FYI: if you're quoting, say, Sanhedrin 81a from the Babylonian Talmud, you're referring not to a chapter, but to a page. Each page of the Talmud has two sides, a and b, which are numbered from 2a with each new tractate. The Mishna, on the other hand, does have chapters (Sanhedrin, for example has 11 chapters), but not page numbers, so a Mishnah reference would look like Sanhedrin 4:1. The page numbering in each tractate of the Talmud- which combines both Mishna and Gemara- is continuous across all of the chapters, and Talmudic passages are cited according to these page numbers.
49:00 “But magically, when we get to verse 16, we’re just going to call it a prophecy. But you wouldn’t do that with anything else.” Of course he would. I’d bet money that he’d do it with Isaiah 7:14 and Zechariah 9:9 at the very least.
One of my favorites is Isaiah 49:8 (source Sefaria) Thus said GOD: In an hour of favor I answer you, And on a day of salvation I help you- I created you and appointed you a covenant people- Restoring the land, Allotting anew the desolate holdings “I created you and appointed (anointed) you a covenant people.” Jesus isn’t a “people”… Israel is. If this is about Jesus, then Jesus was a being/people created by god… ergo not eternal… ergo not god. When Christians claim Jesus is the servant , they’re claiming Jesus is a plurality created by god… ergo not god. Christians: How is the Messiah (a single king who isn’t divine) also a plural servant created by God, but also God who created himself to serve himself while ruling himself after anointing himself? Pure gibberish. The same occurs in Isaiah 53 where if you insert Jesus (who’s also supposedly God and messiah)… the result makes no sense: Isaiah 53:4 Indeed, he bore our illnesses, and our pains-he carried them, yet we accounted him as plagued, smitten by God and oppressed. If this is about Jesus, then it’s saying God oppressed and smote himself. It also says God can be ill and plagued. Isaiah 53:8 From imprisonment and from judgment he is taken, and his generation who shall tell? For he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the transgression of my people, a plague befell them. The last word is “them.” In Christian bibles this reads “He” or “Him.” Them refers to Israel… Christianity changed it to “He/Him” to make it appear as the verse is about Jesus. Isaiah 53 is written in past tense plural… it’s literally impossible to a prophecy, let alone a prophet out Jesus who was born >540 years later. Isaiah 53:10 And the Lord wished to crush him, He made him ill; if his soul makes itself restitution, he shall see children, he shall prolong his days, and God's purpose shall prosper in his hand. If the servant is Jesus then this reads: “And the Lord wished to crush himself, he made himself ill.” It also mentions the servant will have long life and bear many offspring… Jesus had zero offspring and died at age ~30. There’s more issues when you read 53:11-12 but this comment is long enough.

For example, if I make my character say "Do or do not...there is no try." there's nothing being fulfilled; I'm just plagiarizing.

