My husband grew up in eastern North Carolina. He's 67 and his brother is 63. Everyone helped in the tobacco barns during summers when they were growing up, even their mom! I am 62, and during my first years of working, people smoked at their desks! We didn't know how bad tobacco was for you then. There's a tobacco farm museum in Kenly. We plan to go on one of our visits to NC. I grew up in Michigan, so it will be interesting to see.

My husband and I are about to become empty nesters. For 90% of my married life I have been staying home between raising our two kids or now helping my elderly mom. I want to thank you for being so honest and making this very real. Life can have struggles, but its definitely what we make of it that helps us get through it. I’m still on a budget because we have our daughter in college and about to send our son too. Their future is very important to us as we want them to be on their own with a good educational foundation. I would definitely like more of these videos Lisa and thank you again for sharing good ideas 🌺

This isn’t exactly about budgets, but it is getting into your mind and how you think. My question is; what’s it like for you to know that you’re speaking in front of 20,000+ people every week? Does it ever register with you, that you’re speaking to a crowd of people that could fill a literal stadium every week? The sheer volume of people that you touch weekly is enormous, and I just wondered if that ever hits you in quiet moments of reflection. I’ve been here from day one since you brought out your blushes on a tray and went through them all for us, and really marvel at how you’ve persevered over the years staying here when so many walk away. I bought Chanel’s rose bronze blush because of you, and 10+ years later I’m still here and will continue to be as long as you are. So appreciative of the time and work and thought you put into your channel and your viewers. Love, Carrie.

Lisa, all the Dior oils are labeled "Cherry Oil" right in front as that is the main ingredient. That girl was probably wearing a pinkier one, but told you "Cherry" because that's what she read on the bottle. Hope this helps.

I was so touched by your life story, Michelle. I am sure that you miss your husband and life is short but keep in the back of your mind that you experienced life with a wonderful man and had children. I am 68 and unfortunately I never had a man who loved me for me and share life with your best friend. I was never able to have children and have missed out on so much. Your husband sounds like he was a great guy and provider and I am sorry he left too soon. You have awesome memories and he is still with you in spirit. Take care....

I love how you explain your relationship with John and how you are able to purchase the things you own. I am inspired by marriages like yours because it is clear that truly loving and respecting your spouse is what can unite two people into making goals, working hard, and being able to treat yourselves down the road after years of respecting each other's financial boundaries and appreciating one another's generosity and effort to lay a good foundation. My fiancé and I sound a lot like how you explained you and John in your earlier years of marriage. My fiancé knows I enjoy fashion and beauty the way you do, but we both understand that we have to work hard and earn the things we enjoy. My fiancé is also exceptionally generous towards me when he treats me to things that I try to save up for, he loves surprising me like that and I never expect him going above and beyond for me. I have been loving your channel lately! I am a relatively new subscriber and I love your channel because your taste and style is almost like giving me a peak into the woman I want to become in the future (I'm 23!).

I love your videos, your so positive, and calm, your voice is sweet & relaxing! I'm 64 and retired. I've always loved clothes, makeup, jewerly! I worked hard to dress me and my kids and send them to College. I spend to much $ now that I'm retired, on clothes, jewerly, ect. Because retirement is less than what I made working. Having a home, was & is top priority, I dont like renting. I wish you would write a book for Newlyweds, and a book for young Moms, and one for older women to feel their best. The main thing you helped me with is when you said about dieting, is to not Lie to yourself on what u eat. That helped me so much, cuz it not just what others see you eat, it's what you eat when your alone, ect, and to be accountable for yourself helped me tremendously! Thank you Lisa!! So I was size 18 jean, & 1X top, now I'm Xl top and 16 and some 14 jeans..I mainly shop at Maurices, always been my Fav store! Thank you so much!! And write those books, also write book about dieting advice & tips. Advise for fashion after 40 or 50yrs.

Lisa, you do such a great job at showcasing items for us at every price point. I appreciate that about you, it helps to include every woman no matter what her budget might be. It would be great to see you do high end fashion videos and also include the same look at a budget price point.

