Surprising and disappointing to see that Apple hasn’t fixed that with the new Magic Keyboard.
Since i got my m4 iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard 3 months ago, I haven’t even touched my MacBook Pro 16” M1 Max. Not once, considering selling it but i know if i ever need a laptop ill just end up spending way more than id sell it for to get another one so its just collecting dust right now lol
I’ve noticed that using my notes app on my iPad m4 iPad causes the notes app to get pretty warm and chew through battery pretty quickly? Anyone else notice that?
Gosh, I've got the older iPad Pro before the M1 chip, and I really wish it had external screen support (extended). But I'm not keen on buying a new keyboard and pencil all over again... I'm gonna see if I can snag a good deal on the iPad Pro M2 this Black Friday. If not, well, I might just have to treat myself anyway... So expensive, lol!
I don’t like leaving negative comments but this video felt more like a rehash of the last review. Also I own this iPad and rarely get two days of battery life, even when I’m just consuming content
I’m an artist using a 13 iPad pro m4. The battery sucks, as well as the camera. It heats up a lot. My illustration apps freeze and lag, some crash. I’m pretty dissapointed with this new iPad Pro. The screen is pretty though, but that’s about it.
How big is the diffrence between the Pro's display and the iPad mini 7 LCD display? Ofc it is completely diffrent but you said you prefer the iPad mini rn so that is why I am wondering.
My bro you definitely have something wrong with your Magic Keyboard. I’ve got the 12.9 and it hasn’t had a single hiccup. I would get really annoyed if I spelt that much money and it wouldn’t scroll properly. Take it to Apple. You have footage. Web number was defective a few tears ago I filmed it and they replaced it I in 5 seconds no questions asked.
Do you use a screen protector? I am going to upgrade mine and I was thinking to go without any protection, just use the Magic Keyboard with the iPad. How scratch resistant is the screen?
I use a screen protector because I got some really faint scratches on mine. It's a double edged sword because it protects the screen, but you also put a little more distance between teh pencil and screen, and it's a little more reflective.
Not to sound annoying, but when it comes to the google web applications like sheets, you're not able to use trackpad or mouse clicks on that pop-up button at the bottom.. I have the same problem on my iPad Pro M2 when using my Magic Keyboard or mouse. I also have the problem with the trackpad not scrolling sometimes. Hope this helps.
I’m going to buy the iPad Pro 11 256gb (gotta save money) and I’m buying a random esr case I hope the 256gb are enough I will take notes play some games and watch UA-cam and Netflix is the 256gb enough ?
For Netflix, note taking and UA-cam 256gb is great but if you have to download a lot of stuff such as audiobooks and/ or movies especially as well as doing a lot of photography it’s probably best to get an iPad with more storage. Games don’t usually take up that much storage and should be fine for 256gb.
Same here. Which is frustrating because I want to use the pro more at work. Taking notes in meetings and for whatever else but the mini is just smaller and not as awkward to use
I’m hesitant to buy it because the OLED screen might suffer from burn-in or develop a green tint over a long period of use. Even Samsung’s OLED screens have faced this issue, which makes me concerned about its durability.
Bruh modern oled last upwards of 5 years. Here apple is using 2 oled panels, so each individual panel has to work even less hard, so it will last even longer. And none of Samsung’s new flagship oled screens have faced any burn in, cheaper panel of course will
its using tandem oled technology which apparently drastically reduces it / eliminates it, i have the 13 inch m4 ipad pro and the screen is stunning and so bright for the size
It’s not really an issue anymore, the screens technology improvements, on top of the tandem design which reduces the required brightness for each panel, they also use pixel shift. If you kept it at maximum brightness on the same image for days I imagine it would burn in over time but that’s not a realistic use case.
the iPad Pro line up is the most beautiful, useless device ever made. At that price point, it's day light robbery with that OS. I own one and can't wait to sell it.

