I’m an autobody tech and do my own finishing. Looking for a new buffer for post paint job finishing. I work with old schoolers and have always used rotary style 7” dewalts and Makitas. I’ve never used a random orbital buffer so I’m not sure that would work for my needs. I take nibs and orange peel out with 1500 up to 5000 trízak with my d/a and then use the 7” buffer. Have you by any chance used the durabrade RB3? If so what do you think of it? Is there any other rotary’s you’d recommend that aren’t pushing $350 like the Rupes? I just bought a Rupes skorpio 3 d/a and like it but I’m not sure I can justify $350+ for a rotary when I know the $200-$250 dewalts and makitas work good and last. I just want to try something new that may be lighter and more ergonomic then those.
Hey mate, As always a great video. To be honest with you, today was a disappointing day for me. After 2 years of detailing, i finally managed to get myself a mark 3 by the hopes to use it this weekend. Unfortunately my brand new rupes has a malfunction and the speed dial doesnt work. It start on speed 6 and i can dial it down. It is very disappointing for a company like rupes not to test their product before sending it to the market. Anyhow, enjoyed your show. I hope you can convey this message to your mates at rupes. Cheers
Have you tried contacting Rupes? They have good customer service and stand behind their products. What you experienced is quite unusual for such a high end machine. Also, did you reach out to the place where you bought it? There are warranties on these things.
@@PanTheOrganizer hey mate, I went to the store first thing today and they replaced my machine. The fellow at the rupes section was quite cooperative. He actually made mention of you and your videos lool. Quite random, but i got a question for you. What's the difference between LHR15 Mark 3 and LHR15ES?
Looks great. Always awesome videos . I am currently using a milwaukee m18 d a. I have never used a rupes. Wood this give me a significant better machine than my M18 Milwaukee. More power and better cut.
Not really. Milwaukee is already pretty good. I made a video talking about my Milwaukee cordless polisher here: ua-cam.com/video/oiMMEOdXAbE/v-deo.htmlsi=iel_-xbIZTq5ihEy Where higher end polishers like Rupes are better is in the use: ergonomics, less vibration, smoother operation, etc.
Hi Pan, hope you are well. You’ve now had to test out many polishers, including the Rupes line, as well as “value” polishers like the MaxShine ShineMaster M15 PRO, and others, and the main thing I notice is the “value” polishers and others like the Griots G9, and my Porter Cable and Adams Swirl killer operate with a lot of vibration. As I have not had a Rupes, how does it operate wrt vibration? It seems the Rupes primary advantage is low vibration. Thanks.
Rupes makes some of the smoothest polishers on the market, hands down. Of course, no polisher is 100% vibration free as the nature of a polisher is creating vibrations through the random orbits at very high speeds. But Rupes is as good as it gets. You can also wear anti vibration gloves while polishing.
This will be your first and last polisher for sure. That's how good the Rupes polishers are. If you're starting in the polishing world, make sure to check out my beginner's tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/X2qjO5xZZ2E/v-deo.html
Thanks for the reply Pan! I have watched that video and it is brilliant! I will watch it again and again to embed your methods into my head so I can learn from the best! Regards Joe
Another great video, Pan for my first polisher which of the Rupes do you recommend? This one or the Big foot 21? I can not tell the difference or usage for the two models. Thanks for your kind response
I would get the LHR15. The LHR21 is essentially the same machine but with a bigger throw (21 mm instead of 15 mm) so we use 21 mm mainly for larger flat lanels like a big truck’s flat hood. The 15 mm stroke is a more versatile tool.
@@PanTheOrganizer thanks so much for all you do to teach us, I just converted our garage into a beautiful detail garage to do my car as a hobby. Waiting on Black Friday hoping there is a Rupes sale, lol. Again, thank you so much!
Pan I know this doesn’t pertain to this video but I need to know what you use to strip your wax and sealant after the winter so that I can check my pain and see what I have to do before I put a new coat of wax
In my opinion, you really can't compare a Meguiar's polisher to a Rupes LHR15MK III. The Rupes polishers and Flex polishers are at the top of the polishers build quality. You'd need to compare the Meguiar's more to things like Maxshine, Griot's Garage, Adam's, etc.
