Hi guys really hope you’re enjoying the van conversion! I know it’s all van build van build and more van build but very soon I’ll be back on the road for some more dodgy stealth camps and fun filled adventures!
Thanks for not faking it and showing us how it really go’s when doing all this. I have really enjoyed the first 4 episodes looking forward to the rest.
Those things at 8:54 is factory sound deadening. You can place the MLV over those panels as those areas are more prone to vibrating as deemed from the OEM.
Good to see you aren't cutting corners. For all the frustration of the time taken to do this properly, you'll end up with a far better product, and peace of mind for years to come. No regrets. Loving the work to date and excited to see it all come together. Kudos!
We completed our van conversion about 4 months ago , the best source of information out there in my opinion is Camper Vibes channel. Lou and Emily completed a Citroen Relay ( Same shape van) conversion and without that channel our Van wouldn't look anywhere near how it does today. Lou makes in depth videos on literally every part of the build, and anything you're unsure of you can probably find a video from them. We opted for a stealth approach and we didn't regret it one bit, but each to their own . It's your van, you make decisions that would best suit your needs. Any questions i'd be happy to help. I like to think I've managed to learn something over the 6 months of shouting and swearing. 😂
I've watched loads of these van conversions..your is the most entertaining..and the most informative so far, I did not understand those sound deadening pads, thought the insulation would do it...Now I see (hear) the difference...thank you Will.
As I was on a low budget I used odorless flashband dubble bubble dubble foil then 50mm & 6mm celotex I have lived in my van now for 6 years & I have to say it works fantastic I been in -5 in winter nice & warm & really cool in summer your doing a quality job 👌 & i can see your OCD shining through Will😂 just like me 😊
Put as many windows in as you possibly can, is my advice. You want maximum visibility driving but also when parked up. Imagine being in the most beautiful scenery but it's raining and you can't enjoy the view. You can always make removable reflectix blind for windows for privacy and insulation. Check out a Canadian UA-camr called Eric Enjoys Earth for some tips he's got sound advice, having done van life for many years. Love your videos mate, it's coming along great!
Hi Will! When using your knife only have a small bit of blade retracted! It's all you need and gives you more control and more importantly its much safer and your less likely to lose a finger! Keep up the good work!
The support beams can be spray foamed with a low expanding foam (window and door frame foam). Alsp a product from the USA Bedrug, and you can do the flooring of the van.
This advice may be a bit late pal but the trick with the aluminium foil is to not cut it but tear it and leave the end with a longer piece of backing layer so it's easier to separate. Also turn your van internal lights off or you'll kil your battery very quickly. I remember all of your struggles and I'm glad it's not just me. I learned over time as will you. Well done.
Very nice job on your sound deading, I have a normal hatchback ix20 Hyundai and did all the floor and the boot floor and all the doors and the plastic trim of the doors and hatch door as well and the bonnet but the only job left to do is the roof and the wheel arch’s on the outside but can only do the job on a dry day as I don’t have a garage or car port
Its 8:44. good evening was waiting for the video, finally .. . . . Thank you for uploading have a great weekend and stay safe will .if you are planning to have view from back than you can have windows overall depends on your design and how you are planning to use the back of your van.and a tip use dry ice to remove old or new insulation it comes of easily.
Well done! Love all the content you put out. Don't stress yourself out mate, just take it one step at a time and it'll be done in no time. It's gonna be GREAT once you upload your first stealth camp with that beast. Keep up the great work!
Put in windows on the back doors Will. Lying in bed watching the sunset or sunrise, or just watching the world go by, never gets old. I would also suggest that both side windows have slide openers so that you get a nice through draught on hot evenings when you're tucked up inside. One slider does f*** all..
Hi Will, another top video,it's definitely more quiet than before,a boring job to do but the results are worth it.the back doors, leave them as they are and just sound pad them.
Waiting for your new E-book bro: "How to teach yourself more about yourself: Buy a van and convert it yourself without any prior experience". 😁. Will, you asked a while ago, what we liked about your videos: I love your honesty and enthusiasm and ability to bring a smile to my face even on the dullest of days.
Lil tip .. fold a small (5mm ish) corner of the aluminium tape over (shiney to shiney) then you can easily use your thumb to peel the white backing off to get you started =)
Haha that foil tape stuff frustrated me for ages while doing my convertion! Eventually figured I out tho. So peal a little bit of the paper side of the end while it's still on the roll, then when you need a length pull out as much as you need peal the white back but DONT RIP it off just rip the foil. Let me know how you get on. 😁
Dude I'm up to this vid so far and I'm f*cking loving it, laughing out loud whilst learning some valuable stuff, love it. I'm searching for my van to convert now (live in the UK 5-6 grand if anyone's got anything for me ;) ) And your videos will be my Bible. Big ups
Wherever you decide to install your windows be sure to get top hinged (not sliding windows) so that you can have ventilation when it is raining. I have a T6 with sliding windows and it is a real issue when it is raining because it comes into the van.
You're such a tease Will. I know you've progressed quite a bit going from your IG account, so seeing you only now putting the sound deadening mats on is a big tease!! 😂🤣 It's looking good Mate and you're a champion for getting on with it and learning as you go.
Did A great job you can really tell a difference. I think the funniest part is when you yelled at that other car for not having their indicator on cracked me up🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice mention of Ladi and Margaret, was going to suggest them to you Will. been watching them too. Also take a look at Dares Drives, doing a 4x4 Mercedes van conversion, awesome guy, learning as he goes as well and shows a lot, been at it for over a year and making good progress.
These videos are brill and funny , given me the confidence to do my own build ,what would be helpful is how much of each material you used I.e how many boxes of dodo sound proofing you used I know different amounts depends on van sizes but your van would give a rough indication ( mines a lab transit ) can't wait to see your finished van 👍
windows with screens in them for sure so you can open them up to get some ventilation going on when the doors aren't open. I also think the back windows would look cool if they were the Amarine-made Boat Yacht Elliptical Oval Opening Portlight Porthole just a thought.. keep up the good work
Progressing along nicely will! With those stupid silicon tubes, I find its best to remove the plasic nozzle after use, clean it out ASAP then put a plastic bag or tape over the top of the tube and gently screw the nozzle back on to keep it air tight. Looking forward to next weeks episode :)
You should add a air vent for cooking and pulling air from your van to cut down on moisture build up. You should also add windows to both the back and side if you can. Will let more light in and make it feel more open
Good job! Will. It’s amazing how that thing works to eliminate the echo inside your van! thanks for sharing and illustrate how to use those materials very informative! Watching you from the West. you’ve got a helper is that your brod you did not introduce to us. 😊
will i think you should, get a brand deal going with berghaus. i don't think there is very few without that jacket on show haha! great vid keep up the good work
Brilliant series so far, I've done 4 conversions on my channel over the last 3 Years, but still great to learn a bit more from watching stuff like this, I've subbed now as I can't wait to see how this big girl comes along over the weeks. ;)
Ladi and Margaret are a great source for inspiration but he is a perfectionist (his homemade E Bikes are insane) Make sure any windows you put in are tinted to keep yr stealth.. The thing that might freak you out with not being able to see outside, is when you hear movement or other vehicles next to you 😆 you always think that you are the reason for them being there when in fact they have no interest in you at all 🤪 Loving the Van build series mate 🤙🏼🚐💨❤️
Another great video I'm taking notes and costing stuff for my van, you should of downloaded a decibel app to see how loud it was before amd after keep up the good work 💪