That would kill MacBook sales
Thanks for the thorough followup. I opt for older gen iPads and 3rd party cases, they do a fine job at a better price.
Followup?! This is day 1 review with a files app bug report for colour.
Couldn’t justify the upgrade from my m2. iPad Pro. I love the thing.
Fwiw ... for my artist wife, we decided on getting a M4 Pro MBP and using her m1 iPad Pro in Sidecar Mode.
Does your wife like it? I do also looking for a gift to my artist wife
@@chcylabrab She won't receive it until Dec 2...so can't say yet ;)
Is it worth it over previous pro models? For me it’s a hell no! I returned mine because though the OLED screen is great it’s not a night and day difference from the mini-LED or even the LCD screens for that matter. As far as a media consumption device I think the price is ridiculous. You can get an OLED television for that price
I’ve been rocking a 4th gen (pre m1) ipad pro since 2020, never had any problems and I’ve used it pretty much every single day.
Really cool to see someone, using stage manager, too :). I go iPad only with my 11" M2 and it works for me. Although I wish I had a mac, especially for ms office, the iPad is the far better better device for single use.
I had a 12.9 inch m1 just got the new m4 there’s a massive change in the display
If Capture One Pro ever develops an iPad version that has 90% of the functions of their desktop versions, (I shoot with Fujifilm cameras) I would only have an iPad Pro and not an iMac or a MacBook Pro. That’s how great photo editing is on an iPad Pro.
Have an M3 Macbook Air and iPad mini. Great combo.
Great Video! I have never used a device that much. It took some time to get used to the file management and the missing multi tasking but the iPad Pro is the best tablet I ever used.
Nice overview of the updates. Thanks. Just might consider the upgrade in the next 6 months
The video is amazing and very informative, but even as an ESL, I sped it to x1.25 speed, it felt like it was meant to be on that speed.
One of the best iPad I have ever purchased only limitations is iPadOS I Have bought 11 inch bcos I like compact instead of 13 inch
This whole package still is just way too expensive for what it is. Better off getting and older M1 iPad Pro package or a newer MBA.
Wow this was a bold statement. Is your windows system a high-performance notebook or desktop?
In the USA, carriers offer installment payment plans. The initial cost is not paid upfront. Any taxes or down payments depend on your account status or if you are a new customer. I wonder if those issues you are having are only you or an unknown issue.
The Magic Keyboard is definitely something i would like for my iPad but I just can’t see myself justifying £300 on a keyboard
Love the wuality of your videoes! keep posting
Just bought the M4 iPad 1tb because the Mac mini m4 has the same cpu gpu and neural engine
my ditto and ESR cases have snug slot around pencil location, no worry about pencil getting nudge or knocked off.
I thought those light bulbs were the Falcon rockets landing lol
I was thinking getting a m4 MacBook Pro but this base 11 inch m4 iPad Pro plus a m4 Mac mini may be the best for my use case.
I’ve noticed that using my notes app on my iPad m4 iPad causes the notes app to get pretty warm and chew through battery pretty quickly? Anyone else notice that?
me too , no one is talking about it
Gosh, I've got the older iPad Pro before the M1 chip, and I really wish it had external screen support (extended).
Thanks great review. Btw which softwares do you use for drawing ? Thanks
Procreate, and affinity photo mostly on the iPad
I have the magic keyboard, but also a $30 Bluetooth keyboard that works great, with the iPad on a stand with magic trackpad is great
Which app are you using to create the red overlaps in several scenes of this video? Is this for reduction of blue light?
How is your battery? My 13" was draining 3% per hour on standby I had to get rid of it. is the 11 better?
Still no headphone jack! at that price, I think it's incredible ,)
Web number was defective a few tears ago I filmed it and they replaced it I in 5 seconds no questions asked.
can you use the magic keyboard while using that esr case?
I wish the Magic Keyboard had some weight to it so it didn’t tip over so easily.
I am interested in the LiDAR sensor.