Oooo very nice 👌🏼 I use the griots boss! Quick question tho pan! You've probably said it in some videos but which is a good soap for a maintenance wash I can use? I've decontaminated the paint and used adams.buttery wax and bead maker for sealant. What's my best bet for a maintenance wash? Thanks pan. 🙏🏼
Thank You Pan for the video great info for a do it at home detailer. Can you tell me if it's better to use their pads or can one use another brand, and will it work the same for the paint correction?
This is a tool more for experienced enthusiasts and professionals. For beginners, watch this video that I made: ua-cam.com/video/DOMbdkroUqA/v-deo.html
Thanks Pan I love watching your videos. I currently have a flex 3401. I love it. I’ve been contemplating on buying a long throw polisher. I was actually reading up on the mark 2 15 mm, then I found out that the mark 3 was coming out soon. I have two questions.I heard you say that bead maker was a game changer.
Hey pan i was trying to wait and get this polisher but mine burnt out. I went with the max shine m15 pro. In your opinion should i change the backing plate and should i do the washer mod on it? Thanks in advance and great videos👍
If you get the MaxShine then yes do the washer mod (they usually include one in the kit). But I don't do washer mods for high end polishers like my Rupes or Flex.
Hey just a thought would be nice to know why these are the best DA polisher. The geometry and cycle and speed of the orbital movement. Which why @rupespolisher are the best and why they are the FERRARI.. awsome this tool . Lol🦾💪🦾🤔🤔🤔⚒️🦾⚒️🦾🦾🥱🥱🥱🥱
I know you mentioned 1st quarter availability, but that's a good size time period. From your conversations with Rupes, did you get a feel for which month the release will be ? Really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these.

Hi Pan. Thanks for the video on the new Rupes LHR15 Mark lll. I just so happened to have upgraded from my Meguiars MT300 to the new Rupes LHR15 Mark lll a few weeks ago. I haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet but was wondering if you had any tips operating the Rupes line of polishers vs previous brands you have used. I plan to use with the Rupes yellow and white foam pads. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
hi Pan ! awesome video by the way ! quick question. i just purchased my rupes LHR15 mark 3 polisher, but i did not get any compound and polishing pads. i was wondering what will will be THE BEST compound and polishing pans to go with the Rupes mark 3? In addition, I have watched your 2019 car detail award video and you said the Sonax perfect finishes is the best polish you have experience and the maguires compound was the best you have had experience it. so, what will be THE BEST pan to go along with the mark 3 ?
I would get Meguiar's DA Microfiber cutting discs for the compound: amzn.to/2UjioXA And Rupes Yellow foam pad for Sonax Perfect Finish polish: amzn.to/3eUz5Au
Pan TheOrganizer I have not owned any polisher before but I have been thinking about it for a while so thought I might start with the best. Thanks for the good review
Great stuff Pan! Could you give your thoughts on the gear driven DA polishers that sit between free spinning DA polisher and rotary polisher specifically the Rupes Bigfoot Mille. Love the channel, product reviews and educational instruction on Detailing..
I have a Flex 3401 gear driven (also called direct drive) polisher and I absolutely love it. The advantage of gear driven is that the pad never stalls regardless of how much downforce you apply.
I picked up a Flex XCE 8-125 cordless was planning on the XFE model (free spinning) but was out of stock so opted for the gear driven derivative referred to as the beast by some and was a bit off putting thought it be for pros only’
Just discovered your channel.Been an OCD detailer( own cars) since 1986 and used PC 7424, Cyclo, and Flex 3401.Used more products that I can remember. Had a shoulder replacement 8 months ago and now it is healing and want to get back into my own detailing again. Sold my Flex 3401 and am looking at the Rupes. The Flex was too heavy and too much vibration for me. Is the Rupes a lighter and less vibration type buffer compared to the Flex? Should I look at the 15 or 21? Thanks for your time.
