Another way to see which Thargoid variant it is, with the scanner but without performing a full scan is to look just below the Thargoid hologram on your HUD. It will have little rectangular dashes just above the hull indicator, indicating the number of hearts. Cyclops 4 hearts - Basilisk 5 hearts - Medusa 6 hearts - Hydra 8 hearts.
Also, when you "join the fight", the NPC's will scan the 'Goids, and the info will get passed on to you, so you don't need a Xeno scanner. That leaves room for the SFN or more heatsinks.
It is worth mentioning that destroyed hearts disappear from the indicator and a portion of interceptor's health bar gets red. So if you encountered something with 4 hearts and partially red health bar, then it is something way more dangerous than a Cyclops.
@@CMDR_CLASSIFIED the video at 11:05 clearly has a progress bar, so he has 'joined the fight'. Right? It also has a holo of an interceptor, stated as a Thargoid Interceptor. If what you are saying is true, why does it not say 'Cyclops Interceptor'. It's right in the video.

I don't think any module reinforcement (guardian or not) helps protecting your modules against overheating. They only protect modules from weapon damage. Not saying you shouldn't have them, but the reason to have them is not for overheating protection.
Wow I´ve been using exactly the same build ever since they released the big stabilizer and farmed easily more than 10B already. Even doing those 2 hydras solo is not a big deal with this beast.
Yes, why does the video say you must use this against Cyclops? Is there something that makes it totally ineffective or dangerous against the others, especially if you have more than one person attacking them?
@@marionetteworks it's a video for beginners, as you get better and you dont need to just spam straight into them to over power their healing, you can instead target the hearts and knock out like 2-3 with each pass. I have always used Gaudian Guasses as 4 shots is usually enough to nuke a single heart and you can reliably get 2 with each pass. Hydras are easier than a Basilisk imo, the added speed of the Baz just makes it a pain to deal with
@@S.ASmith Ok so if you’re already used to aiming at hearts is this better than a gauss build, for the higher-level goids? Someone pointed out that it’s slow, so it’s harder to get away from the swarm and goid if things go wrong.
FYI for people watching this. Apparently there is a limit on experimental modules of 4. You can't use 6. I found out you need the weapon stabilizer FIRST and you need to head to a rescue megaship to get one. There's ship near MBooni in Upsilon Aquarii. The Class 5 Weapon Stabilizer runs 4 million credits and is purchased like any other module or weapon.
I believe it's also only on PC. I've spent the last week going to station to station and rescue ships (except whenever inara tells me a rescue ship is in a system, it's not nowhere to be found) and just can't seem to find it! I am on Play station
I was watching the stream a couple of days ago, that’s why I knew that this was a anaconda build. I don’t think Astro mentioned the ship once in this video..😂
Looking forward to the Where to get PreEngineered modules guide. Haven’t really paid attention to everything that is available so one place to see what you can get and what you need to buy would be great.
It's actually pretty easy, for the normal human or guardian technology you just need to find a nearby a tech broker that you can search for on inara. For modified guardian tech and also the Sirius heatsinks there's only the azimuth biotech base (prospect's deep) in the mbooni system , which is permit locked. You can unlock it by gaining enough reputation with faction 'azimuth biotech', which you can do on the nearby system lhs 1163, where you can take missions for azimuth on their megaship 'glorious prospect'. As soon as you're allied you gain the permit and all you'll need is all materials required for the modules. Mind that the pre engineered guardian weapons need the materials for each individual module that you buy, so if you need 6 of the same module then you need 6times the amounts, unlike the normal guardian stuff that you unlock permanently in unlimited amounts in the chosen module size.
I worked hard to engineer the build up and yes it is working at last! The only problem I have is power outlet since I couldn't engineer level 5 but I will unlock it this weekend! I will be waiting for Basilisk recipe too!
neat trick i just figured out. if you have a route plotted in your regular ship when you go to carrier management it still shows on the map. which makes plotting long paths on the carrier much ewasier
T Tauri hind mine was awesome. glad I went there first before catching the comment abought the other system with the carrier. haven't been in one of those type bases before. well worth the trip
