I have a couple of those, one with a working treadle. Both are older as well. Neither need restoring as they all work. Very solid for sewing cloth.

Appreciate the warning about the pedal speed controller. I picked up an old jewelers Foredom shaft drive grinder. It has that style of speed controller. I’m going to upgrade mine before using it again. A fire avoided.

I have a few old Singers too. I put a spoked handwheel on a singer 27 and installed a hand crank on it. It'd be a cool comparison to the Chinese cobbler machine if you decide to do that.

Have an early 50's Singer 216g built in Germany. The worst part of the current motor set up is the lack of low speed power and control. I have a servo motor for an industrial sewing machine but it is so wildly overpowered it would be like installing a big block V8 on a skateboard. Will be exploring options.

II have an old Singer from around 1949 with a separate button-hole attachment My problem is it used a rubber drive wheel instead of a belt. After setting for a long time the rubber drive wheel developed a flat spot. I don't know how to get the flat set out of the wheel, or where to get another wheel for the motor. The rheostat is not pedal, but knee actuated. Is this still a fire hazard? I bought this machine in the 1970's, when the lady bought a new machine with all the bells and whistles incorporated into the machine. It was used extensively, with no pronlem.

Just received my Chinese patcher. It works very well and thanks to you just a few adjustments. However when my wheel handle is at 12:00 my bobbin carrier seems to be at about 4:00 and after watching your videos that spot you refer to where the wheel finds a little resistance at about 2:00 seems to happen at about 12:00. As I said it seems to work well as is. Just wondering if I need to readjust everything or is it fine the way it is? Thanks.

If it is sewing good I would leave it alone. It may have something to do with the set up on your pittman rod.

Hey Mr acres. I got one of the Chinese cobblers and it worked great at first . The bobbin picks up every time so the timing is right but the pressure isn’t walking so it’s not feeding the thread while stitching it’s just stitching in the same place marking a knot. Everything is intact I even took it apart and then it worked again but then just stopped walking again. Please if you know of anything I can do to fix that PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED..! Please help! YOUR THE ONLY ONE THAT KNKWS ABOUT THESE MACHINES (the Chinese cobbler) please..🙏🏽