Hi John! Thanks for sharing your experience. I also have the Flex 3401 and I absolutely love it, as it's a beast! The pad never stalls as it's a direct drive motor. The Rupes LHR15 MKIII (or MKII as I have) is a dual action polisher, so if you apply too much force, the pad will stall, so just keep that in mind. You have to let the machine do the work. But yes it's lighter than then Flex, and is also way smoother to operate. Rupes are super well balanced machines with super low vibration. I would get the LHR15 as it's more versatile. The 21 is more for large flat surface, to get more throw and correct quicker.
@@PanTheOrganizer hi can you clarify im very interested in buying the best for my money . you told Mr John Caban that you "would look at the LHR15 as its more versatile" did you mean its the mar III ? leaving the last part out means literally older version polisher did you mean mark III????
Hey Pan the man , dude that is a polisher that should be on my future list. by the way at the local store where I buy my auto detailing products I will participate in a raffle where one of the products that are going to be given is a rupees mark ll polisher. I hope to be the chosen one. 😁. Good day pan
Hey Pan what do you think if the LHR 15ES. I seen that its 100 less and may be better for beginners? Or would it be worth it to just spend the extra money for this one?
I never tried the 15ES, but any Rupes polisher is good. If it fits your budget, go for it. But for the small difference in price, I would go straight for the LHR15 MKIII as it's more future proof and will grow with you as you get better at paint correction.
Are some of them retroffitable? I´d like to have a foam near the dial, every time I have to rest the machine on its back I have to use a towel to avoid scratching it.
Sorry my son pushed the send button. I heard you talk about bead maker as a game changer. What polisher do you consider as a must have game changer?(or polishers) As far as the mark 3 what will be the difference in the 21 mm and the 15mm besides size of the throw for that Detailer that wants to do and get the best results? My go to compound Griot’s fast acting. My go to sealant Wolfgang gloss sealant followed by pinnacle souveran paste wax and now the bead maker simply because I love your videos and it was a game changer to you so I ordered it but haven’t used it yet. Thanks again for your videos!!!!!!!
Thanks for the feedback Pj! Watch my full Rupes video here: ua-cam.com/video/U1ZD0L3RCa4/v-deo.html They do make some of the best polishers in the world. I also love my Flex 3401 polisher. But all those are costly. If you have the budget, go for it. If you want a good alternative under 200$, watch my MaxShine polisher video: ua-cam.com/video/L1UlEoYV_Jo/v-deo.html
Thanks Pan, great stuff as always! I gotta say, Dylan looks more like a bouncer at a biker bar than marketing manager for the best polisher manufacturer on the planet.. 😁
I have a 15mm da the plate doesn’t free spin the bearing is a bit stiff the tool is new will the bearing ware in or should I use some silicone spray on the bearing
So the purple power auto and boat wash will strip wax and sealants and then clay bar correct can I use Maguires quick detailer with the clay bar and then when I’m finished use a correction pad and compound then polish then IPA and then wax and then bead maker
Hi Pan. I noticed this video is over a year old now. Was curious how the Mark 3 is holding up for you after a year? I did noticed a few times on the Mark 2 (ex. 3:04) that you can see small gap between the head unit and body on the left side. Was wondering if you discovered any quality issues in this last year of use of the Mark 3. I’m on the cusp of getting either a LHR15 Mark 3 or the Griots G15.
Hi Pan, can you give me the model # for the rupes 3" backing plate. I just place an order for the Rupes LHR 15 Mark III. I am so happy to stumble on to your channel. After watching your videos the Last 2 weeks. I bought all the necessary equipment and chemicals to do a full detail for my cars. Thank you for all the great tips and products reviews.
I talk about my three different Rupes polishers in this video: ua-cam.com/video/U1ZD0L3RCa4/v-deo.html You’ll find links in the description under the video.
Pan, I am debating on getting either the Rupes LHR15 or the FLEX 3401. Which one would you get it? By the way man, I am your fan. Have learned a lot from you.
