Very helpful. Two things though. Firstly, a question.
Can you slave the Fantom to Logic so that it starts the playback of a song sequenced in the Fantom at the same time Logic begins recording? I have tried all the MIDI/Sync settings combinations in the system settings but the Fantom doesn't respond to the transport of Logic. I don't want to instal the DAW control as it's an M1 Mac and I don't want anything that's running through Rosetta 2 messing with the set-up.
Secondly, it's worth mentioning that, understandably, each track keeps its own MFX, but all the IFX and master FX are lost. So you would need to create equivalents chorus/delay and reverb plugin send effects in Logic and then set the send levels from each individual track appropriately to get close to how the mix sounds on the Fantom.
I think the only other way around it is to switch back from 'Parallel' to 'Mix' and then solo and record each track individually, with the full effects path in place. Which would be messy, because unless you can slave the Fantom to Logic and start recording automatically, each time you would then have to manually line up each trach correctly with the others.

Is there a way to hear just the Fantom out of its USB audio (playback) and not the Fantom itself (input)? In similar function as the "direct monitor" knob in Scarlett 2i4 audio interfaces. 🤔

Thanks for the video. I have a query, when I recorded the same song (A014 Demo: Feeling you) in the same fashion the way you did it and got recorded on logic, but when I played back the recorded music on logic all tracks didn't have tone effects recorded. Can you please help to solve my issue.
Since I have to set this as an input device, I can't use this with other synths, guitars, etc. from my audio interface? If that's the case, software synths are definitely the way to go over this.
can you sync the tempo of the Fantom sequencer to Logic?
I’m having trouble seeing the recorded audio signal in the mixer channel after the 16tracks have been recorded. The only signal I get is on stereo out track. Logic Pro everything is up to date. Any help?

Hi, Thanks for the Video, But I think there is some issue while recording in Logic, reference to your video I followed same as you did and I din't found any issue in recording the first Song 'A014 Demo: Feeling you' ((As I clicked 'MENU' then 'ZONE EDIT' & then in 'TONE' is saw on the right side of 'Out Column everything was set to 'MAIN' and because of that each track was recorded perfectly with their individual sound effects in the logic)). BUT IN THE NEXT SONG 'A003 Something Air' ((As I clicked 'MENU' then 'ZONE EDIT' & then in 'TONE' is saw on the right side of 'Out Column of 'track 6' (IFX2) & tack 7 (IFX1) didn't record their individuals sound effects in the Logic. (same I could here that sound effects to track 6 & track 7 with (IFX) it dint record in your video too) can you please confirm how to solve that issue.

@Paskel Berry Yes, it does. I have the Fantom 8 and works fine on Logic on MacOS Big Sur version 11.2.3
Thank you for this! Followed word for word and got it working with Logic. Can anyone briefly explain how to use Fantom simply as a Midi controller to work with plug-ins? Or is there a video for setting that up? THANKS!
I think if USB is set to "Generic" it will set it as a generic controller, while "Vendor" will allow you to record audio from the Fantom.
I'm wondering if it's possible to record a mic or an external instrument that is plugged into the Mic/Line inputs on the Fantom into my DAW (not as a sample on the Fantom itself) using the Fantom as a USB audio interface.
What I mean is that when you use Fantom as a USB audio interface with a DAW (I'm using Logic x) and select the Fantom as your ASIO driver, you get 16 stereo inputs (one for the audio put out by each zone) and 3 stereo outputs (the Main and 2 Sub outs) There is no separate input in the ASIO driver for the MIC/LINE inputs?
I have been trying to figure out the same thing for my Fantom 06. I wish we could route the mic in through one of the zones or the mic had its own input show up.
Will Roland make this happen for Cubase 11? Or is it a big middle finger to Yamaha not to make it happen?

Is there a way to specify audio coming from input 1 or 2 (on the back of the Fantom - recording audio from a mic where I'm singing along, for instance) to a specific zone (1-16). I would love to be able to sing or play guitar, specify it to be on track/zone 16 (for example), and that audio is recorded separately just like the different parts from the keyboard.

I’m sure you would have tried it, but if not, you could use Input 1 or 2 (individually) when choosing them as inputs in Logic.

Select the Fantom as your DAW interface (correct drivers must be installed and the Fantom driver mode set to “vendor”). Set the Fantom USB Audio setting to “Mix.” In your DAW, choose 1, 2 or 1+2 as your mono or stereo input source.

How would I do this on a Roland fantom 06
the Fantom has three USB ports on the back so the Big Question is do the USB ports power up other devices or let other keyboards send midi signals thru the fantom with usb because My Daw FL Studio shows that the fantom is ready to be played but my MODX doesn’t show up but it’s plugged in the fantom with USB & so is my Seaboard & Maschine Jam. I dont have this issue with my MPC X but it only has two USB ports🤦🏾♂️ please I need help/Answers. I love the Fantom by the way...
The USB ports do power devices and can support midi class compliant devices. But it does not act as a USB HUB in connection with your computer. If you want to connect your devices to your computer you might want to buy a USB HUB. Because the USB ports on the Fantom act as an expansion for the Fantom and not for the Computer. Hope this helped.

@@FaidedBTB I doubt it my friend. Remember that all of the that data has to transmitted via that single USB.B port and its only USB 2.0. If it were USB 3.0 then oh yeah definitely! But that hardware limits that possibility. Then again, we can only hope.

Yes it does, it works with all DAWs as long as download and install the drivers for your computer OS.

Ive asked this quite a few times now, but never see any info..I use REASON and all drivers etc work and i can get the Fantoms audio and midi to work in Reason. However i cant get REASON to record all the different channels from the fantom as you show here... Even now when ive altered my USB settings... Any chance you could look into this Ed ??

@@ablesam hi... I can record audio and midi into reason but I can't get reason to offer recording on more than one audio track at a time... Not a massive problem but it would be so much better to have all the parts I make record onto individual tracks...
@@michaeljohn2029 Can you tell me which OS are you using (MAC or WIndows) and the Sample rate and bit rate that you are running on. Also are you using the Fantom interface or an Aggregate device.

@@michaeljohn2029 Alright. Since you seem to be using 44.1 Khz make the bit depth 24 bit. Try arming all the tracks for recording, and playback any scene from the Fantom with more than 4 zones. There is a demo song called 'Feeling you' in the first 16 scene slots of the Fantom. Arm all the tracks for recording and hit record on REASON and start the song on the keyboard 5 seconds later.Also don't forget to adjust your input and output level from the Fantom.

It supports 96Khz 24bit recording for 16 stereo outputs from the Fantom and 3 Stereo Inputs to the Fantom.It's a killer audio interface.

What about the drums? How do you track them separately? Don’t want to mix a song with all the drums on the same track.
i have the same query 😊 I also got carried away by this usb direct recording feature and bought fantom 6 but this feature is pretty useless if you can’t record rhythm patterns/ drums simultaneously.I have tweeted also to roland and no reply so far.

Turn off the Fantom, I think there would be no sound recorded in Logic !!!

I hate to say this but this is not helpful and I cannot find ANYTHING online regarding this Fantom 8. I basically bought a $5K paperweight. I'm so frustrated that this thing is giving me issues. I've followed the driver downloads etc and I've restarted everything and reconnected it. NOTHING is working and I'm just wanting to throw it in the trash. WHY is it so problematic and why aren't you creating videos to help people troubleshoot why it might not be connecting? NONE OF THIS HELPS ME. NONE OF YOUR VIDEOS.
