the Fantom-8 works incredibly well with Keyscape as well. The PHA-50 action brings out the best in that plug in.
Great Vid and nice presentation and quality!! I am considering purchasing the Fantom 0 and really like the idea I can use it right inside my DAW. Presently using Studio One V5 do you see any problems using it with Studio One?

Hi Ed, since I updated to Mac OS Monterey , there are no Sound when I play as you told at 5:27. I made this video also before I updated to OS 12, on OS 11 it worked. What do I need?

Hi Ed. I have an F7 for 2 weeks now and i cant get any midi out of it. Either mdid out or USB (if it does output midi on usb) Tried it in cw pa9, Sonar 1.31 and cw by bandlab. Select fantom 6 7 8 and fantom 6 7 8 midi in 1 in devices. Nothing. Where the hell am i going wrong?

When you loaded the tracks into Logic, I noticed your track settings are changing. Is there a setup that I'm missing? Automatically my port says All. It doesn't recognize my program nor bank and all channel inputs and outputs is set to All. I selected start at channel 1 like you did.
Hi! i my connection of Fandom 08 to Logic pro went well. The Daw Ctr works its shows me on screen same of logic as in the fantom. I want to use fantom as midi with te sounds of logic but that function doesn't work. same when i play i see signal get in to channel but i can't hear anything! please help!

Help, I can only record my scenes as audio, midi only works in single tone, as soon as I press the scene button the midi stops working. Any suggestions?

Can you play the sequencer in the FANTOM and have Logic record the MIDI from that please? I'm thinking of situations where you have mostly built a song directly in the FANTOM but might want to use Logic to finesse it or do things that aren't yet possible with the FANTOM sequencer, e.g. unusual time signatures, tempo change. Or do I have to save it all as a MIDI File and then physical move it from the FANTOM to the computer using a USB stick?

HOW DID CONNECT THE FANTOM TO THE COMPUTER
Is it the same procedure for Fantom-06? I followed the steps, and can record MIDI into Logic Pro X - but there’s no sound.
About my setup:
My Fantom-06 is connected via USB to my iMac - and is also plugged into my my audio device using TRS 1/4 cables (stereo)
Komplete Audio 6 is the audio interface (also connected via USB) and connected to my Fantom-06 and a pair of Yamaha HS5 studio monitors
It works fine to record MIDI with software instruments and to record audio tracks from my Fantom-06 - but not MIDI data along with the audio (from the selected tone selected in any zone I’ve set up).
Hope anyone can clear this out
Are you Running "BIG SUR" or 10.15 "Catalina" Because I'm having trouble use my $4K Synth as a CONTROLLER for my VST's plus would be nice to Record the FANTOM SOUNDS using MIDI (Tweaking) then Convert into Audio Files? I know that it does THIS!.... Don';t know what I'm doing wrong another than just seeing on ROLAND"S site under FANTOM> DOWNLOADS show that I need MAC OS 11 not 10.15 yet other Cheap Controllers or my YAMAHA CP4 can be used as a CONTROLLER? ... why sooooo HARD with this F'n ROLAND?
Has any run into the issue with Fantom-6 7 8 not showing in the MIDI Destination drop down? I see Fantom-6 7 8 Fantom-6 7 8 MIDI OUT 1 and 2. And I've installed the Fatom drivers as was explained.

@@michaelnilsson4764 I think I did, but have sold my Fantom earlier this year. I've looked at all the videos on the Fantom from Ed Diaz and I believe I did but I can't say which video to look at. Good luck.
I had to install macOS Monterey 12.1 to install Logic Pro Trial 10.7.2 on my MacBook Pro. Then installed Fantom Driver 1.0.3_for_macOS_11 and Fantom Logic Control Surface Plugin 1.0.1. I followed your tutorial but couldn't make things work. For starters, the External MIDI window in Logic has somewhat changed and I'm not sure which one to choose. Is there something I need to do to make it work? TIA
I have the same issue. No sound when I Play some tones like in the Video at 4:25. I am shure that It worked on OS 11. But since OS 12 this do not work. Do have some answer from Roland?
@@hugohinsel Well, after several hours trying different things I finally had things working. I uninstalled both the driver and the Logic plugin and reinstalled them again, following the instructions carefully like not plugging and starting the Fantom until told so and restarting the computer after the driver was installed but before installing the plugin, and now I see the correct port in the External MIDI Destination dropbox (FANTOM-6 7 8). Everything works correctly now including the Logic DAW control surface.

Nice video about making a song but not useful to get the Fantom to work with Logic. I set up everything as described by no MIDI data received in Logic. Can't figure what I'm missing.
Thanks, apq655! I'm a new Fantom owner trying to get it to work with Digital Performer, and am pretty much in the same boat. Weird that such a beautiful, deep instrument makes sequencing with MIDI such a difficult task.
It is such a frustration to try to arrange all these settings trying to get the sound out of logic in the usb midi mode.
What Mac should I get for my fantom? Do I need the very latest desktop ?would a laptop work ? I am a newb
If you have a decent audio interface then a MacBook Pro would work wonderful. I picked up a 2012 i5 MacBook Pro stripped the dvd drive out and put a second hard drive in (1tb ssd) and changed the stock hard drive as well(another 1tb ssd) and then upgraded the ram to 16gb and this thing flies it out performs by some way my stock 2015 MacBook Pro that also has a 2tb ssd in it and the total cost of the MacBook Pro 2x 1tb ssd and 16gb ram upgrade was about £475 and I use it for production all the time with no issues and plays very nicely with my Fantom 8
Thank you for this video, but Logic does nit recognize the midi sent from the Fantom, could anybody let me know how to configure logic preferences ?
Maybe check the USB settings and switch it to VENDOR. Hope this helps!

unfortunately, after millions of combinations and explanatins videos on how to fix the sound in the midi format via usb, sound is NOT coming!
So why do you do it fast..? It’s like you believe that everybody already know what to do and where to put the fingers, wich is something many of us really don’t know and we just get very frustrated and have to go back and go back again intill we can see what is is that you actually are doing!
Right. It took me a while to understand why in 4:00 when Ed chose channel 2 in Logic and went to the Fantom screen and said that the Fantom says it "is" on zone 5 that he meant zone 5 "is selected" on the Fantom, like when you select a zone using the SELECT buttons, and that it is Logic that actually triggered the instrument in zone 2 because both MIDI channels in Fantom and in Logic are set to 2. He didn't pause to clarify this possible confusion a viewer, like me, might have.