Hi
I am agog to learnalong a you
The van build is great to follow along step by step!
Every new journey starts with steps like this...
Love how you are taking your time and doing it right !!! Excited to see the progress! Thanks for taking us along for the ride !🤙🏾

No problem glad your enjoying them

The "Doggin' Toboggan" is coming along nicely.
If i was the one converting that van i would have given up by now.Hats off to your patience and hardwork mate🙏.Keep going👍

Thanks very much mate appreciate it
I have found myself asking “is it Sunday yet? I need to see an update on Wills van build!” I like your vids a lot!
Your van is slowly taking shape. It is looking good already. Keep going Will.
Thanks very much it’s getting there
there are people who do not use any sound deadening, some who use a few pieces here and there, and there is Will.
Every time I watch your video I let the advertisement finish 👍🏼
Namesta
Cant imagine the amount of dogging this van could handle :-)
Two doors, could have a one way system of people in and out 🤣🤣🤣
@@BulldogBadger Human centipede!
@@BulldogBadger One way system? Just like a covid friendly pub, but for the "Doggin' Toboggan" you would need wipes and sanitiser on the way out too.
😂😂 I’ll be upgrading the suspension

Awesome...Thank you for the video. Heads up, the guns usually have a wire that can flip out for poking into the end of the cartridges.
Thank you so much for doing before and after. I havnt seen anyone do that so far. And thank you for explained how much you need to cover
Hi Will! When using your knife only have a small bit of blade retracted! It's all you need and gives you more control and more importantly its much safer and your less likely to lose a finger! Keep up the good work!
It wasn't boring at all!! That's amazing how much difference it makes! Congrats! 👍👍
Thanks Martine
Love this as a build thread, especially how honest it all is. Great content
The support beams can be spray foamed with a low expanding foam (window and door frame foam).
Alsp a product from the USA Bedrug, and you can do the flooring of the van.
Thanks for the info I’ll look into it
Enjoying the series, surprising how transformative the sound deadening is for the look as well
That accent, makes it even more enjoyable 🥰👍

Put in the back window... You can have sun come in and give you more light during the day. Also you could wake up to some beautiful sunrises.
A very good point
Also good for viewing when he goes dogging. Otherwise the people wanking outside won't be able to look in.
Just used this video to source my sound deadening from amazon, thanks Will!
Great updates Will. Keep going mate....it will all be worth it when your on the road with the finished van.
