I played against Hurd in high school back in 2013. That dude really opened my eyes to what the difference was between a regular high school player and a D1 athlete. I played WR and safety and I was pretty quick. But on his first break away run it was a 40+ yard TD and made me look like I was running backwards. On his next run we ran a safety blitz and he stiff armed me into next week.

You hit the nail on the head. Had he moved to wide out earlier and didn't take all those abusive reps, he could have probably went 10 seasons with the right coaches.

  • @Riggsluvslegs

As a 9er fan, It sucked watching him get injured every season, because you saw the potential that was definitely there. Not to mention he was a complete professional his whole time with us.

This man deserves a million subscribers we have to get him there man

My brother was his highschool TE. Their coach was conceded and didn't care for his players. He really was limping around after games. They blew out most teams and they could have won if he ran only 5 times each of those games.

Saw him in high school. Hurd was a MONSTER in HS at tailback. He only did what Golden Tate did. Tate was an ELITE tailback in high school and then switched to WR at ND and in the league,

Great storytelling FlemLo. Hurd's story will surely have an impact on the next generation of top tier football players.

  • @HistoryWithCoachT

Jalen Hurd carried that Tennessee Team on his back his freshman year. He was so tough man. They gave him way to many carries too

Niner fan who was SO HYPE to see Hurd and Deebo revolutionize football. Hurd had more talent than Samuel, but broke down before we saw dual wideback sets light up the league.

It's crazy, because the "scouts" of talent can literally tell players who are dynamic like Lamar Jackson to change positions. But Lord forbid a player sees the writing on the wall, and decides to change his position. Then all hell breaks out.

I went to the same high school as Jalen Hurd and got to watch him play back then. Hurd was an absolute beast and you immediately knew who he was when he stepped on the field. He helped carry the team to a state championship, but the coaches ran him into the ground. It's often forgotten but Jalen went both ways a good amount, so he would play safety on defense and then immediately go right back out there and be the RB on offense. Regardless of how good our QBs and WRs were, our high school coaches ran the ball about 90% of the time with the same few runs plays almost every time. They did it before Jalen and still do it now and it's led to a lot of RBs getting injured through overuse and getting banged up every week.

It's such a bummer that Jalen was too injured by the time he got to the 49ers if he was healthy in that system with Deebo that would have been such a nightmare for defenses and so much fun to watch

  • @Toastiiproductions

I went to a camp with Jalen freshman year. He was always a stud, real tennessee legend.

  • @travisknott932

As a Tennessee fan it seemed to me at the time that he quit on the team. I was pissed but when I let go of my bias I realized he did what was best for him and I really wanted him to succeed injuries derailed that it’s a shame smh

  • @Aloharayray808

Off topic but it’s upsetting to see this man not at 1M

  • @marcushardy6216

Yea,I've heard about Jalen hurd he's reasoning for switch positions was caused of so many injuries in game and Many running backs position are sometimes strainful due to injuries and playing time that an athlete suffers from while in their primeful playing career.

  • @jamaalthecashier

I’m a Tennessee fan & I’ll always wish him the best. He was a great talent & I appreciated him for what he did for us. Jalen was NICE!! Wish him peace.