Do you use a screen protector? I am going to upgrade mine and I was thinking to go without any protection, just use the Magic Keyboard with the iPad.
How scratch resistant is the screen?
I decided against the Nanotexture and use Paperlike instead because the only thing I fear are permanent scratches.
I use a screen protector because I got some really faint scratches on mine. It's a double edged sword because it protects the screen, but you also put a little more distance between teh pencil and screen, and it's a little more reflective.
Wish I could have afforded the Nanotechnology with 1TB because that’s good for creativity
Hate that SSD issue with iPadOS!
I really doubt all of these battery claims. My 13" M4 battery SUCKS, and I barely use or push the thing.
Definitely not worth buying.
Any overheating problems? I’ve found this model has a lot of battery drain and now even more after 18.1- even if Apple intelligence is turned off.
Ya I have turned it off and now it’s not heating I’m from India but I set iPad to US English
Ilove my case protect from esr is great thanks for the review
another good update video KE.
Mine catches heat really fast on apple pencil utilization
I have the pro and mini but find myself using the mini more.
Same here. Which is frustrating because I want to use the pro more at work. Taking notes in meetings and for whatever else but the mini is just smaller and not as awkward to use
The battery life for me has been bad. It would die in 1-2 hour gaming
what a great device costs more than a laptop and hasn't even bend in the first months
casually watching this on my ipad pro m4 13”
I was just searching for ipad vs galaxy tab ultra
My ipad pro m4 11 inch drains battery from 80 to 20% in 4hrs in normal usage
Is it normal?
I don't like or have Apple products, but I adore your videos. You are so handsome. I like all your videos.
Wtf..
My battery health is 90 just 4 months
I’m hesitant to buy it because the OLED screen might suffer from burn-in or develop a green tint over a long period of use. Even Samsung’s OLED screens have faced this issue, which makes me concerned about its durability.
Has this issue been resolved, or could it still happen at any time?
Bruh modern oled last upwards of 5 years. Here apple is using 2 oled panels, so each individual panel has to work even less hard, so it will last even longer.
And none of Samsung’s new flagship oled screens have faced any burn in, cheaper panel of course will
its using tandem oled technology which apparently drastically reduces it / eliminates it, i have the 13 inch m4 ipad pro and the screen is stunning and so bright for the size
Buy it, this has to be the most beautiful display I had ever came across
It’s not really an issue anymore, the screens technology improvements, on top of the tandem design which reduces the required brightness for each panel, they also use pixel shift. If you kept it at maximum brightness on the same image for days I imagine it would burn in over time but that’s not a realistic use case.
the iPad Pro line up is the most beautiful, useless device ever made. At that price point, it's day light robbery with that OS.
I own one and can't wait to sell it.
Hey

May was 5 months ago, not 6.

10:47 Sex doll seized by Canadian border agents in Ontario, man from N.S. charged.
I was paused at 10:47 wondering if you were just trolling or being a goofball, and it wasn’t until I played the video for 1 seconds past your timeframe that I saw a glance at the sex dollcthing, look, if we finally beat Medicaid. Thank you President Biden, President trump? Well he did beat Medicare he beat it by a lot
just carry a laptop if u need a track pad goofy
hhhh
mwone pora ninte review ,

almost
Yay! First.
if you ain't first you're last
I like the examples of the Magic Keyboard not working were Google web apps.. yeah they suck on iPad. Stop comparing a Pro iPad to an Air MacBook!
Apple does 🤷♂️
Yea its so frustrating that you cant use the mouse / Keyboard in some Apps and Need to use the onscreen Control
@@gwvaio when?
@@KYVTrocks yeah but my point isn’t that it’s safari or the iPad, but google and their apps.
@@PaulAlvarez1 you forgot the whole “what is a laptop” campaign? Why would you need “pro” apps” on a device not meant for it? Why would you develop a keyboard for an iPad if you didn’t want it to look like and compete with MacBook? Come on man.