It depends on what you want. Those are two completely different polishers. The LHR15 is a dual action polisher, random orbit. The Flex 3401 is a direct drive polisher (forced rotation). If you want pure power and never want the pad to stall, you go with the 3401. If you want finesse and a well balanced machine and a longer throw (15mm vs the Flex that is 8mm) you go with the LHR15.
Pan, you're saying that your original is the mark 2 but it has a carbon fiber grip. The lhr15 has the carbon fiber grip. The mark 2 and 3 dont have the carbon fiber. Did you switch the grip?
My Rupes polisher is a Mark II. Look at it when I'm holding it vertically, you can clearly see the badge LHR15II. Mine came directly like this from Rupes USA. I didn't switch anything.
@@PanTheOrganizer I want a rupes but I'm going it for the mark 1 because of the carbon fiber. I dont think they sell them with the carbon fiber anymore. Or i might buy the grip separate and switch them out. I gotta call rupes. Thanks for the reply
Older video I know - having a lot of trouble finding a Rupes LHR15 Mark III in Canada from an Authorized dealer - and no one seems to have the Rupes "kits" unless you get the 21 which I don't want.. Pan can you reach out to Rupes ?? Also - too bad they don't make a kit of the 15 and Nanon or all three in a kit.. 15, mini and nano -
I know this is a random question and has nothing to do with this video. But since Auto Fanatic has released his foam wheel cleaner, can you do a review of it??? Please? And thank you!
No I kept my MKII as the upgrades weren’t performance related. And I prefer a 15mm throw as it’s more versatile. 21mm is mainly for large flat surfaces.
But surface correction covered is a lot faster on the 21 with same physical efforts(time saving) used and you can contour the position for curved areas such as doors and fenders.......It seems like pro detailers prefer the 21......and most enthusiast like the 15.......and I’m sure some have both or a mini instead of a 15 .......but if you have always had a 15 ....I guess that’s best to stick to the tool you know and are comfortable with.......
Absolutely! And I still use both on pretty much every detail. It just gets impossible to film absolutely everything as I am a one man show. Detailing alone requires so much time and energy, imagine filming on top of that. Plus in two languages! :)
Pan TheOrganizer Lol, Scott from Dallas Paint Corrections isn’t their biggest fan, huh? Heheh. Pad stalling is an issue? The 3401 is a beast! As Mike Phillips calls it! Thanks for clarifying. 😎
Yes a novice can use this as it’s dual action so no it will not burn through paint. Rotary polishers burn through paint if not in expert hands hence why dual action is the way to go for 99% of people
hi pan, great video, i'm new to your channel here, i'm concidering getting a mk2 or mk3, i wonder if anyone can tell me if a smaller 3 inch head can be attached to eirther machine? i know you can on some da polishers
Yes Rupes always tweaks their tools and keep improving them. Kind of like what Porsche does to their classic 911. You can tell it's a car that looks similar to a version from the 60's, but so many tweaks and performance enhancements over the decades brought it to where it is today.

Have you tried contacting Rupes? They have good customer service and stand behind their products. What you experienced is quite unusual for such a high end machine. Also, did you reach out to the place where you bought it? There are warranties on these things.
@@PanTheOrganizer hey mate,
I went to the store first thing today and they replaced my machine.
I made a video talking about my Milwaukee cordless polisher here: ua-cam.com/video/oiMMEOdXAbE/v-deo.htmlsi=iel_-xbIZTq5ihEy
Where higher end polishers like Rupes are better is in the use: ergonomics, less vibration, smoother operation, etc.
@PanTheOrganizer great, thanks, and keep up great videos
Great and thorough review. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Does this work well for final sanding and polish? Better than high speed buffer?
Great videos. Thumbs up
Do you recommend a 15 throw or a 21 throw. I’m doing just my personal vehicles. Standard size trucks and cars mostly
Go for the 15. More versatile.
@@PanTheOrganizer Great thanks !! Most forums and detailers say the same. But good to hear it from you as well
Hi Pan, hope you are well.