Very impressive! o7 - have followed your Anaconda build, very efficient against Cyclops (but I'm not sure about higher Interceptor variants, however, I don't know). I've got the Mbooni permit very easily (by selling silver, two deliveries of 688-ton of silver to megaship in LHS 1163, to become allied with Azimuth Biotech faction). When permit was granted (just by accepting the mission opportunity, nothing else to do), I was gone to Guardians ruin to farm six weapons blueprint fragments (plus other materials such technology components) required to buy these Class-2 modified shard cannons.
Interesting to see DTEA pop up during these 'active' times. I was blindly about to roll in and comment 'shards' and 'pre-engineered plasma'. While the plasma's can't kill any fresh interceptor before the panic shields pop. But they 'can' kill it right before 2nd heart shield if you're fast enough, have 6 of them with the 30% damage boost. Another thing to note. Hammer gauss (the burst one) is that it's synth values are busted (also it's ammo resupply on death); you can get a x4 on 30% = 120% damage boost on premium ammo. CMDR Mechan sampled this in his Hydra vs Sidewinder video. If my math is correct, that should be able to instakill a Basalisk with ease, and if hitting the right spot.. should 1-shot a Medusa. When I say right spot, I mean not desperately shooting the sides of the pedals to squeeze some DPS in.
I would suggest on a human build that you use shielded FSD for a survival build against higher Thargoids as they target FSD and Thrusters. The main thing is the weapon focused Distributor to give the max 5 shots on a cyclops.
Astros builds have such a 'hurried' feel. He says he is not using shields, because of damage 'I will show you how to deal with later in the video'. Then he plays the build and gets damaged but edits out the heal procedure. Hurried. 70/100. Never mentions LHS 1163. Everyone headed out to T Tauri. Sad. Also thinks module re-enforcement will help with heat damage. Tsk.
Two words. COLD. ORBIT. Join the "What's the Goid even shooting at?" club. There's a reason CE PDs are the meta. A Krait with an A-rate can pull out the full magazine from five modshards without a problem. Likely the sixth, but five hardpoints overall.
I made this build and a cutter and vett variant also. I still prefer the plasma chargers because i can run all shield boosters and remain tanky. The PCs out damage the shards per shot so your premy ammo is more efficiently used.
Vette has seven hardpoints, but only five of those can fit class 2 modshards. The remaining two fit class 1 modshards, but unfortunately the convergence is kind of ass compared to Conda.
I fly very similar Anaconda, but with pre-engineered plasmas. Do shards have enough damage to exert Hydras' hearts solo? Assuming you have full WEP capacitor with 4 pips on it.
This build is great, but generate a lot of heat. So changing some the modified medium shard with normal large shard is also a viable alternative. The pure modified build maybe a bit better due to the smaller spread and faster projectile speed, but combined build need less grind (as the normal shard needs to be unlocked once), and more safer, while still very effective. It worth noting that probably not all attack will be an isntagib as all shot needs to be landed on the Goid in 2.5 second, and if not, then no result at all. The instagib still possible with 5 mod medium and 1 mod small (shards): ua-cam.com/video/nUSegRdrh4c/v-deo.html&lc=Ugzh-m4iXZfZL-QxSA94AaABAg.9lhs27zMJF09lhy4mLvjkT The ships that are compatable with this build: Anaconda: 6 mod medium / 4 large and 2 mod medium + 2 free small hardpoint T10: 6 mod medium / 4 large and 2 mod medium + free 2 small and 1 medium hardpoint Cutter: 6 mod medium / 3 large and 3 mod medium + free 1 medium hardpoint Corvette: Anaconda: 5 mod medium and 1 mod small / 3 large and 2 mod medium and 1 mod small + free 1 small hardpoint Gunship: Anaconda: 5 mod medium and 1 mod small / 1 large and 4 mod medium and 1 mod small + free 1 small hardpoint It is also worth mentioning that instagibbing is possible with 6 modified medium plasma charger too, but it is harder then with shards. Instagibbing with gauss is not possible. ua-cam.com/video/JdMfz0-IW4A/v-deo.html
Hmm, spent a week on and off building this ship, and now notice hat there are NO systems in thargoid Invasion state. Haven't found any target yet. Are there still bases being attacked? How do I find them?
I've been using a conda with a similar build for the last couple of weeks. I was using 6 modified shard cannons but went to 5 because it generated crazy heat. I've got my scanner & beam lasers on the same fire group. The most annoying thing about this build is the low ammo clip capacity and long reload time.
Interesting ! I was expecting a rick rolled when I saw the youtube link... Would a corvette or cutter be viable instead of the conda ? Especially considering heat management ?
@@DowntoEarthAstronomy Hi, It can be modified for a Corvette, but the dispersion on Cutter is too large imho. Unless of course you are face hugging or ramming :)

