How to insulate your Vauxhall Vivaro van conversion

- In this video, I show you how I've insulated my Vauxhall Vivaro van to be ready for van life. I'm using a 3 part system in my van, starting with Kiravans Thermo Acoustic foam, then recycled bottle insulation followed by felt lining. In this video, I show the Thermo-acoustic foam and insulation process.
Using my GoPro I show a first-person perspective of what this build entails. This section took me a little over one day as I ran out of insulation. But, a short B&Q trip later and I had everything I needed.
I hope you like my videos enough to subscribe, like, comment and share with your friends. I'm in it for the long haul and documenting it for fun.

Hi mate if you don't mind me asking why no vapour barrier?
@@dylanprice5493 literally a question that has plagued me. I watched a lot of videos and did a lot of research. Spoke to my dad too along with some local van conversion companies. Mixed opinions, but basically if you ever put a screw through a vapour barrier it’s pretty void, it becomes for of an air trap than a benefit. As I don’t live in my van and I only use it for weekend trips, it’s never going to build up enough condensation to mould properly. So I thought I’d build it with enough air flow that it will always dry out. Even in winter.
As you can see on my channel I wild camp all year round so I usually just sleep with a window open. Even in - degrees.
What are your thoughts?
@@dylanprice5493 I could also be wrong. But so far, no nasty mould smells and plenty of trips done
Great work Jamie. Can't wait to see the end result.
Thank you
Hard work Jamie, I'm just catching up and absolutely loving seeing this process!
Looking forward to following this!
thanks! ideas for my own vivaro build :)
I’ll be adding a finale video soon as I’ve just had the electrics done.
Where did you get the stick on insulation from and the white insulation
I got it from Kiravans
great work mate, do you remember how many sheets of sound blocker you used? , cheers :)
I can’t remember the exact amount. But I know that I used less than advised. I tried to cover each panel by about 1/3.

Hi Jamie, what extractor fan did you fit and how well does it work - would you recommend ? cheers iain
Hey Ian. I had it fitted by someone else. But worth checking 12V planet. I have a sneak suspicion they bought it from there
Hi mate.. do you know what millimeter thermal acoustic you used? Was is the 7-8mm?
I used this stuff. www.kiravans.co.uk/products/kiravans-vibration-damping
www.kiravans.co.uk/products/van-insulation-lining-self-adhesive-foam-with-foil-inner-surface this is what I bought
Hey did you put battening down ?
Hey no I didn’t. I just screwed the ply boards straight into the metal. I made sure not to screw into the outside of the van too. I used washers where appropriate on the board.
Hi mate, how much insulation did you use?
Wow. This was a while ago. Would have to have a look back through my footage. But I ended up using more recycled bottle insulation than I thought. Probably two big rolls of the stuff managed to get stuffed into all the crevices. And then it was just one roll of the stick on insulation.
@@jamieoutdoors thank you for replying pal :)) this was very helpful
Where are you based? I got lwb vivaro that needs doing
I’m based near Oxford. I don’t do this for a living. But I know some guys near me that use this exact method