God confused languages so we may not understand one another’s speech. So here we are debating what the Bible says because of translations from different languages. If god wanted all mankind to know him, he would have given us one language so his message wouldn’t be ambiguous. Instead, we have over a thousand different Christian religions claiming to know what god said. Confounding languages makes no sense if you want to communicate a message to save souls.
Given it's generally accepted that the book of John was not written until the very late 1st century or early 2nd century, it seems highly unlikely the disciple John contributed to it in any way, shape, or form.
Why? If John was in his 20s like most traveling disciples of the time and that was around 30AD, then at 90AD he would have been in his 80s. Seems like a stretch to say that he was unlikely to have written or contributed to the Gospel attributed to him.
@@JavaAndroid thank you for showing your misunderstanding of history. That would be the average age when you factor in infant mortality. It was not uncommon for people to live into their 70-80s.
It's chronologically possible for John to have written the Gospel, but the authorship is unclear due to *John 21:24,* which refers to John in the third person (which means it was written by someone else).
@@Christian-l8k OK. It is generally accepted that John was written somewhere in the range 90-110CE. You've chose the absolute earliest 90AD. Then you've made John the youngest possible age at the crucifixion without painting Jesus as a paedophile. Then you've stretched the limits of possible lifespan for wealthy Romans of that time and applied that to John, a poor uneducated fisherman (according to the author of Acts) under persecution.... knowing that the poor then, like now, have significantly lower lifespans. Against those odds you believe John was the author? Writing in highly educated Greek, a language he did not speak? How many pretzels do you want to turn yourself into? The book of John is clearly anonymous, and is only attributed to the disciple John because of church tradition. It is written by authors who clearly are NOT John. It is written in the third person, and never in the first person as a true witness would do. All 3 of the synoptic gospel authors wrote extensively about the transfiguration of Christ. Not one of thise are claimed to be witnesses. Yet John who was claimed to be a witness forgot to mention it? Seriously? John saw Jesus' clothing light up like lightning, saw Elijah and Moses talking with Jesus, heard Yahweh talk to him (John) from the clouds, was terrified by this... and then forgot to mention any of it? How gullible do you have to be to swallow this?
So frustrating to listen to your callers fumbling so hard to deny what is right there in the text. Don’t know how you aren’t banging your head on the desktop after five minutes of it. But this is showing the exact tactic of what the preachers and priests do…they jump around in the text taking bits out of context to weave together a false narrative that supports the point they want to make. My parents were Ukrainian orthodox, but when we moved when I was a toddler they started attending a local Catholic Church. By six years old, the inconsistencies of the most basic Bible stories were enough to hurt my brain and I started sneaking out of services. The folks quit going not long after, but later my mom fell into Southern Baptist. I went with her a couple of times as an adult just so she wouldn’t have to go alone…felt sorry for her. The pastor got into his sermon and he had this huge group of people flipping around their Bibles so fast for a sentence here and a “proof” there, that no one could keep up, let alone actually read context or even think about what he was saying. As an outside observer, it was clear it was purposeful manipulation and that it was in part to make the congregation feel like they COULDN’T understand the Bible correctly without the guidance of someone to tell them what it said, and what it “actually” meant. Only at the very end of her life, did my mom finally start to examine her belief system and the very narrow and manipulated interpretations of the SBC. Oddly, it was Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday that made a dent into the brainwashing. The variety of guests opened cracks in the narrative.
It’s annoying seeing the caller have a smug & cringe laugh as if this is a joke without real world implications on people who don’t believe the same nonsense he does. I feel this caller is the kind that no matter how bad the Bible is or contradictions it has he will find a way to spin it & dishonestly change what is said to continue believing. Some people just refuse to drop the god belief due to being cowardly and indoctrinated beyond help.
Even every answer from believers will be it’s cuz FREEWILL, then if YOU have the POWER to acknowledge beforehand a certain One by his freewill will do a most worse thing like crime or war, don’t YOU as human with power and heart want to STOP that worse thing to occur or happen! Why let that One (human) do whatever worst thing he wants cuz it’s FREEWILL, for a GOD (that should have a heart) KNOWING innocents (especially little ones) will be VICTIMS by it😢And the fact of Bible is, “most prophecy” (like in Ezekiel or others) is about future wars this book God wanted to accomplish that involved innocent little ones to be punished too😮
Haha why would a writer of a gospel speak of himself in the third person and then say that he knows it’s true in the third person? If you are the writer obviously you know it to be true.
Why would you let your life be guided by a bronze age book with genocide, slavery and misogony where everything is about interpretation and/or context? The logical stretching is baffling.
53:16 Holy irony batman. Literally the whole point is your prophecy is all clumsy! All the ones that have "come true" are things that CAN apply to more than one event or person, quite easily by the way, and don't directly indicate anything because they use metaphor or poetic language. That's not a prophecy. However when Justin points out exactly what you're doing, suddenly it's "clumsy" and not exact enough. And his counter evidence to your claims have to be word for word exact passages with robust historical evidence to disprove your points. I'd love to say you're honestly approaching this and these are advanced topics that require time to explain why you're wrong.... But the fact is, the mistakes you're making are so simple and such basic mistakes in your thinking and reasoning that they almost don't require refutation. Ya'll get lost in the sauce with all this advanced level textual criticism and study, yet the mistakes you're making are like super basic fallacies that are just shy of common sense.

