you just need to put a solder bridge on two pins. it's easier to do in the obd to usb adapter because the pins you need to bridge (7 and 8) are right next to each other

The stock number with ews on is 7 which translates to binary 00000111 (You don't read the 0's before the 1's so the number is 111) . The "byte 8" which is the first one stands of the ews delete, so he added a 1 there and made the number (in binary) go from 00000111 to 10000111 making it in translation to decimal 135

Great video, helped me a lot. When I read my stock file from a M52B28 the decimal value of byte 8 was 30, giving a binary of 00011110. So in my case I changed binary to 10011110 for EWS delete. This would give a decimal value of 158, so this is what I need to change in my file and reflash? I have seen people talk of cutting or jumping wires on the ews pins but it doesn't seem like thats necessary with your method? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I am in the US and I am putting an engine from a 1997 M3 US spec S52 ODB2 into a 1994 E36 ODB1 car. I have already modified the wiring inside the OBD2 engine harness and even wired in the OBD2 connector inside the car so I can data log easier. With ODB2, the 20 pin cap under the hood has the pins that are bridged already, which allows the OBD2 connector inside the car to communicate with the DME. I have seen others mention about bridging pins 14 and 18 for writing, but isn't that already in the cap?
Most of the time when you have the cap installed , you are not going to be able to communicate with the car , through the diagnostic tool , from the OBD2 port . Bridging the ports is allowing you to read and write the ECU

Hello george ! You going to need instrument cluster from 6 cylinder BMW . If I remember right there were some differences in the ABS modules on the pre-face and facelift ones , so probably you going to need facelift ABS module ( not 100% sure ) . It is still possible that you have some wiring issues , if you are not able to reset he oil service .

I have the 20pin to obd2 with bridged 14-18 pins and the K-line connector I also have Quickflashand RomRaider however when trying to read the ECU it gives me an unable to connect to ECU message. Is the connector bad or is there something with the software wrong.

Hi lukko ! Some E39 have only OBD2 diagnostic port , which is located inside the car . This year should have 20 pin diagnostic socket , but probably they decided to remove it , maybe for theft security .
with ms42 and ms43 you can just go into inpa and sync them. there is an option for that in the main screen. there are many tutorials for that online. the result is the same unless you have done modifications to your car

Full read is when you want the software from the ECU , most of the time people is doing it , when they want to go from MS 41.0 to MS 41.2 , which is US version of the software ( from the US M3 S52B32 engine ) . This unlocks some additional definitions for the ECU , which MS 41.0 software doesn't have . Partial read is for the fuel / ignition / vanos and etc. maps . 99% of the time , you will need only this , to do your tuning of the ECU .

I had similar issue before few months if I remember right . You need to try other software version on your DME + m52b25 partial aka you need full and partial write on your DME with the correct ones .
Davis hello again ! It turns out that the road speed signal is on different pin on your car , so the DME is not seeing that signal . The easiest way to fix the problem is to increase the VSS Error Limiter in Rom Raider to the same amount , that your Hard RPM Limiter is set to .

My number was 30. I switched it to 158, and flashed. Still doesn't start. When I do a quick check with INPA, it has "theft deterent" marked as active. Hey crank, In my case I dont have the x20 female connector at the engine bay. I have an obd2 port (16 pins) going inside the car. I have checked at the k line for the 16 obd2port is pin 7, and the +12 voltage is pin 16. can I bridge pin 7 and 16 in order to enable ECU flash and do all the process through this port? thanks!

You can use it like that . There is no difference btw automatic and manual maps in the ECU

Check ms4x wiki. Ms43 has a great support for ews delete and modificstions.

Read and write the Full Read of your ECU over the other one

You probably have to rewrite the o2 fuel / air map. Idk about deleting o2

Idk why but if i put the Decimal 140 it says Flash complete but when i read Partial it says 12 again...
Simply ADD 128 to the decimal number! :)

I got a m52b20 without ECU so i went to Automobile junkyard and got this ecu from a sedan e36 MS41.0 5WK9 022 1 427 703 i try to start the engine but i didnt have spark the engine was turning without spark! so i whent back to junkyard and buy the ewsll from the same car that i got the ecu , but! i find out that my ecu was from another car so the ews was different ( ewsll WBACB61000AP29194-2D47J) . so anyone can tell me what do to ? do i buy another ecu cause this one has emmo do i open it somehow or do a make a remap with this ews to the ecu i got and make also an new key? thanks a lot .

can someone please help me, i feel so dumb xD the picture on the right says BIT 7 is the first number, which is already 1, when he changes it he says it needs to be 1 on BIT 7 but he changed the fourth number which is BIT 4 isnt it? im obviously missing something thats probably obvious to one of you xD

Hey crank, In my case I dont have the x20 female connector at the engine bay. I have an obd2 port (16 pins) going inside the car. I have checked at the k line for the 16 obd2port is pin 7, and the +12 voltage is pin 16. can I bridge pin 7 and 16 in order to enable ECU flash and do all the process through this port? thanks!
