Its catchy, but definitely corny, but i think most of the hate is cause rappers were mad that women reacted exactly like Mia If there’s one thing dudes hate it’s a guy they dont think is cool that has serious motion with women.
Despite what others have said, Vanilla Ice wasn't a 1 hit wonder. He had 2 songs that charted on the Billboard top 10 and a total of 4 songs charting in the top 100. His second hit that reached #4 was 'Play that Funky Music'' and reaching #81 was 'Cool As Ice (Everybody Get Loose)'. But most would remember his 'Ninja Rap' as the official song for the movie, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2".
The 90's had so many dance hits from MC Hammer - You Can't Touch This, to Young Mc - Bust A Move, or DJ Easy Rock & Rob Base - It Takes Two... The list goes on and on

I believe this is still the #1 selling single of all time. This bumped in every car & clubs for about a year & a half, everyone danced to this, whites, blacks, latinos, Polynesians & so on….
😂 This brings back memories, I was five years old when this came out, he had another song on the Ninja turtles soundtrack(Ninja rap) before his hype eventually melted
I saw him in a venue here where it was snowing like hell outside and we were cooking inside watching him dance! We were dancing, sweating and so they had to actually throw water on us occasionally lol it was great! ✌️🔥
He was 22 or 23 when this song came out in 1990 and he became so instantly famous that he was dating Madonna within a few months of its release. Regarding his dance skills, he’d already been a member of a breakdancing crew for about 10 years at this point.
I was 8 when this came out. And let me tell you EVERYONE was jamming this song. Some in their cars loud AF, on their home stereo systems, or at home when they were home alone so they can jam without being judged 🤣🤣 "to the extreme" was actually a legit rap album. He got a lot of hate cause he was white, but Vanilla Ice is the reason white rappers started coming into the like light. A whole ass decade before Eminem did it. I still jam this song, and have the whole album on Spotify.
V'Ice got roasted by Jim Carrey on 📺 In Living Color for this video, ;butt V'Ice got cooler with time, especially in "That's My Boy!" w: Adam Sandler in his movie! 😎👍
A little background info. Vanilla Ice was recognized at a dance club owned by the performer MC Hammer. In an interview, Hammer originally said he saw potential in his dancing ability. The rapping was a bonus
This reaction just showed up from the algorithm. I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to a song we all enjoyed back then. Your comments about dancing made me think you would enjoy Dwight Yoakam as well. He's technically country but has some rock influences for sure. For a live performance, maybe check out Little Sister from his 1988 Austin City Limits performance. For a production video, the official video for Fast As You is very fun. Both are on his channel.
Love this song! It came out when I was in high school! He was a one hit wonder, although there's another song of his I like. He had a cameo in the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret Of The Ooze & sings a song called Ninja Rap. That movie came out in 1991
Between the ages of 13 and 14, Robert Van Winkle (Vanilla Ice) practiced breakdancing, which led to his friends nicknamed him "Vanilla", as he was the only one in the group who was not black. Although he disliked the nickname, it stuck. Shortly afterward, Van Winkle started battle rapping at parties and because of his rhymes, his friends started calling him "MC Vanilla".
Vanilla Ice Had Black Friends Taught Him How To Dance & Rap On Beat, Prince Ital (Also, On 2Pac's "Hail Mary", Was Killed In A Car Accident) Vanilla Ice Was In The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2:Secret of the Ooze Movie & Did A Song Called "Go Ninja Go Ninja, Go"
“Mia” is melting, but in a good way, great song for sure, also age is but an number for what it’s worth...your reactions are “Fire” per usual...many blessings always...
Crazy that Vanilla Ice is nearly 60 and he still looks like his younger self. Guy made more money after his rapping career in real estate, and other business ventures.
Oh man, this is an oldie but goodie! Would be kinda cool if you would then react to the remix he did of this year's later called "too cold" where he turned it into a Nu metal, or rap metal song, and members of Korn actually wrote the music, and recorded it in the studio with Vanilla Ice.
FYI MIA… Vanilla Ice stole the iconic bass riff from the band Queen’s song: “UNDER PRESSURE” (Vanilla Ice fans usually get mad when this is mentioned, saying that “sampling” is a common practice.) The reason he got in trouble is because Vanilla Ice used the bass line WITHOUT asking permission or giving credit. Queen took Vanilla Ice to court - and WON. They settled out of court, actually. So, RECOMMENDATION… “UNDER PRESSURE” By Queen & David Bowie (The BEST music video is labeled “Classic Queen Mix”) ALSO… The LIVE performance by Queen at: WEMBLEY STADIUM in 1986 (The video that is OVER 5 MINUTES long: It includes Freddie Mercury’s MOST FAMOUS “IMPROV” warm-up with the stadium crowd.)
