    WOW!! Finally a viewing for me (and I'm sure A lot of others), I don't get to get out on the water as much as others (so I forget some the settings), this is awesome for me. Also it's in plain English. Some of the mistakes (or so he says) Davis has made I also have made, some more than others. Thanks for all the tips and showing what to do.

    That video I just watched I think was one of the best tips & info that you have done!!! Awesome awesome video!! Thanks for all the good info & not trying to pack so much in one video!! One thing I would like to no is what do crappies actually look like on the sonar & no that it’s not a bass or catfish & so on???

    Keep in mind that your waypoint location is established by your gps position, not the transducer position. In my case, the gps is 11 feet in front of the transducer. If you approach your waypoint from the opposite direction from which it was set, you won't see the object or structure when you are on the waypoint. The structure previously marked will be 11 feet in front of the gps unit. I always try to approach waypoint from same direction that it was established. To solve this, you can place a point one above your transducer.

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  4 роки тому +1

      i assume you're referring to an external GPS puck, if you do not have a puck located on your boat the gps postion comes from the internal gps chip in the unit. Your are correct that the waypoint will be ahead of the transducer when approaching from different angle.

      Flopping Crappie any chance you could talk about this some more I’ve recently mounted my Helix 3gn and planning on mounting a external GPS receiver and heading sensor right about mid ship on my boat and trying to get all of these functions in my brain I’ve been out several times fishing and. I’m having issues trying to get on my way points it’s actually easier with my handheld then with the unit on the boat

    Davis love your videos I have a question. I have a helix 7 down imaging with GPS no side imaging which way does it show the structure right to left or as I run over it. I know that's probably a stupid question but if it shows a drop off coming right to left how would I turn to run down the drop off? Thanks

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 років тому +1

      Not an stupid question at all. I was planning on filming a video on this, but from what I can see in the down imaging view, the structure on the bottom of the screen is slightly on the right side of the boat. The structure towards the top of the screen is to the left side of the boat. As for trying to run down the drop off, if your using 2d sonar and see the drop off, you could turn left or right to run the edge. The GPS is very useful for this because once you find the drop off at a certain depth contour, you can boat along that same contour on your GPS map

  • @mulespur4806

    As soon as a brush pile comes in a 0 on the right of screen and throw marker right at the back of the boat? Bouy marker for vertical jigging for crappie.

    There's a setting to set the transducer to both 83 and 200Khz at the same time. Would there be a reason not to use both?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 років тому +3

      I was saving this topic for another video. I actually found a really good use for the 83/200khz setting when you pair it with the Fish ID system. I haven't filmed the video yet (broker my trailer coming back from Texas), but it should be out in the next two weeks.

    Quick question, got in a hurry and put my transducer on the left side instead of right side, does that really make that big of a difference if I'm trolling from the front and transducer mounted on the rear?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 років тому +1

      No, but if you try to find your jig/lure on the sonar, just remember to jig on the left side of the boat.

    I’m debating between a helix 10 g2n or a helix 9 g3n for about the same price. Actually the 10 is a bit cheaper. Larger screen or newer generation? What’s your opinion? Thanks!

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 років тому

      Well the helix 10 g2n has mega imaging (1.075-1.15Mhz) the helix 9 gen has mega imaging plus (1.2Mhz). From the pictures i see on the humminbird website the mega plus has more definition and clarity

      Here is a video i made on how to tie this setup. The only cons would be it can be difficult to feel softer bites, and if you're fishing brush piles there's a higher chance of getting snagged. ua-cam.com/video/8M1d7n0y0Bg/v-deo.html

    Hate these units..all of them. Too hard to use. Instructions suck. I ripped all them from my boat. Its money making scheme.

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  4 роки тому +1

      They do require some time on the water to get familiar with them. I wouldn't call it a money making "scheme" since the product does display fish/structure once the settings are dialed in. I have a number of other sonar videos that might help with the setup/use of these units in (How to use fish finder) playlist on my channel.
