Taking Our Overland Rig Down This Trail In The Ozarks Did Not Go As Expected

Our second day exploring the Ozark St Francis National Forest we found ourselves taking a “shortcut” heading deeper into the forest in the direction we picked as our aim. Little did we know, this shortcut would end up taking us almost half the day to traverse and navigate. We carefully spotted our Toyota Tacoma Loki down the trail to stay safe and avoid any unnecessary damage. This was an incredible experience for us where we were able to put complete trust in one another to navigate this technical trail. We then took a much milder trail filled with beautiful creek crossings, water holes, and tree tunnels. These water holes were much less treacherous than we are accustomed to finding in Florida and we were thankful for that. After finishing the second trail we started our search for camp for the night where we found the perfect spot! As the temperatures dropped with the sun, we made a hearty soup to warm us up before ending off the night!

For us from Florida, it's so crazy to see a map and think I can go from one side of this forest to the other in an hour, then getting to a mountain area and it taking 4 hours to go down a mile trail lol. Yall did awesome! We got punched in the teeth in 2020 when we went to the Talladega National Forest, and it took us 6 hours to go 6 miles lol.