I have always loved this one. Ice Ice Baby was a Jammy Jam back in the day and if someone said they didn't like it, they lied. It is still a jam. I think he was like 20-22 when this was released "if rhyme was a drug I'd sell it by the gram" is my favorite line. And "Word to ya Mother" was a popular saying for a while. Robert Van Winkle for President. If There Is A Problem, Yo He'll Solve It. Also, check out the song "Boom" by Bloodhound Gang ft Rob Van Winkle (Vanilla Ice) He has the opening verse.
I think that hook bass line was sampled from "Under Pressure" by Queen, which was in 1981. And I never heard this tune all the way through before. So the track is new and not new at the same time for me.
I think you’d enjoy his show “The Vanilla Ice Project” and other shows where he remodels mansions. I also remember him in Adam Sandler’s that’s My Boy with Andy Samberg.
2 Queen songs today ironically. Mia and her white boys 😂 jk. People LOVED this song when it came out. It was everywhere. I had the album. Then they started hating on it when it was cool to.
This song was a mega hit, but the fans started to turn on him when he claimed he was from the hood, but really wasn’t and he starred in his own movie called Cool As Ice in 1991
Yea this is such a catchy song and yea he had the moves. He had his own feature movie, it wasn't very good, but that didn't stop the girls from wanting to watch it LOL
He sampled the beat from Under pressure- Queen ft. David Bowie. He claims it's not the same, but that bull crap. Listen to Under pressure & you'll see.
Big hit back then. He was later found cyrogentically frozen in 1997's 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery'. Hasn't really been heard of much since that time.
I had forgot about the song, but if you want to get funky, react to the song, "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry from back in the 1970s. It was a really fun song. I think you'll love it.
I will never forget when this video dropped in the early 90's. I was 13-14 at the time and me and my mom were watching it and at the same time we both said........"He's WHITE???" Lol 👍👍
Now this was a dope song, that's 90's for you. I got two more for you, Marky Mark (as in Mark Wahlberg) - 'Good vibrations' and Stereo MC's - 'Connected' - not much juice ;) there, but an awesome song.
The bass of this song is originally from Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie from 1981. I think Vanilla Ice was a failed attempt to make Hip-Hop with white rappers, it was not very well seen in the black community, the best rappers until At that time they were black (Public Enemy, N.W.A., Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, etc.) so this was an insult to them, it was only with the intention of selling records, since Hip-Hop in the 1990s was considered underground since hip-hop talked about what black people experienced in the United States: gangs, drugs, violence, death, weapons, racism, etc. This genre was always originally black music. However, we all agree that that barrier was later broken down by Eminem. Still, this song is a classic.
You typed all that just to show you have no clue what the fck you're talking about. What are you 12? EVERY record made is made with the intention of selling records, did you come up with that wisdom all by yourself? And hip hop in the 90's was not underground, it was absolutely mainstream. Yo mtv raps came out in 88, there were more white rappers than vanilla ice and Eminem. What did you copy this nonsense off some Wikipedia page or something? Almost everything you said was wrong
In 1990, the 2 biggest rap singles were "U can't touch this" by MC Hammer (which sampled 'Superfreak' by Rick James) and "Ice ice baby" by Vanilla Ice (which sampled 'Under pressure' by Queen)... Only problem was that Vanilla Ice did not give publishing credit to Queen (and David Bowie), the co-writers on 'Under pressure' and they sued him... Vanilla Ice claimed "it was not the same"... and he lost in court and had to give songwriting credits for the sample he used... and that killed his credibility and career, making Vanilla Ice a one-hit wonder; he did star in his own movie 'Cool as ice'... but it bombed at the box office in 1991. The 90's 'gangsta rap' scene took off by 1992/ '93 and they made 'dancing rappers' like MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice look (and sound) ridiculous overnight and ended their careers.
Yo sweetness! Vanilla Ice also did the iconic theme song from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie! You gotta check it out! Go Ninja, Go Ninja, GO! GO!

This was a massive 1 hit wonder first rap song to reach #1 on the Billboard Top 100
he had another hit though, Ninja Rap
Blondie might have that title. Not sure to be honest - but maybe
To be fair, he's done a LOT of charity work. Since it's Halloween, there's a spoof called "Slice, Slice, Baby". The original song came out in 1990.
“Cold as Ice” and it’s freaking hilarious
I remember being around 12 yrs old when this song came out. It was massive. Hopefully you'll eventually do Snow - Informer. Fun reactions as always.
