[1:39] On Mother Teresa: "This returns us to the medieval corruption of the church, which sold indulgences to the rich while preaching hellfire and continence to the poor. MT was not a friend of the poor. She was a friend of poverty. She said that suffering was a gift from God. She spent her life opposing the only known cure for poverty, which is the empowerment of women and the emancipation of them from a livestock version of compulsory reproduction. And she was a friend to the worst of the rich, taking misappropriated money from the atrocious Duvalier family in Haiti (whose rule she praised in return) and from Charles Keating of the Lincoln Savings and Loan. Where did that money, and all the other donations, go? The primitive hospice in Calcutta was as run down when she died as it always had been-she preferred California clinics when she got sick herself-and her order always refused to publish any audit. But we have her own claim that she opened 500 convents in more than a hundred countries, all bearing the name of her own order. Excuse me, but this is modesty and humility?" Original sin isn't exclusive to theism. The secular arguements for abortion also revolve around original sin aswell. Callers, the rules for these livestream debates are pretty simple. (Of course, DZ can correct me if I'm inaccurate)
The Simple Rules:
1) DZ's livestream, DZ's rules. You absolutely cannot come on here and dictate to DZ what the rules are.
2) DZ will allow you to flesh out your argument as long as:
a) You don't interrupt him
b) If he asks you a direct question, you give him a direct answer. And DZ reserves the right to interrupt you as often as he sees fit until you give him a direct answer to his direct question.
c) Don't do mental gymnastics and be disingenuous.
[1:39] On Mother Teresa:
"This returns us to the medieval corruption of the church, which sold indulgences to the rich while preaching hellfire and continence to the poor. Excuse me, but this is modesty and humility?"

@shanehaddix8021 Theists will claim that if Jesus had admitted to not being the Messiah, his life would have been spared, hence sticking to his claim cost him his life. Still not very convincing though IMO. Besides, he came alive again and got to be god for eternity, which is quite the payday.

The message said he keeps using the word "distinction" and it didn't mean what he thot. "Distinction" was the word he's referring to.
Justin I was glad to hear you quote Jesus on the word "soon". I've argued many times that the NT could not have been more clear about the imminent return in the lifetime of the authors. The time is at hand, behold I come quickly, little children it is the last hour, the last days, we who are alive and remain, this generation, some standing here shall not taste death, etc. It's all right there. Even without leading it on, chatgpt will freely admit that Jesus made a distinction between the oral law and written law. It is a point that it will almost always bring up when asking about The Talmud. It will give you a breakdown of what it is, and then tell you how it relates to Christianity, with that section explaining the distinction. If a chat ai that is literally known to show preference to the religious side of the argument can acknowledge this, it’s kind of crazy that the second debater couldn’t. Especially when you read the verses to him and he claimed it was an argument from silence, literally the opposite of what you did.
So is the critisism of christianity with these biblical arguements suposed to be that you're upset that christians aren't bound to the biblical laws, but you believe they should be? .... even though you feel those biblical laws are abhorrent?

I may be incorrect, but my understanding of mother Theresa is that she tried to help people, yes, but she thought the best way to help people was to help them suffer. It's a warped mindset, but if you think the best way to help someone's soul (which is a figment of your imagination best we can tell) is to help them to suffer as much as possible; are you actually helping anyone?
Andrea Yates thought she was helping her children. Have yet to meet anyone who thinks she was good for what she did. But she hasn't been canonized, either. I'm sure if she was the theist opinion of her would change in a heartbeat.
Teresa was also a hypocrite. She thought that OTHER people had to suffer to make them better in their souls, but she got the best medical treatment at the time.

@@gregsanich5183 Empathy is NOT an emotion. It’s the ability to understand and respond to the experience of another, which possibly includes feeling their emotions.

Wes huffed is an apologist first and foremost. He does seem to have a PHD or is studying for one, and it does have some relevance but given his internet persona, the strange and disjointed infographics, and dubiousness of their contents: his expertise should be questioned.
I don’t buy his credibility surrounding his own medical condition. 1/3 of people diagnosed with acute transverse myelitis experience a full recovery within a few months of diagnosis: it isn’t a miracle, and just because he claims a doctor called it a miracle first, doesn’t make it one. There are so many Christian miracle healing stories and none of them ever pass the bar.
Blind faith. Absolute stupidity.
Why would anyone gaf about what the Israelites did or thought?

We all know how easy it is to make the bible say whatever you want just by ripping verses out of context, while claiming the other person is reading it out of context. However, what guys like this can't interpret away is the fact that it was interpreted as condoning and regulating slavery for about 3200 years, and then suddenly, right about the time of the industrial revolution (go figure,) it started being an issue. Why is that?
From not even 200 years ago.... _Let the gentleman go to Revelation to learn the decree of God - let him go to the Bible. . . .