Getting increasingly frustrated hearing the phrase “super easy” followed by a ship setup that glosses over what amounts to months of grinding for ordinary players. It feels like these videos are aimed squarely at people who do nothing else but play Elite Dangerous all day, every day… which is fine, and I do appreciate being able to watch parts of the game I will never get to experience myself. But please stop using the phrase “super easy”.
Played Elite Dangerous for like 2 months and already have a fully engineered FDL. It's just a matter of min/maxing your time. In the same amount of time, my friend hasn't even unlocked any engineers because he is too focused on making billions.
If you ever played elite dangerous you know that what he's talking about his obviously not for beginners. If you are beginner and you want to kill thyroid you are not playing dangerous.... You're playing yourself! Think about the concept of a beginner playing the endgame of any game and complaining about the fact that they can't play the endgame game right away don't be an idiot yes you can be into the game yes you have to put hours and hours into engineering. But the rewards are videos from people that have done so showing you how to win against the hardest victory creatures in the world Suck it up get it better stop complaining!Suck it up get it better stop complaining!
They are all correct, it IS "super easy".....if you learn the effective ways to farm mats. If you don't want to do that, there is a harder but cheaper way. Look up a UA-cam video on the Diamondback Explorer called "The Sawtooth". It is a non-engineered AX (Anti-Xeno) build. Killing Thargoids with it is also possible and quite satisfying. There is another zero grind ship called the Ripsaw based on a Chieftain by another UA-cam channel. So get out there commander and stop finding reasons to complain about what you can't do....yet.
So it's not as simple and easy to do as he makes it seem. And I really do wish he mentioned that. It takes practice, and it takes getting a feel for how it works. And things can still go wrong. For example if your weapons capacitor is not full for some reason, you won't be able to fire off all five shots and you might not notice that. Or if you're using a shield (which I would highly recommend to add a little bit of extra buffer to your life), You have to watch your system capacitor or else you won't be able to fire off a heat sink. And sometimes the weapons just don't seem to fire right even if you have full weapons capacitors. All in all you do have to get a feel for this and it can be frustrating to get them to face you and come at you at a speed that's not too fast that you can actually get all five shots off. But it's a lot easier once you get used to it. -It's stupid difficult to do this. So much can and does go wrong. From the thargoid shooting past you before you can get all five shots off, to the 5 shots just....not all working?? like wtf? I've done this exactly ONCE so far. And made so many attempts. IT"S INSANELY frustrating how you present this as a super easy thing and it's not. It's frustrating as hell.-
How did you even get the ship build described in this video? That’s the bit I was looking at and just thinking… “Nope. I have a day job, a family and a social life.”
I am new to Thargoid, I have been doing everything else in the game and having fun but is this the best thing to start on with Thargoid? Also can you explane the shutdown field neutraliser?
At certain times in the battle (arrival to CZ, after 3rd heart is destroyed) the inteceptors will release an EMP pulse. Fortunately the computer will warn you in time so you can switch to it. The SFN releases a counter-pulse to stop their pulse, thus your ship will continue to operate. Without it, you'll lose power and be a sitting duck for a minute (or crash into a planet and die like I did once). There are ways to avoid this pulse without an SFN but you'll need a fast boost speed and good timing so you're KMs' away before the pulse goes off.
@@DowntoEarthAstronomy Right, I’ll look into that thought they were only on pc for some reason. Huge fan of your content btw it’s really helped a ton! :)
The fling beacon build :D It is effective but very heat heavy. An alternative to this is to change some (1-4) engineered medium to unengineered large, which generate significantly less heat.
Hello, Has anyone tried this or a similar build against an Orthrus? (They can be found in non-human signals 4 in Systems in Alert.) I was wondering if you could dispose of them before they destroy the Guardian equipment. I am currently using 6 Missile launchers, but you can only do 3or 4 of them before you are out of ammo. (By the way you can use the same approach as for High Grades to have more chances.)
Ok I give up. got allied with azimuth at T Tauri pretty fast selling explo data and giving support money. spent all day yesterday running missions and didnt get a permit for mbooni. today I tried going to LHS 1163 and ran 5 hours worth of missions from there - still no permit. last ditch effort i tried going to hip 22640 on a rumor you could buy salvation gear there but that turned out to be a bust. maybe my goid killing rank isnt high enough or some other hidden factor but when 10 dedicated hours isn't enough to make a smidge of progress things stop being fun it becomes grind. I dont grind. maybe I'll try again later but this shot my itch to fight goids right in the bum.
