I was there !! We were standing along the 1st base line..I was 16 years old, we waited all day for this song! Not only did they have the Rebel Flag..they came on stage to the theme music to the Marlboro Man TV Commercial....good times back then!!! Cool grandma now, teaching my grandkids the good book of 70's Rock and of course Skynyrd!!! RIP Legends!!! Thanks for all the amazing Memories!! XO
That's a good one Paul, and to think that Allen Collins was only 18 years of age when he wrote this gem, btw, it took some time before Ronnie Van Zant came up with the lyrics to it.
PLEASE check out the Knebworth live version of this song-the entire version of this version (there is an edited one). It is, believe it or not, the best live version of this song. It's a longer version and the camera work is much better. There are cool shots of the audience but mostly of the band, as it should be. It also accompanies the awesome legendary story being that LS, opening up for the Stones that day, were told before they performed that they COULD NOT go onto the stage "tongue" that was reserved for the Stones. Watch what Ronnie does. I recommend everyone watch that performance as one of the best EVER. RIP to those members of LS no longer with us, one of the best bands of all time.
The cool thing about this song is its the last song Ronnie ever sang just listen to the words. Unfortunately only 3 people in that band are still with us. The greatest solo ever created
"Its so grainy and 70's but at the same time very HD" That's the magic of the old analog 8mm film. It just has a warmth and mood about it that digital can't emulate. Even when they came out with VHS tapes in the 80's it just didn't have the same effect. Same goes for analog vs digital audio recordings. The old reel to reel recordings that they mastered and pressed records from actually do have a warmth and wider dynamics than the later compressed digital recordings lack.
This is back in the 70s . It was live and hard to audio mix with a giant stadium with a screaming crowd. Listen to the studio version if you are so critical.
Good reaction. Seen em a few times in the '90s. They come at like a strafing run during the guitar, drum, pie-annie jam. Note there's very little piano in the studio version. All the live recordings are masterpieces of the greatest rock ballad of all time.
In all these 70s songs it's all about the music not necessarily the voice. All about the insturments and guitars screaming. But the vocals back then. Was real talent what make them really great is the imperfections in their voices. No autotune voice that sounds like a robot I cant stand that stuff. I'm only 22 as well and cant stand the new music of today it's not real music noone plays their insturments on stage like the old days. Very few people take the time and effort to make real music like this
Sooo should have done the Knebworth Version! It goes longer and you actually see Allen playing that solo instead of the crowd every ten seconds! And Ronnie had to tug on his arm to get him to wrap up the solo because the drummer couldn't go anymore. Good reaction
Allen Collins goes off at that performance. Ronnie walks them out on The Rolling Stones Tongue. The One Rule Not To Break. Allen Collins And Steve Gaines feed off each other during dueling solos.
I saw the same show maybe a few weeks later or a month later right before the plane went down. I saw them at Anaheim Stadium and I think it was a much better show. There were a bunch of girls in the front of this show because Peter Frampton was going to come on With his boring love songs. We had REO Speedwagon Foreigner, Ted Nugent, and when the sun went down, Lynyrd Skynyrd came out and just rocked the night. One of the greatest nights of my rock n roll life because I was standing probably 10 feet away from the stage between Ronnie Van Zandt, and Allen Collins. One of the greatest nights of my life, I even enjoyed it more than when I saw Led Zeppelin in Los Angeles live in 1975 and 1977 check out those videos of Stairway to Heaven.. it’s crazy to imagine that all those people out there are grandparents now like myself I was like 19 years old now I’m 66.
