For anyone who has the issue where the update doesnt start after copying the files into the flash drive, YOU NEED ONLY THE 3 FILES INSIDE THE ROOT OF THE FLASH DRIVE. If you copy and paste the folder WITH the files inside, it will not update since they are stuck in the folder. I took the files out of the folder within the flashdrive and this worked no problem
Couldn’t Roland have streamlined an already nervous process for most? Having to boot it up in a firmware update mode with the write key on boot. Then you have to update two separate boards, swapping the USB drive with the update files on, to the ext usb port. Anyway, easy to follow video so thank you.
Thanks a lot for the vid. Easy update. Probably the most challenging part for people is ensuring the three files in the zip file are extracted to the root directory of their USB drives, and ensuring those files are not contained in a folder on their USB drives. A simple drag and drop from two open windows of File Explorer: one showing the three extracted files in the zip file, and one displaying the contents for the root folder of the USB drive....
Hey there, Thank you for this video. I got mine just this week and i noticed in a day or two that the Rhythm pattern stopped working. - There is no sound when I select a pattern. It started to work after doing a factory reset. Then again in a day or so it stopped worked. I just did a firmware update but that hasn't solved the issue. Any leads? Thanks
Thanks for the question. I'm not 100 percent sure I highly recommend contacting the place you purchased and see if they replace it. Or Roland directly just to be on the safe side. Let me know how things shake out!
The problem I have is it gets to the update screen and says to insert a usb drive in MEMORY and the cursor just spins. This is the same drive I have been using so who knows! arggg
Sir I am from India I have purchased new fantom o6 latest version 1.05. When I installed expention in my keyboard then show incorrect file Plz help me fix my problem
I did this and got 'Program version error'. Couldn't even factory reset. Found a video from NALS in Thailand. I tried again with an 8gb USB. I then started the machine with it in USB slot and holding down the 'write' button. The process then continued properly. Phew. It seems they hate 64gb USBs and can't handle over 32.
Does the update fix the sound being cut off during second 2 of the following scene sounds being played after having switched scenes? I can read that v5 erases "noise between scenes when changing scenes" Is it the same thing?
ua-cam.com/video/IEfXs68rhDM/v-deo.htmlsi=J-e8rEVUm4psOKen It kind of sounds like scene remain function. More of a function than a fix. To be honest, I don't really use the board for live gigging. Are you having noise when you switch while playing or not playing? Maybe the link above might help.
@@GammaLensMedia I had activated "Scene Remain" and the keyboard kept cutting the new sound in second 2 during the transitions, making it impossible to switch from pizzicatto strings to a synth lead without the cuts being noticed by everybody. Scene remain was on the whole time. It only works when using keyboard switch groups but then I can't have my hands free to play if I'm pressing the pads to switch across sounds. I ended up returning the keyboard. I'll try the Korg Nautilus. See how it does sound transitions
@thephoenixchant honestly that's sounding like a polyphony issue. I actually have a video coming out tomorrow about the Fantoms issues with polyphony count in my video tomorrow morning. The board seems to get overwhelmed really quickly when playing a lot of instruments at the same time. Hopefully the Nautalis is a better fit for you. If it's cutting notes off it's polyphony count is overloaded. A bad limitation of this board unfortunately.
@@GammaLensMedia Hello back. Thank you for the through suggestions. Recently, I have tried with the JUNO D6 in a local shop to switch to the next scene using the Control pedal and the same thing happened; only that it happened without the brief noise. The JUNO D6 only has one tone per hand in the split, unlike the Fantom-0, which had two in the left hand and another two polionic ones in the right hand. It was like a 1 second lag to load the next sound. I found out that if I pressed the switch pedal just at the same time I pressed the last chord from the former tones, when I pressed the keys again, half a second later, the next sound was the right one, without it getting cut out. I tried doing the same in the Fantom-0 with the factory settings and I had the feeling it took a little longer to load second 2, although I am not sure, as it was a quick test. Maybe I'm wrong about this. It could have been because I had 2 sounds in each hand, or because my timing while pressing the pedal was not as good as it was when I tried it in the Juno-D. Another thing I found out was that after the scene 1 changed to scene 2 in the Fantom-0, the pitchbend didn't work in the first new chord. I've seen in the updates that the pitchbend bug can be addressed with the update, and it could be the "pitchbend moving fast causing that" issue. IF the issue was my timing when pressing the switch pedal, and the pitchbend bug can be addressed too with the update, I would return the Juno-D and get the Fandtom-0. If not, I would keep the Juno-D. The former Juno DS switched between sounds instantly, although the new Juno-D takes longer, although just the time short snough not to bother me excessively. If that is not a poliphony issue, do you think the Fantom-0 takes more time to load the next scene than the Juno-D? That it does so only when using 2 sounds in each hand? Or neither? I found a workaround to all this in the Fantom-0 which weas to set up the sounds as keyboard switch groups, although there is no function in the menu to switch to the next keyboard switch group, as the INC+ function does not apply to keyboard switch groups in its default firmware. Has any of these been fixed in the update? Should I keep the Juno D or get the Fantom-0? By the way. I was playing 4 simultaneous notes in my right hand using marcatto + legatto strings and then I switched to caldrum lead + wizard lead. I was using my right hand only. Could this have been due to polyphony? Or more likely bad timing while pressing the pedal (too late)? Has the pitchbend bug been addressed in this update?
@@GammaLensMedia Scene Remain on. Marcatto strings + Legatto Strings 4 notes right hand chord. No left hand although 2 string sounds on there too. I press the INC+/next scene control pedal (maybe too late) after playing the chord. Next, Wizard Lead + Caldrum lead in one note of my right hand take too long to load, or load and make loading noises and then load properly, or the pitchbend fails (due to playing it fast maybe). Tried the same on a Juno-D. No pitchbend bug. No noise but sound 2 took way too long to load. Played the pedal AT THE SAME TIME as the last chord of sounds 1 and 2 and that gave the system enough time to load well the next sound properly. Sound 1 faded smoothly as sound 2 loaded in when it had to. No issues whatsoever in the Juno-D. I think the same could apply to the Fantom-0 after the update but I can't try it at the shop because their firmware is not updated. Not sure if, apart from my bad timing pressing the switch pedal, the Fantom-0 takes longer to load sounds than the Juno-D or if the issues I mentioned are fixed iwith the update. It would be ideal to be able to switch across keyboard switch groups with the pedal but I don't think that option was addded. What about the other issues though? Does the update fix them? If so, I would return the Juno D and get the Fanto-0. Not sure what to do
I'll try and do a test and see if the polyphony is still an issue on the new firmware update. I don't generally layer sounds on the fantom 0 to play (other than the scenes that are already built into the board). I'm not a stage player, and polyphony is huge for live playing. As a studio musician, I generally do one channel at a time recording instrument by instrument when making songs ( so for my use, polyphony hasn't affected me). I'll do a video on this soon.
You should only do the update you want. If you want the 1.5 update, you should only have to update once. All other fixes typically are included as they move up firmware numbers.

You have to put your pendrive in 2nd slot while uploading the update
Dealing with the same problem. What did you do?
The fantom only reads sticks under 16gb format in a Fat 32 format. Just do this the fantom will read the stick
