This video is in my top 3 favorite videos you've made. Would love to have more instructions on how we can utilize our gear (e.g., 2d sonar) to the fullest!
Great video into explaining the how to's ,setting-up and your plan of attack into what you have on your screen. Hope to see many more like these on the water teaching methods methods
Appreciate the simplicity this episode suggests. Thank you for the detail.
Yes please do some shallow dirty water lakes!
Great stuff Randy. Would love to see more 2D is all I use as well.
I’m happy to see a pro fisherman use regular sonar instead of video game fishing I think technology is going to hurt fishing you don’t need expensive electronics or equipment to have fun and catch bass
This is one your best videos. Plus you had some family time 👍 sharing this one.
Real time explaination.
Kept my attention.
Great Video, one of your best! Although I enjoy everything you do!👍👍
Love my Solix with SI for locating fish/cover and my 360 Imaging for accurately fishing it. When fishing deep I'll run my 2D and Down Imaging as it really helps confirms what you're looking at.
Another great topic. You really nailed it with this one. 2 D is all I have (and need) out of my kayak. Thanks Randy.
Love the way you showed the shoreline as you were describing the sonar. Hope you do more videos like this.
Good stuff I really enjoyed this video can't wait to get some more information on this. One of the guys in our club just got forward facing sonar and I thought that this was a good time to bring this up never used it before he's had it for a few weeks and him and I are good friends and I have beat him to our last three times on the water out of my boat with 2D and down imaging and his comment was c forward facing sonar doesn't magically put bass in the boat there is a learning curve to it. And before any of the Karen's on here start whacking me over the head I didn't say that livescope doesn't catch fish what I'm saying is that they're definitely it's not magic it takes time and dedication to using it and understanding how to use it before it puts fish in the boat. Good stuff Randy
This was the best and most understandable sonar explanation I have ever seen. Thank you Randy!
This is the content we need and miss seeing
Great stuff. Definitely do more like this Randy. Thanks.
You need to do more on the water videos. Really enjoying your channel.
Now that's a good video
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise! Your videos have helped me get more fish on the dinner plate and I really appreciate your willingness to post them.
Very informative. I like to see this kind of information for people like me who don’t want to spend big money for electronics.
You explaining all this now I know what I’m doing wrong , thanks again mr Randy
Great video. I learn something on every video you make. Been bass fishing for over 40 years but I feel like I am just starting. Starting to put things together now. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me. I will continue to watch and learn.
.
This is the most simple cut and dry explanation of this and I’ve watched a bunch trying to get better at using mine.
Thanks for sharing this. Very good.
Good video Randy, my graphs have never looked like that good with arcs...I've seen other videos where guys say you have to be at speed (20+mph) to get arcs, anything slower and you get long spaghetti looking lines not arcs but you was at idle speed, I'm sure your electronics is a lot better than mine. I think another good video to do would be to expand on this one, show the same thing but drop way points on fish and structure and show how to circle back and cast to them along with different type presentations.
If you are moving even at slow speeds you should see arches.
Great video Randy. Good content
Thank you for your knowledge and your commitment to educate fishermen!
Good stuff Randy. Will be waiting for the shallow water version of this video. Keep up the good work.
Great video Randy. I fish out of a kayak and never really thought about matching my scroll speed to the speed I'm moving. Also never really understood how going parallel to a steep bank would look on my sonar. It all makes a lot more sense now. I've watched a ton of fish finder videos and you taught me more in this short video than most of the others combined. Thank you sir.
I've seen guys out fish everyone with a flasher. I do feel that a good chart plotter like Navionics and a good 2 D sonar is really helpful
You are right about 2d working. The only difference is the forward facing allows you to move on if no fish are seen. Your 13th finish may have been a top 5 if you could have eliminated fishless spots faster and, therefore, get more total cast in for the day where forward facing sonar is showing fish.
Randy first of all I love your channel! Keep up the good work! Having said that I must disagree with you. Side imaging is the best for finding cover , mapping creek channel and overall finding places where bass would hang out. Mega 360 is absolutely awesome for fishing those places! Last two trips out I’ve caught 55.66 pounds off shore using these tools in a month that’s arguably the hardest month to catch fish.
The tip about matching scanning speed to your boat speed was very helpful!
Thanks for the info Randy. Love how you explain it on the same graphs I have. Great vid
Excellent video ! We need more of these
Thanks Randy! That helps me to better understand my sonar and what I'm seeing!
Good stuff!! Looking forward to more similar topics.
Thanks! Much awaited content! 👊
Awesome stuff Randy! As a dedicated kayak fisherman, I’m always looking for tips that can apply to the kayak style as well..
Thx Randy this was immensely helpful! Looking forward to more teaching on using 2-D, and maybe a little Side-imaging for us guys that can't spend $3500 on sonar
Very informative and helpful. Looking forward to seeing your video of 2D from the trolling motor.
Love these on the water teaching lessons.
I would love to see more 2d sonar videos. That would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks Randy. Great stuff. I need more of this stuff
Awesome info, Randy! Thanks!
These on the water tutorial videos are the best.
Well worth discussing thanks randy, thanks for the video
Thanks Randy, I love your simple video, I'm not technical enough to understand all the stuff that is out there. I can do 2d sonar okay. Thanks again
Such a refreshing and needed take on today's electronics , thanks Randy
yes chef thiyght 21 ceñtry hunn be ready fir teçggg if ²2 cebrry tech gid ajway çhase after teçkggy
Looking forward to the future video!!! Kinda goes in hand with the low tech hammers video!
