    Are you a related person?? No one had a camera. After reading the review, I understand why delivery was delayed. The features they mentioned aren't quite ready. Even the slow autofocus of cameras from 10 years ago is not yet ready, coming soon?? It's like a review that appeases bad public opinion by saying, "Just wait because it's real." (But it's not as good as they said.) And people don't know because they always delete bad comments.

    What are the benefits over using a dedicated camera?
    You say that this camera in the hands of a good photographer will yield better results than the Leica Q3. How? What does this camera bring to the table that the Q3 doesn't?

    • @allthegearnoidea69
      @allthegearnoidea69  2 місяці тому

      So the comparison I made is that if someone knows what they’re doing, they’ll get equal or better results from this, than an amateur like me would get from a Q3.

    • @bskbo01
      @bskbo01 2 місяці тому +5

      @@allthegearnoidea69 Sure, but the same applies to this camera vs a smart phone; someone that knows what they're doing will get equal or better results from their smart phone than an amateur will get out of the Alice camera.
      I really like the concept of this camera. But modern mirrorless camera's are already able to be constantly connected to your phone, so that you have a lower resolution image directly on your phone to share online. What does this camera do better?

    I am for the idea of the Alice Camera, but at it's current price point it really is not worth it.
    Comparing it to my Canon M50 (Or the newer Canon R50) which both can be found new for the same price or cheaper, without a wait-list, the choice is simple. (Going on the new price of the Alice, and not the "sale" price). I don't know if I can live-stream from my M50 via my phone since I only use it for photography, but since the Alice does not (yet) have auto focus, you're better off using your phone anyways.
    As for the vlogging bit, it does seem inconvenient to have your phone (read display) at a different position from the camera itself.
    I won't say if it is problematic or not, as again, I don't do this and have no experience with it.
    I would also like to see a built in flash on the Alice, I am assuming it now uses the flash on your phone, which is not even remotely comparable to even a built in flash on a DSLR or Mirrorless.
    Another downside I see is that you now have to make sure both the camera and your phone is charged. Most people keep their phone charged overnight anyways, but many have low battery at the end of the day. If you want to go out and use the camera after school or work, you might run into the problem of waiting for a device to charge. This is a minor problem though, and I'm not going to hold it against the Alice, just something to keep in mind.
    The Canon cameras also connect to your phone over WiFi and provide, from what I can tell from your review, the same features.
    If the Alice was at 300 USD and not 950 USD, with a built in flash and with a better, more fleshed out software, hell yes.
    A decent body where you essentially only pay for a camera sensor using your phone for all the processing is brilliant for someone that want a cheap entry into photography, when done well.
    I would like to the the Alice, side by side with a camera at the same price with a equal lens to properly understand what the camera is capable of when it comes to photography.

      @charliegolf2730 2 місяці тому

      @@allthegearnoidea69 With the price of the Alice camera (off sale) being listed at $1295 on their website, I'm leaning towards two options at the same pricepoint:
      Canon EOS R10 Mirrorless Camera with 18-45mm Lens Content Creator Kit - $1299 (Includes lens and microphone - camera with lens on it's own is cheaper)
      Sony a6400 Mirrorless Camera with 55-210mm Lens Kit - $1196
      (Prices gathered from B&H photo)
      I come from a photography viewpoint, so that's what I'm most interrested in, but would be nice to see how they go up against eachother in video as well.

    Honestly i loved the idea but seeing the actual product i'm quite disappointed. The reason most people in general use their phones to take photos is the convenience of having it in their pocket. This , once equipped is bigger than some actual mirrorless cameras. Because the image is transmitted over wifi and not cable, there is a noticeable delay , which is not great. I would have loved a much smaller "sensor only" type of system that can be easily pocketed but in the current format you have no reason to pay for that. It's not small enough to carry everywhere, it's not even using the phone's superior computing capabilities which for me would've been to be able to edit the raw right there on the phone in a fast way or at least have some way to make heavy edits or profiles directly on camera. This is just a camera without a screen which is stupid.
    Also your video reeks of sponsored content and is really the best anti-ad i've ever seen. Now i know i'd never buy that thing.