The same occurs in Isaiah 53 where if you insert Jesus (who’s also supposedly God and messiah)… the result makes no sense:
Isaiah 53:4
Indeed, he bore our illnesses, and our pains-he carried them, yet we accounted him as plagued, smitten by God and oppressed.
If this is about Jesus, then it’s saying God oppressed and smote himself. It also says God can be ill and plagued.
Isaiah 53:8
From imprisonment and from judgment he is taken, and his generation who shall tell? For he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the transgression of my people, a plague befell them.
The last word is “them.” In Christian bibles this reads “He” or “Him.” Them refers to Israel… Christianity changed it to “He/Him” to make it appear as the verse is about Jesus.
Isaiah 53 is written in past tense plural… it’s literally impossible to a prophecy, let alone a prophet out Jesus who was born >540 years later.
Isaiah 53:10
And the Lord wished to crush him, He made him ill; if his soul makes itself restitution, he shall see children, he shall prolong his days, and God's purpose shall prosper in his hand.
If the servant is Jesus then this reads:
“And the Lord wished to crush himself, he made himself ill.”
It also mentions the servant will have long life and bear many offspring… Jesus had zero offspring and died at age ~30.
There’s more issues when you read 53:11-12 but this comment is long enough.
Has anyone explained what fulfilling the law means, and as an extension, how could we fulfill the seatbelt law so that you can’t get a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt?

If I go out and write some Star Wars jedi fan fiction, and I reference things Yoda said and give my new protagonists those attributes, or ascribe similar stories to those found in the original trilogy to that character, I'm not making any predictions. For example, if I make my character say "Do or do not...there is no try." there's nothing being fulfilled; I'm just plagiarizing.

True! I think the "family" part was a reference to the "eternal life" part, i.e. you "live forever" through your descendants. (30:10)
@SaintD382 What a curse on those descendants if one is full of hate.

@@Christian-l8kWhen the average age of death was 35? Wow, your coping is very strong.
Lonely, lonely people.
All the effort they put in to be wrong...
Imagine what they could accomplish with that poorly spent energy.
Dang! Ouch!
If you need to interpret every word of a book so that it means something else than what it actually says, then maybe that book is not your deal
How can i tell who a prophet is? Who was the last prophet? Nostradamus?
😡 Stop ruining my beliefs with your blasted facts!! 🤬
Does this caller consider himself educated on this material?
He can't understand the concept of "we." 1:02:30.
At 10.14 he mentions death angel thats no longer in the bible its been Mandela effected???!!!!!!
If God was real and wanted you to believe why make it so hard to comprehend? Why make it so confusing and filled with contradictions?
'Cos he "works in mysterious ways". 🤣
Yeah what's up with Ezekiel ? I had a hippie bible back in the day. It even suggested it might be about flying sources.

God: all knowing, all powerful, but not great with money
Even every answer from believers will be it’s cuz FREEWILL, then if YOU have the POWER to acknowledge beforehand a certain One by his freewill will do a most worse thing like crime or war, don’t YOU as human with power and heart want to STOP that worse thing to occur or happen! Why let that One (human) do whatever worst thing he wants cuz it’s FREEWILL, for a GOD (that should have a heart) KNOWING innocents (especially little ones) will be VICTIMS by it😢And the fact of Bible is, “most prophecy” (like in Ezekiel or others) is about future wars this book God wanted to accomplish that involved innocent little ones to be punished too😮
English please.
The pronoun in Isaiah 52:14 is in the singular- כאשר שממו עליך. The plural would be עליכם.
Haha why would a writer of a gospel speak of himself in the third person and then say that he knows it’s true in the third person? If you are the writer obviously you know it to be true.
Or, rather, you think it’s true.
Why would you let your life be guided by a bronze age book with genocide, slavery and misogony where everything is about interpretation and/or context? The logical stretching is baffling.

If you squint just right it becomes "obvious"... lol