Dude, you should pause it more often to give expert commentary and to sway her reaction. Ummm maybe you should react to ummmm... i dunno....ice cream flavors?
i just discovered yalls channel and i have to say you guys give my hope gor the future generation because i can just look at you and tell you are younger than me i was born in 1976 and you have the SAME taste in music i do almost song for song....bless yall
You stopped it away too much, You lose the feel of the song maybe listen to it without Interrupting it then you'll understand what I'm talking about. I was 16 in 1977 Great Decade, Great Times, NO CELL PHONES OR INTERNET! Everyone enjoyed each other's company! WE HAD FUN FUN FUN AND MORE FUN!!
She is absolutely right on this one. He had a cold and guitars were overpowering a little bit. Great video though, Skynyrd is probably top 10 band ever in history this solo is one the best ever.
3 people ahead me in line, somebody handed me a half pint, 1975, arrested 4 drinking in public, Tustoned AZ, handed girl friend tickets, spent the nite in jail
Ronnie Van Zandt, Steve Gaines, and Cassie Gaines, as well as their Manager. Research the band, and learn how tragedy followed them that survived plane crash.
I think it’s funny every time I watch a reaction they mention the guy that turns around looking. Those guys in the plain white T’s were suppose to be crowd control. The problem was the crowd over took them. I saw this live on tv and played my guitar with it but at 3 years old I’m sure I really sucked.
a lot of the technology used today for sound recording as well as what the band and singer have available to them to hear themselves as far as in-ear monitors and things did not exist back then so it will never sound like bands today
the ressean for that is there was no AutoTune in 1977 and there were no earplugs they used what was called BlowBack Speakers so some times the instuments may sound lauder
The 3 guitar army.. I was there that day...I think..lol, after all it was the 70's..things are fuzzy from those days..lol anyway if you want to see a better guitar solo, with only 1 guitar...Veteran of the Psychic wars..by Blue Oyster Cult...live version of course. Maybe the best solo ever..
Constructive criticism…. Quit telling your partner what they will like or hate… give an honest review… I seen Lynyrd Skynyrd three times before the plane crash and I’m about to turn 70 years old and I still go to several concerts every year! The modern Lynyrd Skynyrd with Ronnie’s younger brother singing is touring with ZZ Top in 2024 and I have my tickets already for the Huntsville Alabama concert. My first ever concert was July 4, 1974 and it was ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd so I guess I’m making a circle here 🤣🤣
Never, ever, stop a guitar solo of any kind. It is sacrilege and an unwritten rule of reaction videos. We will follow you but we will not put up with that nonsense. Guitar solos are the meat and potatoes of rock songs. And you never interrupt them EVER !!! Bye the way, the people in the background are friends, guests, and roadies that set-up and take care of the stage and sound equipment.
This song is good,a bit long, but good. The best thing with this though is the amazing feeling you get from the music video, the shots of the audience, the powerful fun atmosphere and interraction from the audience to the band and the song...
Seriously dude SHUT UP! She said she was liking it. Why do you keep talking her into hating it?! It's hard to get into the vibe of a song if you keep pausing it every 30 seconds too. Not just this reaction but the other 5 or 6 I've watched. Good luck. P.S. She wanted to jump on the couch by the end, just think if you didn't pause it and let it build.
I couldn't enjoy your reaction to this Epic Classic. My goodness you kept stopping so often, that you couldn't enjoy the flow of this beautiful piece of music. You should try listening to the song all the way thru, then go back and critique the song.
Bruh who pauses in the middle of a solo? What terrible timing And...we'll never see a rebel flag backdrop again? Someone has never seen Ryan Upchurch. Also, southern rappers use a rebel flag backdrop too. Hell, lil wayne uses one ALOT