I just bought the LH19E rotary....AMAZING!! I may be looking into this one too!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info Pan! I will definitely be buying the new mark III in January for my birthday as I don't yet have one to play with
This will be your first and last polisher for sure.
Regards Joe
Pan have you noticed the new 5” Yellow Rupes pad are just shy of 5” not fitting properly on the backplate of 5” Rupes backing plate?
Purple Power Vehicle and Boat Wash (pH 11) as stripping soap and machine polishing steps make sure that any previous waxes or sealants get removed.
I saw your review and bought 1 and the speed control keep moving freely while polishing is that how it works
No. The speed control should not move while polishing. You should contact Rupes.
Keep up the great work! I’m currently own the Meguiar’s MT300 how much of a difference is this compared to the mark 3?
In my opinion, you really can't compare a Meguiar's polisher to a Rupes LHR15MK III. The Rupes polishers and Flex polishers are at the top of the polishers build quality.
You'd need to compare the Meguiar's more to things like Maxshine, Griot's Garage, Adam's, etc.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thanks i appreciate your replay..
I'm going to grab one ASAP!
How are you doing bud!
Thanks pan. 🙏🏼
Adam's Car Shampoo is a very good one. And it can double as a snow foam too. Here: amzn.to/2EdjnBs
Pan TheOrganizer Love you Pan. Thanks 🙏🏼.
Thank You Pan for the video great info for a do it at home detailer. Can you tell me if it's better to use their pads or can one use another brand, and will it work the same for the paint correction?
You’re in luck Roadrey! I made a video about my favourite compounds, polishes and pads here: ua-cam.com/video/2JDvQBs1viM/v-deo.html
Is this a good machine for beginners?? I want to begin with car detailling but cannot choose a good polish machine who I can use for a long time...
This is a tool more for experienced enthusiasts and professionals.

Which models have the forced rotation to prevent stalling vs just the orbital? Or are all the new ones forced rotation?
Rupes Mille is the forced rotation model.
I did a full review of different Rupes polishers here: ua-cam.com/video/U1ZD0L3RCa4/v-deo.html
I know you mentioned 1st quarter availability, but that's a good size time period. From your conversations with Rupes, did you get a feel for which month the release will be ? Really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these.
Only thing they said at SEMA was Q1 of 2019. No official date yet.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thank you for keeping us up to date.
Thanks for your trust and continued support John!
What about the rupes rotary vs the flex pe14 2 150 which one do you think is better?
I don't really use rotary polishers. I'm more of a DA polisher user.
if i had the money i would buy you a new one pan,you deserve one with all the hard work of these videos
Thanks!!
Mr Pan, are there any battery powered polishers you could recommend? I hate cords

Thanks.
Yes you have to watch my Rupes review video where I give tips on how to use the polishers and pads: ua-cam.com/video/U1ZD0L3RCa4/v-deo.html
hi Pan ! awesome video by the way ! quick question. i just purchased my rupes LHR15 mark 3 polisher, but i did not get any compound and polishing pads. i was wondering what will will be THE BEST compound and polishing pans to go with the Rupes mark 3? In addition, I have watched your 2019 car detail award video and you said the Sonax perfect finishes is the best polish you have experience and the maguires compound was the best you have had experience it. so, what will be THE BEST pan to go along with the mark 3 ?
I would get Meguiar's DA Microfiber cutting discs for the compound: amzn.to/2UjioXA
And Rupes Yellow foam pad for Sonax Perfect Finish polish: amzn.to/3eUz5Au
Pan TheOrganizer 6 inch for the rupes yellow correct?
6 inch face (5 inch backing plate). The Rupes foam pads are wider on the face, and taper down to attach to the backing plate.
Pan TheOrganizer can you send me a link
Good video! I need to get myself one of these and give it a bash!
Have you ever owned a Rupes polisher? They are the Ferrari of polishers. Simply well designed, engineered and great performance.
