I like how you talk about color and intention since sometimes fashion content or minimalism makes it seem like we are all allergic to color

Early in the video you were talking about white, cream, black, and taupe, and mentioned brown and camel as “pops of color.” Girl, if you think brown and camel are pops of color, you absolutely need a neutral wardrobe!
Also. If you have, say, 250 images and ONE of them is a print, I think you just like that print, and maybe you shouldn’t clutter your thinking with the idea of keeping a couple of pieces that are prints. Maybe a nice, neutral print belongs to your fantasy self.
    Loved this video! You rock!
    🥰

Get a sky blue coat, it"s so versatile!!!That colour kinda works like denim! When I was pregnant I couldn't find any coats that fit...but then one day I found this a-line coat, sky blue (I was having a boy so it was PERFECT❤) and made out of this very soft, "curly" wool. The shape of the coat now that I'm not pregnant is very mod-like, 60s vibes and I love it! I just adore to wear it with red accents - but I do love contrast in my outfits. You could pair it with rust and/or camel, it would be perfect on you...

It seems like you’ve really embraced a piece of wisdom that I heard years ago: you can appreciate the beauty of something without needing to *own* it. It goes counter to today’s consumer culture, but it’s true, and very liberating.

I love how this hairstyle is working for you! Very old school glamour. You remind me a bit of Marilyn Monroe.

Yes, it really looks phenomenal!! Just a little more tousled than Marilyn, but the wavyness and the volume and length are kind of similar. I could never with my thin, straight hair...

In thinking about your pops of color, I remembered one of the most helpful tools for mixing and matching color: the Tibi color wheel. They break it into four levels-black, neutrals, no color colors, and bold colors which demonstrate the level of contrast and how it impacts the overall feel of an outfit. The blue with camel is a good example of depth and richness between colors…all this to say when styling your colorful sweaters, if you reduce contrast while using a no-color color, it’ll actually give your look a neutral feel while still incorporating bold color.

Living for this. Southern hemisphere so the high waisted wide leg merinos transitioning into the cotton and gauze but same silhouette. My neutrals are black, navy, and a murky olive. I have also realized that the a line skirt is my friend. The tops have been all over the place, so now curating down the colors. I work from home but hub is a diplomat, so level 3 is absolute minimum even at home and most days 4 and a great sprinkling of 5. After your level video, I was able to viciously curate my level 5, yeet level 1 entirely, the barest level 2. Currently trying to pare 3 way down and I need this planning process for 4 SO much, so thanks again.

It's really interesting to me that you legit can have one moodboard for your style. There are at least 4 distinct people i want to look like and ive come to terms with making each season its own person

I’m 44 and have spent the last four years refining and intentionally curating my wardrobe. I’ve decided the fabrics, colors, number of shoes in different styles, handbag colors and sizes, makeup colors and quantities, personal hygiene items, but I have yet to really understand clothing style and cut as it relates to my body. You are helping me continue my process, too!

Yes!!! I have basically always worn black and white like this and when I was pregnant I rented a winter coat in that exact blue color from rent the runway and it was THE BEST. It convinced me that a statement winter coat is IT especially when a wardrobe is all neutrals. I now also have a statement boot in a bold color for spring and fall (I am questing for a bold summer shoe). Just one forever item per season that brings color when everything is neutral.

I've been dying to tell someone about this who might actually care, and this comment section feels right: Super high-waisted wide-leg pants recommendation: Siena Wide-Leg Italian Wool Pant from Banana Republic. I've been obsessed with COS pants for a couple years now, but these have an even higher rise than the current COS ones, a crazy-long inseam, a lighter-weight 100% wool, and the same adjustable inner waistband with the elastic and buttons that COS does.

This is such an inspiration for me! I'm 32, I'm about to get married, and I'm in a place financially, with my fiancé's help, to begin to build a quality wardrobe. We do not have much excess, but my fiancé is also of the mind to buy something of quality once that will last a lifetime rather than finding the cheapest thing possible and buying it over and over again. I have begun with two brown leather bags that are different sizes and styles but the same color and the quality of the bags has been such a relief as I carry them every day. I get to watch them get worn in slowly, knowing they are tough enough to hold up rather than disintegrate before my eyes, and I'm so excited to research my own style and find the key staples of my wardrobe to upgrade.

Loafers are generally such a structured look - and I’ve thought about them as well - but since so many of your pinned looks have a softness I think flats would fit very well.

Thanks for sharing your insights, Hannah. I've been transitioning from rather maximalist to rather minimalist dressing over the past few years like you and keep finding your insights very helpful. Funnily enough, the Yin/Yang principle has also been on my mind lately. I've been thinking with the Style Essences (as defined by Morton, McJimsey, Kibbe and Kitchener), wondering what balance and harmony mean to me and for my own body. Not surprisingly, I have come to the conclusion that I am leaning towards the Classic style essence. And while in the beginning I felt a strong reluctance to the idea of dressing what some people might call formal or even conservative, the idea of owning a collection of polished, high quality garments that make you feel not only put together and Dressed but expensive and luxurious (in the sense of being fully alive and HERE for it) is what actually matters.
Wishing you all the joy as you are shopping your wardrobe like a child unwrapping presents on Christmas day. 🎁❤

I remember watching your older videos and feeling like you would look so good in neutral colors… and now you’re shifting towards that kind of palette! In contrast, I only wore black, white, cream, and camel and I am now learning about my color season and contrast, etc. and trying to branch out into wearing more colors! Just a beautiful reminder that expressing ourselves through fashion and makeup can be a boundless journey ❤ PS I love these relaxed, casual talking videos of yours!

Talking from my own experience, basic loafers for me are better than chunky soles. I bought the chunky and now regret.. I would rather keep the basic ones for a lot more long time . For the trouser pants I feel exacltly the same! Why not wearing things you love, even when home office? I do !

I keep my wardrobe in quite a minimal state, largely second hand, and buy/sell seasonally online to keep it fresh. It's a "romantic feminine whimsy" vibe with pockets of comfort (Norwegian wool jumpers galore) and I suppose I "dopamine dress" a bit with bright yellows, corals, blues and greens. Of course I've fallen prey to the "colour analysis" trend (my season is spring) but that's helped me experiment a bit with colours I enjoy but didn't think of wearing. I try to not take it all too seriously since my closet is this ever evolving thing based on my mood, time of year, lifestyle and budget 😅

hannah - or anyone in the comments - is it worth looking down the path of kibbe or someone like allison bornstein? I love this minimal/polished/oversized/structured look but every time I try I just look like two kids stacked in a trench coat, it’s absolutely comical and I after so many failed attempts is it time to learn “style lines”? has it helped anyone spend less?

    • @MisssPandora
      @MisssPandora Годину тому

      It helped me!
I was constantly trying to pull off the "cool girl" look with oversized but structured pieces in high contrast of black and white. Like oversized blazers, squared oversized Ts etc. And I felt terrible even though I loved the aesthetic on paper. Then I looked into Kibbe and turned out I'm Romantic and structure & oversized is the worst combination for me 😅
But slowly I learned what to choose for my body type that still fits the vibe I want. Game changer for me for sure.

After motherhood, and during this time of tiny humans, I've realized I pretty much only love olive green, brown or black, and eggplant purple as colors to wear. 😅 As I come out of my first year as a mom of two, my wardrobe is being culled greatly, and those colors are the only ones staying.