Right on sister! I was 16 in '77 myself.
@@daleginaplemons1984 Its a great club to be in!!
We dont talk during the solo, we dont pause during the solo, we dont do the solo with our mouth when we are showing it to another person. :(
Decent reaction guys two rules when listening to Lynard Skynyrd. First never ever pause an Allen Collins guitar solo. Second see the first rule
Haha I agree
That was once a capital offense in Alabama
That's a good one Paul, and to think that Allen Collins was only 18 years of age when he wrote this gem, btw, it took some time before Ronnie Van Zant came up with the lyrics to it.

🤣
@@freebirdtony sorry wrong abot the lyrics it only took roni abot 4 mins to write the words
I was proud to have seen Skynyrd four times before the crash...

And we're down to 2. :-(
Don't stop it on the best guitar solo of all time!!!!!

Great choice. One of the best live performances ever recorded.
I prefer the Knebworth version.
I'm trying to figure out how the lovely lady here is able to watch/listen to this masterpiece and just sit there. Is she from this planet? 😳
Without UA-cam it would be impossible to explain to the younger generation what it was like . It’d be as if it never happened
She may be listening to everyone auto tuned today. Back then there wasn’t autotuning so singers then had to have talent.
Also Ronnie had to sing near Gary because of the loud crowds. He couldn't hear himself & wanted to sing in time
just love watching someone who cant shut a up and let the other person enjoy the experience without telling them watch this....watch this.....
HE RUIN THE REACTION
Thank you for reacting to Lynyrd Skynyrd. This is the finest live performance that I've ever witnessed, be it in person or on video.

I was there and 15 and high lol
Epic live performance! Love Skynyrd! Greatest Southern Rock Band if all time! Try Tuesday's Gone & That Smell...
Very sad day October 20,1977 RIP Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines, Dean Kirpatrick
They were the best ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm only playing this because I have to stay awake for 20 m minutes to get my laundry out the apartment dryer. Let's Go!

Try Eddie Van Halen Eruption for a guitar solo. Eddie was a trained in classical music and brought a lot of that to his solo and general playing.
Yes Ronnie we still remember you...
I agree this is their best live performance.
The best live band...ever.
Ain't Nothin' Wrong with DIXIE!
Yes they still tour as skyard on tour this year I went to their first come back tour sounds ok live but their album music is so-so
Your half ritee,Knebworth England , backed up the Stones, 25000 , Ronnie blew the stones away, not allowed on the tongue ❤❤😂🎉😢😮😮😅
This Kids is SOUTHERN ROCK AT ITS FINEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have her listen to the live version from their live album, Another One From the Road. Its cleaner sounding but still a fantastic live version.
It’s actually called “One More From The Road” (the album)…but you’re right about it being fantastic.
Love skynard saw them five times they are great
Billy Powell played piano on Kid Rock's - All Summer Long

probably a $5 ticket behind the stage, "obstructed view"!
T for Texas, I Need You, Travellin Man. LIVE 1976. Thanks!!

She’d be the chick at 14:54 in the yellow shirt not vibing at all with it
That's the band in the back packing up freebird was always the last song
There's are not more original members of the band left... It ended in 1977. The tribute band played on until Gary died.
the song is not great, it's the jam at the end that everyone is waiting for!
this is all i heard in high school , 1970's!
Steve & Cassie Gaines died and they were the Gaines's only children. Their mother died in a car crash not far from their graves
Lot of moms and grandmas went to bone town that night
the ressean for that is there was no AutoTune in 1977 and there were no earplugs they used what was called BlowBack Speakers so some times the instuments may sound lauder

The people in the back are the Roadies.
It was windy as it could be that day at in Oakland. If you were in the middle you could barely hear them.
Hosts please redo this without interruption!
the 2 leads were playing the soame solo just in defferent key
This days are over 😢😢😢😢
It was different in the 70's
Must be fun living with her. I wonder what music she likes?
So what does she consider a great song? Since this song is "not bad"
sounds like a harmonica because you have no base coming through
the best parts are the 2 big changes that happen
Listen to the weeknd's Lonely star, Wanderlust, Life of the party, The Birds Pt1, The Birds pt2, Til Dawn (here comes the sun). !! 🖤

It would be more accurate, I believe, to call it a guitar duo
Polished you mean autotuned.she doesn't listen to music she listens to singers.
Had to give it a thumbs down. Never pause a guitar solo. And she said she didn't like guitar solos before even hearing it.
Grandmas? Guess what, we were young like you are now. You will be grandmas someday, wake up!
Haha hopefully we make it that far

A harmonica??? Stop pausing so much...pisses people off.
Shut up and just listen! It's the greatest song ever!
only 2 are left
Never pause that solo
MCA I suspect scheduled that plane
Nowadays people get triggered over the American Flag. Back then people didn't get so triggered and have a meltdown over things like flags.
Live! nothing like this today !...
She's your wife..gf? She's cute as a button. She's almost as beautiful as this song. Idk either your names but...this is a great pick
You should react to billie jean 1988
Chris Cornell covering Billie Jean is fucking amazing!

Stay on the Trailer park and try to find the 5th grade.
You guys would be better if you had a nice hot bowl of shut it stew while the video is playing.
stop turning vidio off let young lady listen to it
The guy needs to SHUT up and let her listen
Hot Grandma's