This was a great topic Lisa. I have always worked and made my own money. I got married in my late 20s and we continued to keep our finances separate. We didn't have kids and it just worked for us. However I shopped way too much so I did hide alot of purchases in the beginning lol Now that we are basically retired in our 60s we still have separate accts and I still make extra spending money selling on like Poshmark etc so I have money of my own besides my investment acct to buy things or get my nails done etc. It just wouldn't feel right to me to have only one acct we both use or to ask for money to buy something. I'm not talking big expenses obviously like a car or house but like clothes or makeup etc. I also love to thrift so I'm not a big high end brand name girl. I love TJMaxx and Marshall's! So it works for us because we've always done it this way and we didn't have a family to support. I've always been independent and like making my own money even now in my 60s 😀

Do you return things? Do you try things and return them? Do you keep everything that you buy? Do you donate the make up that you don’t like? Are you able to deduct many shopping expenses because you are operating a business? How is that structured? I bet lots of people would like to know…. For as much as you buy on a weekly basis I am guessing you can’t possibly use up all of it… I think many things you send to the resale shop as I recall… My husband does very well but there is no way I could afford to buy as much as you do on a weekly basis… Please let us know how you structure that.

Hey Lisa! Great advice and I remember your Friday hauls way back when! I looked forward to them every week (and still do!). I think the decaying of our society has so much to do with mothers having to work outside of the home. I’m not saying working moms are a bad thing, but that two incomes have been necessary to live and provide for a family requiring women who would rather stay home having to get a job. Anyway, have a great weekend!!

I don’t think anyone in todays society encourages their daughters to not have a career and be able to support themselves. Woman need to be independent and not get married to have someone control them. Marriage is 50/50 … raising kids is 50/50. Just because he may bring in the paycheck and she may decide to stay home and raise kids doesn’t mean he controls your spending. A stay at home mom should get paid… and do with her portion what she wants🤷‍♀️ I always hated seeing my mom feel guilty spending money on herself because my dad worked outside the house and she stayed home to raise her 3 kids. Was her hard work worth nothing 🤔🤷‍♀️ just saying 😊

I see your point and I do not necessarily disagree; however keep in mind that there is not just one way of doing things and if someone else's life style/values are different does not mean they are wrong. We all should be able to do what we know or feel is right for us. " you do not play basketball by football rules". I cannot live my life by your values (generally speaking).

It can be done…finding someone that meets YOUR criteria never settle for less and honestly how they treat their mothers and their family their work ethic and their beliefs those are the usually the qualities you can see right up front don’t fall into a trap of thinking you can change them or you can settle…trust your instincts they are usually right! I believe there is someone for everyone and I firmly agree with Lisa just be up front from the get go of what kind of future you want if you are not on the same page then you are doing yourself a major favor by moving on! I was a stay at home mom in my first marriage and shared a vehicle with my husband. I still had my BS in Biology and knew that I could go out in my own and earn myself a living and do well. My son thrived from me having the opportunity to do so. I think it’s a decision you make with your spouse and you do what you feel is best. I went back to school after my divorce, earned my Masters and began teaching. Met my second husband, and between my son still being in school and my husbands two children being in school, I was more beneficial at being a stay at home mom and homemaker which I happen to love. I don’t regret it, I have a lot of responsibility but my drive, my ability, and education are things that no one can take away from me. Everyone has to do what’s best for them!

Hello Beautiful & Sweet Lisa..I haven’t been on you tube much at all bc since my husband retired last July starting in February his health just spiraled to the point that not only was he in the hospital for almost two months..he hit deaths door three times..so when I get to watch you tube it’s on my Roku TV..I had to get on my laptop, sign on to leave this comment..I always love your fashion, makeup videos but I have always loved the ones about life, marriage, kids and family…I felt like you told my story at the end as well..we will be married 40 years this November 41 all together..He is also 9 years older…my husband was a budget man and I was put on one as well…I worked off and on but I worked only while my son was at school..I attended all of his activities and of course I wanted to follow my mama’s steps bc she stayed home and raised her 3 daughters..so those little fun jobs was my play money..now that we have retired the budget is back into action haha!! Lisa you should do more of these kinds of videos..you are very good with great encouragement for the younger ladies just starting out..now when hubs retired and before his illness took over our lives..I have to say there was a bit of adjustment having him home every day..I had the house to myself with my own schedule for 39 years ..now I absolutely love waking up and having coffee together..great video..hope all is well with you and your family..much love🥰

Fun to Earn...I remember that feeling of getting a job when I was younger (I still work at 55), but what a great feeling that always was for me. I'm not sure if the majority of people young and not so young, have any of those same feelings I had just having a job and being independent. I never asked my parents or my husband for any money. NEVER. If I couldn't earn it or pay for things myself, I just did without them.