Thank you for this ship build guide Asto. Now this build is Ok, fun at the beginning, but can only insta kill cyclops and it's not so great in outer space where you need to deal with swarm/s. So no nerfing required. Imho Krait Mk2 or Chieftain/Challenger (for speed) with gauss cannons 3 or 5 in two groups is much better but it requires getting use to - no insta kills though. Get familiar with Thargoids mechanics and practice gauss cannons with flight assist off and soon you will murder all type of goids to your heart content ;) If I may see Astyrrean vids. Glory to mankind ! - See you out there in the black Cmdrs o7
i did all the stuff to get the modified guardian shard cannon unlocked and 3 out 6 just vanished in storage. There went my 4 hours of work. Hate this...
@@lightwoven5326 I'm not sure if it matters that the hearts are armoured, this build deals so much damage that the hearts can't repair the cyclops fast enough, you don't need to destroy any of the hearts
@@Jaaxfo It does matter, though it's not the only parameter. Let's say from experience of this build, it's a 1 trick pony, but can be tailored to fight Hydras in a wing even for those with low exposure to Thargoid combat. It's fun and that's brilliant for current gameplay.
@@lightwoven5326 What do you need to make this able to fight higher variants as well? Can you just aim for the hearts as you normally would with gauss cannons? This seems so much easier than my Phantom 4X gauss build (where I use 2 gauss at a time anyway), I don’t see how this could possibly be harder against Hydras.
@@marionetteworks hi, This is not a gauss cannon build, it is not for those who have great skill and good aim as well as the ability to cold orbit using thrusters. It's a wing monster, a large hammer, not a surgical strike weapon. It can be made to work as part of a newbie wing on higher Goids around planetary bases. It is fun to use and useful to gain experience. You would be hard pushed to cold orbit in a tank and ditto for a Conda. However, it has its place, clearing out planetary ports and going head to head with all manner of Goids. You can make it survivable in a wing or team around starports, but its lack of maneuverability it will get eaten by a swarm if not defended.
Hey Dave! I just noticed one thing.. I think you are a very big point of reference for Elite Dangerous and it suprise my that you dont have a playlist for it.. I think that expecialy now that you are not uploading Elite animore that you should create at least 1 playlist on your channel including every video you did.. it would help your views as well.. immagine someone that cares about what you have to teach.. they come to your channel and cant find Elite content.. (that his what appened to me.. I play elite since 6 years ago but whanted to whatch some of your videos but cant…)
I got 70 Mio. in combat bonds by killing Cyclopes but then I got -15% after handing them in at a rescue ship. Where am I supposed to hand them in for full cash back? I could not find a station with the same faction.
I don't understand how you use the hestsinks, they don't have a spin up, so why wait a second? Pop it and pew pew. Also why don't you use 2 at once to avoid heat damage? Has this build also been tested against bigger thargoids? I'm a bit afraid that in the next basilisk / Medusa fights I get into there'll be people using this kind of build just spamming damage on the hull, causing the goids to panic shield over and over.
Won't work on even a Basi. It has more hardness and over double the HP. Still need to do them the old fashioned way, splash hearts, murder Goid. Four modshards with Prem ammo do ~900-1000 HP (as you're outpacing the regen on the Clops). Add another two Modshards with Prems, you're only adding an additional 50% damage output, which still brings you to the realm of ~1350-1500. On an enemy with greater hardness (so the actual damage delivered is cut down by some percentage) and 1800HP (so even if the Basi had the hardness of the Clops, you're not doing enough to kill it). The short of it is that to kill a Basi, you'd need somewhere in the realm of ~2000-2200 damage, delivered within a few seconds at most. Now, if you have two Shardacondas, you can gib a Basi, sure.
Not for me. Are you sure you're using the build described by D2EA? Are you sure you're fighting Cyclops only? Be sure also to keep your ship very cold less than 20% (by using lasers), and by launching heatsink just before "instagib". Of course, you can get some module failures (including weapons), but they're temporary. Be sure I'm so far to be an ace in combat (I don't master Cold Orbiting technique, for example) but be sure I can kill Cyclops (thread level 5 in AX conflict zones) very easily. o7
So frustrating that in order to get better equipment for combat, which is quite fun, you first have to torture yourself for hours in an SRV doing some of the most uninspired and boring busy work.
Turn FA off, make sure rotational correction is always off, boost and keep boosting. Charge FSD regardless of your heading and once charged aim for the jump vector, boost, FA on.