That was excellent. I haven't got into electronics because I didn't know where to start and didn't want to buy a bunch of gear because someone is endorsed and has to promote it. Thanks for sharing your opinions.
This was great video, can't wait for the in depth video, all I have is 2d and I love it,it still catches fish thanks for sharing
I definitely would be interested in more of these!
Great stuff sir.
Thank you Randy for the 2D tips.
Great content, Randy!
Great info Randy!
Great video Randy!
Thanks Randy. Very helpful.
Always informative, thanks
If you would have spent the $1500 on forward facing sonar you might be on the elite series right now.
Awesome this is exactly what I needed to see!!!
I look forward to your next similar video on dirty water. I fish lakes within a couple of hundred miles of Houston and many have 18 inches or less of visibility. I really appreciate your instruction. Thx
This is great Randy, I really got a lot out of this!
Good stuff Randy!
Would like to see some of your 2D techniques in shallow water.
I would too!
@@Geometricjames Me too!
Same here!
Depending on the cone angle of the transducer, you may only see a very small portion of the bottom in shallow water. I used to have the (cone angles vs. depth vs. how much of the bottom is scanned) memorized, but no more. so I'm just going to suggest an estimate With a 16 degree angle in 5 ft water the transducer may only scan a 1.5 foot circle of the bottom that would double at 10 foot and so on and so forth. A 22 degree or a 60-degree transducer cone angle would see more of the bottom. This applies to 2D sonar and to some extent down Imaging. I would recommend Side Imaging, and I find Mega 360 to be awesome in water 20 feet or less. You can see stumps, dead falls, rocks, fish in great detail. Even if I had a kayak, if I could put a 360 on it I would do it. It'll probably work in deeper water but I "usually" don't fish that deep. There were some older H Bird control heads called Wide Optics that supported a transducer with three heads, one shooting left, 1 center, 1 right that gave a wider picture of the bottom and showed what side of the boat fish were you on. But Mega Side Imaging is sooooo much better than that older technology. I hope this helps answer some of your question.
@@guyb5333 It does. Lots of shallow water here in FL. I mainly use side imaging, but generally turn it off while fishing. I think the ping spooks the fish sometimes and as you say you only get a small spot anyway. I won't be getting the active target or anything. I dont think I'd enjoy video game fishing. I'm kind of old school.
Not only can they see them on live scope they can see how they react to baits in real time which can be key! I finally started using down scan on my 5” screen at front of the boat and it has helped a ton! Finding weed lines, depth , temperatures, structure, not sure why I never used it, lol..
This is the best. Thank you! Some of us don't want to spend a fortune on live scope, etc.
I would really like another video on how you tell what fish are bass and not and why. I always thought that if you could see bait fish and had decent sized arches and those arches were more horizontal with a little bit of space it would be a good idea to fish. But a couple areas on your graph I thought were bass you said were catfish or carp. I think a lot of people would really benefit on 2d sonar tutorial how and why you fish areas and don’t. Thanks Randy for the video interesting.
Excellent video. Thanks
This is great! Do more!
Gold Randy........absolute gold
Would love to see a good in depth tutorial on this using the the sonar on the trolling motor as that how I use mine the most. Lakes near me are small, not on the big motor all that much. Keep up the great videos!!
nice job keep up good work
I've caught so many more fish from watching Fish the Moment, Matt Stefan, and Randy's videos.
Same! Plus TacticalBassin and Tyler's Reel Fishing.
same...
Randy that's awesome please do some more videos on that subject
Great video
great stuff, BIG Help!!!
Excellent presentation. I’d like to see more on shallow depths that can relate to my kayak angling depth limitations.
Solid operation of your hummingbird! And personal insight and tackle selections for specific application! I'd dropshot that tree and hope to get bit. Had trout at 62 ft 1 time I got a few that day before I knew anything bout the drop shot but to tie it.great video Randy!
Excellent! 👍
Now all they need is instructions on how to find and catch fish with less than a 20ft. boat with a 250 outboard, and 36v trolling motor. 😅
Thanks for this one thanks so much
Randy, I don't think you need 2D at all. You should just use a flasher unit. The printout one. Then do a video proving that you only need a flasher unit!
Well said. I dont know if i want to get after Randy or not ? He is just wrong on this one.
I just use a real long stick in my shallow lakes. No need to waste the money plus the sensitivity on the stick is second to none lol.
I want to see more of this for sure
Awesome video bud
Really liked this video
Thank you! Thank you! This video really helped me! Please post another indepth follow up!
Nice info. I may disagree on the overall sentiment but I can still appreciate a different perspective and this info will definitely be useful if do find myself using 2d.
Great Video!! 2-D sonar is a great tool. I still like a Flasher Unit better . The biggest difference is the flasher is real time info and the 2-D sonar is history. I sure wish that Humminbird would bring back their Super Sixty style units it was pretty much a vertical livescope.
MORE OF THIS!👍👍
Impressive AOY results with just 2D!!!
Please do more 2d stuff, that's awesome, it's more of my pace
thank you very much
I like this!
Good lookin family you got there
Set the scroll speed the same speed your going. First time I ever heard that. Thank for the tip
Love the information - Enjoyed! Look forward to the next more in-depth 2D video. How would you fish the drop shot you referred to a couple times in video?
Thank you
That was amazing! I would love to see more like this 👍
Plz plz do more 2d stuff