UA-cam definitely changed everyone’s spending habits, before UA-cam I never cared or even noticed expensive bags and shoes on other people. I’m 41 now but I didn’t buy my first “high end” makeup until I was 23 and it was only a couple of items and that was it, I only had a small makeup bag and that was everything. We also didn’t have sephora back then either.
Now I have a whole clothing drawer of makeup and a whole drawer of perfumes too

Great video and you just exude joy! Loved the story about budgeting. I’ve been both a stay at home and working outside the home mom. My kids are adults now but I remember when I stayed at home, my husband and I really had to budget on his income. We talk about how that was some of our happiest memories because we really worked together and found joy in the small things. Our splurge was to take the kids to the mall on a Saturday and eat in the food court lol! I liked how you interspersed a topic like this along with your Friday haul. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for being so open about this, it's something I've wondered about since I started watching you a long time ago (and maybe missed a video where you've touched on it) but I really just assumed John handed you money every week to shop. Even if he did, that's fine but I respect you a lot more knowing you earn your own money for such luxury items purchased so often. Even though I would never spend the money on these items (I would rather have luxury items in my barn haha) I still love watching your excitement when you get them. Love the jeans!!

Lisa, you have been my favorite youtuber for years and years, I just don't comment much. Your down to earth-ness, calming voice, sincerity and relatibility are all reasons why! I do have a question as I'm in business for myself and have always wondered, because you tube is your job, do you get to write off the things you buy on your taxes? I have just always wondered that (and this is in no disrespectful At All because you are doing this for us and it is indeed a job!!) Thank you for all your content, it All inspires me. 💞

Lisa, I still don't understand why people do not get that this is your job and if you love the items you get, then that is a bonus. Just very odd to me that you have to explain that over and over. You aren't the only influencer - blogger who faces that personal question. I have seen a few answering the same thing. Anyway, I would like to know what it is like to live by the ocean. That was always my dream but I have always been stuck inland. While growing up it was in Colorado which is an absolutely beautiful state. Now I am stuck in NY. I won't go into the many reasons whyI hate it here but I married someone who was born here and so it was my choice to do my best to try to like where I live. It hasn't been easy but after years I realized it isn't that important. Family and loved ones are. Have a great weekend!

I just turned 62, was divorced at age 58 after 21 yrs of marriage to a man who never respected me, who was emotionally & verbally abusive towards me, ridiculed me, etc. It was such a terrible, roller coaster marriage with crazy up and down emotions all the time, although for the last 5-6 years of my marriage I was more miserable than anything else - just incredibly sad, so sad right down to my core, devastated, emotionally raw and wounded after 2 decades of marriage to a man who chose to withhold any and all affection as a way of hurting and punishing me. I was lacking any self-confidence and afraid and worried for my future. Obviously my unhappy marriage was the complete opposite of what Lisa’s is and has been, the absolute polar opposite. But I am blessed to have two beautiful kids (well, young adults now at 21 & 23), and like you, the marriage that Lisa describes having is what I pray for/desperately long for *for my kids*. A long, happy, successful marriage is just not in the cards for me personally - sadly, that dream has passed me by. But I pray so hard that my kids are able to find it for themselves, and I fervently pray this same prayer every single night of my life. Sad thing is, my two kids certainly have a disadvantage already in that area, as they grew up witnessing such a poor marriage …but I hope and pray that God will reward them after they were forced to grow up inside & witness firsthand such a miserable marriage … and I hope and pray he has a beautiful one awaiting each of them ..🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@susanbilawchuk1192 thank you very much for your kind words❤️. And yes, by age 62, I think I realize just as there are certainly no perfect people, there are no perfect marriages. But I was never wanting or looking for “perfect.” I just longed for healthy, respectful, and not abusive. If I were in my 30’s when I divorced, or even in my 40’s, I’d probably still hold out hope for someday .. ….but now at my age (when things on my body are already starting to fail me!🫤), I believe that ship has likely sailed for me already. Like I said, my hope now rests with my kids …that their marriages may be strong, healthy, respectful & loving🙏🏼

I am wondering if the lip oil shade was the Berry or Raspberry Dior as they look brighter... because on the side of the packaging on all the shades it says "Cherry Oil" do you think the person that told you the name was cherry, may have just read the outside of the packaging and saw cherry?

Hi Lisa, I was so inspired by your mother/daughter shopping trip to Nordstrom that I wanted to do a little shopping right away but because I don't have the Nordstrom credit card I had to wait until the 14th. As soon as the 14th hit, I jumped online and scored a few things I am excited about! I too was a stay-at-home mom and I loved it! I agree with everything you said , I was also lucky enough also to stay home and raise my three sons , but in todays society unfortunately everyone has to work to pay the bills today it’s a luxury to be a stay at home mom , today you need both salaries just to survive .
The prices of homes here on the north shore of Long Island is insane not to mention our taxes , highest in the country beside California
Things today are just not the same as it was 20 yrs ago …
