So I finished watching Dune Part 2 since it came out on Max and I’m probably going to restart reading the first book as I got halfway through and stopped reading a year or 2 ago. I have the others in the series and I’ve been watching these videos but I’ve known about Leto for years. That being said it really is amazing how much Dune has impacted many of the things I love. Star Wars and 40K are the most obvious but even Gears of War as well. It’s pretty obvious what the Locust religion centering around giant worms is based off of. But even cartoons I grew up on were referencing Dune well before I knew what it was. The one that comes to mind immediately is Billy & Mandy after I saw a few clips on Twitter. It might be a bit of a stretch but I even think Attack On Titan took some inspiration from Dune. I see some parallels between Eren and Paul/Leto, particularly in terms of being the culmination of centuries of planning and being able to see memories of the past. Like I said it’s a bit of a stretch. That being said I’m glad this legendary series is getting love no matter how overdue it may be. I can’t wait for the story to get as crazy and bizarre as Jojo in the future
It was fascinating for them to become the most powerful and proud warriors only to become little more than a mockery of their past selves. Usually writers that make cool things don't sour it byt he dis it almost right away and made the tragedy of it part of the plot.
The Fremen are descendants of Morgan Freman.
