@@darkdimi7928 mmhmm. micro is what wins fights. If the archons attacked, moved, attacked moved so more than the first row was actually fighting, they win EASILY. Likewise, if the mutalisks spread out over the archons, they also win EASILY. The collosus just need to micro up and down cliffs to win more handedly. In the last fight, if they both micro, terran wins the straight up engagement but zerg wins the war. Its hard for any of the races to defeat an army thats slowly weakening yours with fungals, broodlings, infested terran but if you can just straight up fight them with no retreating to recharge another wave, they're defeatable.
As a terran main, that last fight made me feel actual pain. You didn't have to do my bois the siege tanks dirty like that... Love the content though, keep it up :D

@@zygomaticarch if Liberators seiged, this would have been way less close. Zerg already won by air and those liberators killed every single muta in record time after every marine died to banes
I got surprised the most from the liberators, mostly because I had no idea what Liberators even do versus air, I don't recall them ever being used in any pro-games I've seen as an anti-air unit, they're always purely used for their air to ground control. Honestly I never even knew they had splash damage.
@@taragnor yeah, the reason you won't see that come up as much in pro games is probably that pros won't group together and clump up all their air units vs liberators, so it's not used much as a strategy. Pro level army control is usually too good for it to be effective.
Mutas v Archons didn't surprise me all that much because the Archons are ground units (meaning only the front 10 or so are ever gonna be engaged) whereas mutas not only have the ability to hit >1 unit at a time, but also can stack, which means that after a bit the back mutas will catch up and the mutas will hit a critical mass such that they can disable 1+ archons with each attack

most air forces have a distinct advantage against ground forces in these setups because units on the ground form a line where only a few units can fight at a time. where as air forces can all occupy the front line at once. the air numbers simply overwhelm any ground force because of that
I've got an idea for what you could do for the next Brood War fight club. Do some multi race teams of units. For example one team of medics and hydralisks working together against something else.

Well, the Colossus would easily lose with the same circumstances. These videos are made in a way that all things considered (terrain, army size, unit composition etc) will generate a close battle. Maybe do a same setup, but with each different mutation mission? Like one with Raptor lings and one with 1,5x the amount of zerglings (forgot what it was called).
hrm... the terran army had the hellbats and hellions all in the backline and so they did literally nothing and just died. I think it would have been more interesting to place them at the front, same goes with the ultras?
with 2 or 3 vipers that last fight would have been an overwhelming zerg victory, also simply manipulating the formation slightly would have changed everything. If you put the hellbats and marauders in front instead of the marines, overwhelming terran victory.

If Siege Tanks were placed at the very first of the war, the outcome will be very different. SC is a strategy game, the way you arrange your units and how you control them to hit your enemies determine the outcome.
and the corruptor arrived way before the vikings and slaughtered those banshees. the battle cruisers were late as hell, the tanks unsieged an uncountable number of times - and so much more. I think what this teaches us is that more than army size the comp and what attacks whom and is positioned where matters.
I've been watching a lot of casts lately and I can't help but think about how these would probably come out different if top players are microing them XD

Was painful to watch indeed. Would have taken no more than one or two anti-air units to turn the tide at the end.
The vikings just needed to target the broodlord instead of the locust and Terran would have got it i think.

The one that surprised me most was the mutas vs archons. The one that surprised me least was voids vs liberators.

Actually the swarm hosts won the final fight. Their locust distracted the vikings long enough to avoid the death of the last broodlord. Check it out.

There were vipers in zerg army because there were parasitic bombs on the vikings
