  • The nights are longer and the weather is more severe. When being on the hill it is imperative you are prepared, especially in the winter. BMRT has put together a couple of short/informative videos, to give you and your rucksack 'winter extras'.

    Good advice that hikers should heed - a bit of hot drink can make a big difference out there. I always carry a thermos in my rucksack and I do two things to keep the drink smoking hot. I prime the thermos with hot water before I fill it up with the "drink of the day" and I also keep it inside an old woollen sock for extra insulation!

      @@buxtonmountainrescue1102 Fortunately I have a mother keen on knitting and that provides me with suitable thick socks for the thermos:)
