SMART-L is in the L-band. SPY is in the S-band. Also all SPY including older SPY-1 have BMD capability, while SMART-L don't. They have to be upgraded for BMD, so not all SMART-L have BMD capability. To add newer SPY-6 have multiple arrays/RMA where each RMA can independently do its own thing from high to low elevation volumetric search, ballistic missile discrimination, missile communication, and even EW. The only comparable radar to have a similar feature is UK's dual face/array S-band Sampson radar. Besides that SPY-6 is also a dual band radar integrating an X-band radar thru its radar suite controller RSC similar to the Chinese dual band S/C Type 346A/B radar.

That weapons control room is incredible. Thank you for sharing.
Hello All! Good morning!
morning :)
Good morning America 😊
So powerful!!!Just fall in love with the bow design of this class!
china is loving these vids lol
China doesn't care about those old destroyers; the 055-ton destroyer is much more powerful.
Because of what? They don’t need anything from this.
Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life.
This is cool sam. Btw I'm first 😊
Dude, your sponsored section is something I would search and watch willingly out of curiosity
Is that a Nigerian flag at 0:12 someone please explain the flags
I don't know man ask Nigerians
starboard flag
It’s a communication flag. All ships use them
Just callsigns and or forms of communications
New subscriber here. Great Video! Thank you to all the men and women who serve our country.
Thanks for the sub!
12:00 our sensors are the best of the world... Until you've met the Dutch😂 or SMART-L was 6 years in advance acc you guys back in 2006. We've the ER version of it right now. Maybe we are still the best😂
@@johnsilver9338 the Dutch radar has bmd capabilities, uses multiple frequencies and can track multiple targets while guiding missiles towards targets. So i dont see it being inferior towards an spy 6 radar
@@jouniairplanevideosI wouldn’t say it’s inferior but they have pretty much the same capabilities at this point
Lets be real though Dutch cant do nothing
My dad served on a cruiser class ship back in the 1980s with the same name. That ship was decommissioned in 1994. But still interesting. I served in an air wing on board the USS Carl Vinson( CVN 70) I remember 12 hour work days every day minus port calls. It as long days but the water rocking you to sleep and it was nice. US Navy where you need a GED or diploma to drive a Multi Million/Billion dollar ship. Took my boys to see the USS Midway, since their dad was Army and saw what their toys, I took them to see what my dad and I served on ( not so much dad since he refused to be on “ Bird Farm”). They were in awe and shocked at how big the anchor chain was. I was and still very proud to be a Sailor, even though I am not longer in now.
Where f-15?
This was awesome Sam. Thanks as always for taking us along
Best video yet Sam keep it up!
Wow! I miss some of the crew of USS Sterett when they visited our orphanage in the Philippines after the Mt. Pinatubo explosion in 1991 😊
Def was not expecting the raytheon plug as a spy-6 tech myself lol
Thank you for your service crew!!!