The other variants have to much health to knock them down to 0% hull with a salvo from the shard cannons. While your cannons are reloading the interceptor will deploy a heart and regenerate back to 100%. I suppose with premium ammo you might be able to insta kill a higher variant.
Because there is a player group in the game that would not appreciate all the content they have been using, and training Cmdrs on, becoming obsolete in a day? They call it 'Speedrunning' in the discord channel they use. Time and a place for everything, and the AXI will never find time to place this build in the 'suggested builds' list of their website. Another way to see which Thargoid variant it is, with the scanner but without performing a full scan is to look just below the Thargoid hologram on your HUD. I don't think any module reinforcement (guardian or not) helps protecting your modules against overheating. They only protect modules from weapon damage. Not saying you shouldn't have them, but the reason to have them is not for overheating protection.
I've done some tests to confirm this.
I'll watch you try to crawl to the repair dock with about 50% of the hull and almost all broken modules)

DoA _always_ skipped details, and his vids always appears to be like: "look, how much I'm cool in grinding! roly-poly"
Wow that's amazing! I've never managed to kill anything bigger than a scout.
"so we have nice flat Thargoid to shoot at" - priceless.
Followed your guide and after all that time I can’t have an experimental weapon stabiliser, I’m gutted because thargoids are kicking my ass 😂
MBooni is permit locked, so dont assume you can just go and do this off the bat.
This is true, however participating in any of the community events has offered the permit for a bit
Never heard of LHS 1163?
Tsk.

There's a reason CE PDs are the meta. A Krait with an A-rate can pull out the full magazine from five modshards without a problem. Likely the sixth, but five hardpoints overall.
Ooohh I've been waiting for this moment! Finally!
does this still work in the current meta? did they add the requirement to exert hearts since this video went up?

Is this using standard ammo? I tried this build and I did not seem to be doing the same damage as the video
I made this build and a cutter and vett variant also. I still prefer the plasma chargers because i can run all shield boosters and remain tanky. The PCs out damage the shards per shot so your premy ammo is more efficiently used.
Also, I've got a question. Is this build Anaconda only? I had some thoughts about making AX Federal Corvette...
Assuming you have full WEP capacitor with 4 pips on it.
can you compare Vette and Cutter builds please?
anyone know if 5 shards on a vette is still bursty enough?
@@CaptainFathoots 5 shards on a vette is not enough. However, 1 class 1 Mod shard on top is just barely enough. Have to land every shot but it plays.

The instagib still possible with 5 mod medium and 1 mod small (shards):

The ships that are compatable with this build:
Anaconda: 6 mod medium / 4 large and 2 mod medium + 2 free small hardpoint
T10: 6 mod medium / 4 large and 2 mod medium + free 2 small and 1 medium hardpoint
Cutter: 6 mod medium / 3 large and 3 mod medium + free 1 medium hardpoint
Corvette: Anaconda: 5 mod medium and 1 mod small / 3 large and 2 mod medium and 1 mod small + free 1 small hardpoint
Gunship: Anaconda: 5 mod medium and 1 mod small / 1 large and 4 mod medium and 1 mod small + free 1 small hardpoint
It is also worth mentioning that instagibbing is possible with 6 modified medium plasma charger too, but it is harder then with shards. Instagibbing with gauss is not possible.

Hmm, spent a week on and off building this ship, and now notice hat there are NO systems in thargoid Invasion state. Haven't found any target yet.
Are there still bases being attacked? How do I find them?
Can I use the size 3 guardian shard cannons too?
Now this, is a grind!
I have not tested it on other ship. But I'm sure you can make this work on other ships too.

Just farm g5 materials and trade. It's not complicated
Yea its not that hard or complicated. It IS super easy if you have the G5 mats lol.
What is the current limit of anti-xeno weapons on a ship? Everywhere i read that you can have only 4 of them, or 5 with an Azimuth stabilizer.
4 by default, 5 with the class 3 stabilizer, and 6 with the class 5 stabilizer
i wonder if you could do this between a pair of imperial couriers because they have 3 medium hardpoints each for a totall of six?
That's actually a really interesting idea, I dunno if its power distributor can handle that, but I might try it out with someone
Are guardian weapons working again? I've heard that they don't work anymore?
I’m only able to equip 4 shard cannons at a time. Are you only able to equip more of them on the PC version?

Hello,
Has anyone tried this or a similar build against an Orthrus?
(They can be found in non-human signals 4 in Systems in Alert.)
I was wondering if you could dispose of them before they destroy the Guardian equipment.
I am currently using 6 Missile launchers, but you can only do 3or 4 of them before you are out of ammo.
(By the way you can use the same approach as for High Grades to have more chances.)
Anyone know if this possible on console? Or will they not be adding the experimental weapon stabilizer…
Do you use premium ammo or standard for this build?

I wonder how many CMDRs you would need with this loadout to instagib each of the interceptor variants
The higher ones have armour over the hearts, so you cannot instagib. However as a Wing you can take down Hydras with multiple Shard Condas.

Does it work on orthrus varient?
A Krait MKII can do it also
i do it with my Krait MKII and conda. both works great.
targhoids destroied my shard cannons to easy every time, all of 6 easily. how to avoid this?
Hey no… it’s “super easy”. Did you not hear the man use the phrase “super easy” right near the beginning of the video. 😂
