The Florida Adventure Trail | Day Two - Still In Ocala!

- Опубліковано 6 лип 2024
- This is day two of our multi-part series showcasing the Florida Adventure Trail also known as the F.A.T. before its release on November 1st, 2022. The Florida Adventure Trail is roughly 1200 miles plotted throughout the state of Florida over the past several years by a gentleman named Jon Birkmire with Sunshine State Adventure Co. The Florida Adventure Trail combines off-road trails, scenic backroads, and drives through several small towns while minimizing the amount of highway and paved roads needed to travel on.
In day two we experience a full day of wheeling in the Ocala National Forest. Although we have spent a lot of time in Ocala, the F.A.T. still managed to take us through areas we had not yet been through. We can't wait to share it!
Important Note: Some changes have been made to the trail through Ocala since this pre-run and some of the tighter trails have been removed from the route which will make it more manageable to get through in a day.
The Florida Adventure Trail will be released for download on November 1st, 2022. Head over to www.floridaadventuretrail.com/ for more information! Use code vikings20 for 20% off the trail!

I'm just here to make sure everyone take a moment and show some respect for the ninja-level production quality exhibited at 14:41 with that chase shot. Amazing series overall!
What an awesome video! Thank you all so much for all you have done to capture how awesome this route is. You are appreciated!
Happy your enjoying them, we’ve been having a great time putting this series together! So thanks again for the opportunity ✌️😃
Great video series and thanks for the trail maintenance 🤘🏽👍🏽
You bet! Thanks for the compliment ☺️
Thanks for posting. I am looking forward to doing the FAT. waiting for that gpx file release in a couple of weeks.
Cool video, well put together!
Thanks, we appreciate your kind words ✌️😃
Awesome video guys as always! I'll just wait for dry season, too much water for my taste
🤿
When you were at Hopkins you were pretty close to this hole in the wall attraction out in Barberville slightly east of Hopkins. They have badass large lawn statues. If you do a youtube search for barberville statues you'll see. I pass by the place all the time heading to the beach.
Huh, never knew that was there. We will definitely have to check it out in person. Thank you for the info.
I’m going to do the FAT in October with my 6” lifted 1948 Jeep Willy overland truck.
We think October would be beautiful weather to do it!
that's some great footage of hopkins prairie
Thanks, we are happy you liked it. It was worth the extra effort!
Awesome video!
Thank you! Happy you liked it!
Loving your videos! Watching videos of the FAT, I do have a question, do you go through the crossing, set up the camera, and reverse the crossing to get it on video?
Y’all ever worry about the People Warnings in Ocala National Forest? I’ve heard some horror stories and have been strongly warned not to venture in. Just curious on y’all’s thoughts.
Please explain. I camp in Ocala 5 or 6 times a year. I’ve never run into anyone except other adventurers.
That said, my friends and I are always heavily armed with dog alarms, so I hope no one messes with us (for their sakes). 😉
We have herd of only a small amount of these horror stories, however never directly from the ones who encountered it. On most occasions, we can spend an entire day out in Ocala and only pass by a few other people. We think it’s important to be aware of surroundings and not present opportunity, have a plan and keep after your own safety. We’ve spent years trekking around Florida in the forests and have never had a bad experience ourselves that we didn’t create ourselves. don’t let it stop you from exploring ✌️😃
I’m starting to think 8.5” of ground clearance is not nearly enough to take on the F. A. T.
We apologize if this trail seems a bit crazier than we think it really it is, we began our F.A.T. trip probably at the most saturated time we could for the seasons of Florida. Also we want to assure you that realistically the only crazy trail area we ran into was the first day in Osceola National Forest. The wet section seen in this video was a marked hard trail that can be taken as an option if wanted and the main route stayed on a totally normal section of trail, the two then meet back up at the other end of the hard trail. As for all the other areas like the mud hole area there is enough space in that section to were if you wanted to avoid the mud holes you can navigate around them. If the right time year is chosen to take on the F.A.T. (February - April) before the rainy season, we feel you could accomplish it in a stock truck.
@@SunshineStateVikings oh cool. Thanks. I’m really excited to get the kids out of the noisy city and into the woods. I’m not trying to pretend I have a set up jeep etc. just want to get them into some trails and do some camping. I really would love for them to see Hopkins Prairie. Thanks again, your videos are great!
