Alright, let me pick your brain. This goes back around 30 years so my memory can’t put all the pieces back together. I lived in Ocala from ‘90-‘95. During that time a buddy took me fishing. We went south on 314 from 40, not too far. Maybe 5 miles or less and hit a trail that ran to the west. It was tight, hardly traveled and some switchbacks that made us do 4 point turns. We were in his ‘86 F250 with a 12’ Jon boat hanging out the back. We got to this little Lilly pad covered pond out in a clearing and hooked into some beautiful bass. But here’s where I need your help. Heading out we explored the area some more and we came up to a creek. There was an old abandoned bridge there and we threw lines in for a bit. I’m pretty sure it’s in that stretch on the southwest corner of 40 and 314 because I don’t remember hitting the hard top. I’d love to find that area again, so if you can offer any help, I’d appreciate it.
If anyone has an answer feel free, I have not been up that way. It could be the two creeks just south of Gores Landing. Cedar Creek or Dead river. So much has changed in what you can and can't drive anymore.
Everyone has the right to enjoy the forest. It's a great place for sure. Stay in touch with the forestry department in Ocala and partake in the forest clean up days . I'm a hunter that has grown up hunting in Ocala and raised my kids and now grandkids to respect the forest and help keep it clean. If you're riding during hunting season from November to January please respect the hunters 🙏. If you see hunters try to give us space and watch for our hounds while riding. I've personally had houndd run over by joy riders
Yes sir and well said. Been driving there since the early 90s and we have seen changes resulting from people who don't respect the environment. That the Scout coming out in me.
Most of the time we are on CB channel 12 but we also have some handhelds on the low end settings. GRMS works a lot better and an investment is overdue.
We will be working our way across the pan handle in October. it's called the Panhandle Adventure Trail another one by Vman1313 Adventures. sites.google.com/view/vman1313/home
Thanks for the video. You always provide such great info on the area you are traveling. It is a shame to see the natural habitat of the the river changed for a project that was just abandoned. 👍
Perhaps someday they will do the draw down and take make the spillway fish friendly. ua-cam.com/video/tbfirtLi8gQ/v-deo.html She has a good story to tell about growing up on the river.
Hedge trimmers are a good idea. Sugar sand is not always easy to drive in. I recently had to pull a neighbors Sahara out who thought that Sahara meant it was ok to drive in any sand. It was embarrassing when I had to pull him out 10ft off of the asphalt. He called 5 jeeps before calling me, I was the last one he wanted to call. I got a call at midnight, he asked if I still had my Raptor, I told him no, I bought a Bronco. I think it made it worse. I told him I'd bring my sxs if it made him feel better. The dam is refunded, they are waiting for it to destroy itself before they remove it (last I heard about it) they won't put funding into removing it so they jammed it open and are waiting for the gates to rust apart.
You gota make a choice... I like to explore too much to have to worry. Most will buff out, those that don't tell a story. Odd Todd's hopefully will open again. It was a highlight of each trip that way.

It’s an area called “steel bridge”. It’s on 314 just south of the entrance to Fore Lake.
When is the next jeep ride to ocala national forest? I want to get my florida badge
Not sure when the Orlando Jeep club has a ride in August-
I love the way you narrate you keep me ingaged with the video
Thank you. Finding Florida history one trail at a time.
@@FloridaJeepRides how does one get an invite to the next trail ride
In Jan I was in the area, I dove some of these roads.. I miss it I wish i had a jeep or a tacoma on the trail
There are a lot of trails to do in Ocala that cars can go down. ... and a lot that it would be a bit of a challenge. So much sugar sand.

Those tight trails suck big time!
Scratchy happens, I’m just not to fond of new windows getting damaged. We put them down and that helps.
@@FloridaJeepRides I understand, but I avoid those trails if possible.
Great video as always. What radios do you guys use? GMRS?

Thank you
Thanks Matt, another great video. I need to plan a trip to FL

@@FloridaJeepRides If you can, let me know when and I would love to join you. I used to live in FT Walton Beech years ago
A Itchy Scratchy kind of trail! Looking forward to going back up there. Love the Salt Springs area.
There is so much to explore in the area and we always find new things to visit.

I saw a video of a guy who made a trail trimmer with big blades on the sides of a trailer. No gas or battery needed.
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you
Matt, do you have a map track for this ride? I live in Ocala and would like to run it with some friends.

This is without the scratchy part. Just watch the small signs that indicate if Jeeps are allowed.
@@FloridaJeepRides thanks for the info.
You had some paint you didn't need anyway. Yeah buddy. That is a real shame about Odd Tacos. They are good people.

Great stuff! Did you air down at all for your ride through Ocala?
We did not, I just dropped it into 4 low for some of the sugar sand. It's better to airdown but this ride has some hwy time some I opted out.