Pan TheOrganizer I have not owned any polisher before but I have been thinking about it for a while so thought I might start with the best. Thanks for the good review
Did you watch my polishing tutorial video? Here: ua-cam.com/video/X2qjO5xZZ2E/v-deo.html
I picked up a Flex XCE 8-125 cordless was planning on the XFE model (free spinning) but was out of stock so opted for the gear driven derivative referred to as the beast by some and was a bit off putting thought it be for pros only’
Pan.. What do you think about Flex polisher in comparison.. Pro&Cons?
The 3401 VRG is a gear driven polisher. You’d have to compare that to the Rupes Mille, not the Rupes LHR15 MKiii...
Did anyone else catch that mark is the same guy that use to do Adam's Polishes polishing videos with the swirl killers?
0750MRam Dylan left Adam’s a couple years ago for Rupes.
Hey Pan the man , dude that is a polisher that should be on my future list. by the way at the local store where I buy my auto detailing products I will participate in a raffle where one of the products that are going to be given is a rupees mark ll polisher. I hope to be the chosen one. 😁. Good day pan
Good luck Roberto!
@@PanTheOrganizer Awesome thanks for answering all my questions, finally getting a grip on all of this. Great information!

I gotta say, Dylan looks more like a bouncer at a biker bar than marketing manager for the best polisher manufacturer on the planet.. 😁
😂😂
Have u ever tested the polishers by Festool they are also very nice and very high quality.
No
I have a 15mm da the plate doesn’t free spin the bearing is a bit stiff the tool is new will the bearing ware in or should I use some silicone spray on the bearing
It doesn’t need to spin freely. Some polishers are made that way. When you start polishing it will spin.
Pan TheOrganizer the plate doesn’t hit the shroud just asking will it eventually free spin as the bearing wares in?
So the purple power auto and boat wash will strip wax and sealants and then clay bar correct can I use Maguires quick detailer with the clay bar and then when I’m finished use a correction pad and compound then polish then IPA and then wax and then bead maker
Yes.

I don't have a Mark III. I have a Mark II. It's still going like new.

Hey pan can this be used for paint correction and polishing?
I'm a true novice/ beginner. My question is, can I use this machine on bumper covers/ plastic.
If they are painted yes. You polish painted surfaces.
Hi pan, do you add a washer behind the backing plate to to make it more free spinning if so do you do the same with the mini LHR75E.
I don’t do the washer mods on my Rupes machines.
Hi Pan, can i use water and car shampoo mixture to act as clay lubricant for the clay step?
Yes. The key thing is to add enough lubrication while claying.
I will test this on my face to see if I like it.
Hello Pan
Do you support doing the washer mod on Rupes lhr15 markII?

Oh you can bet I will! I was testing this for months on the pre-production run and it was already great!
Love the videos!!
Did u upgrade to the Mark III form the Mark II? And why didn’t you go for the 21?!
Am 4/5 years late. How does the mark 3 fare against the shinemate ex620

Why would You choose this over a 3401? Chevy/Ford? Honda/Toyota?
I prefer my 3401 because it’s direct drive (pad never stops spinning). Rupes has their Mille model now to compete with it.
Pan TheOrganizer Lol, Scott from Dallas Paint Corrections isn’t their biggest fan, huh? Heheh. Pad stalling is an issue? The 3401 is a beast! As Mike Phillips calls it! Thanks for clarifying. 😎
@@PanTheOrganizer Do You still feel the same way?
Can a novice use this? Will it burn paint?
Yes a novice can use this as it’s dual action so no it will not burn through paint. Rotary polishers burn through paint if not in expert hands hence why dual action is the way to go for 99% of people

Very nice update to the Mark II. I'm wondering if they'll ever make a cordless version like Flex XFE15-150. If they do, I'd jump on that.
Yes Rupes always tweaks their tools and keep improving them. Kind of like what Porsche does to their classic 911. You can tell it's a car that looks similar to a version from the 60's, but so many tweaks and performance enhancements over the decades brought it to where it is today.
