    I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet, but you need to call out the seller! There's no doubt they knew the engine had a hole in it. They knew it didn't have an impeller either. A quick mention of those things while you were looking it over would have been the honest thing to do. He/she chose not to. They knew they were ripping you off. I'd contact them and let him/her know that you're not happy about it, and give them a chance to make it right. If they don't, blast the POS's info on your channel so everyone knows not to buy from that person! Help others out! Just my thoughts...

    You should definitely take the loss and try to sell what you can from it. No sense burning yourself out on a project that ends up like the surfboard and keeps giving you problem after problem. Hope the next project you find doesn't end up being so much of a headache! Glad to see you uploading more consistently again!

    Had a friend that worked at a Jetski rental business. They typically rob parts here and there off one bad ski to keep the rest running. At a certain point when the one bad ski has been robbed of all the valuable items or they decide to unload all the skis to buy new. The running skis are sold at a somewhat reasonable price and the bad ski/skis are sold off typically for parts but sometimes in a less than honest manner "jetski stopped running, don't know why" sort of listing to get more money.

    This is why I love your channel, most ordinary items that people would be scared of or see no value you take on as a challenge and try to fix it up! I get a lot of inspiration from your channel and get myself into projects that I probably shouldn’t have. At the end of the day if you part ways with the project or not, you still took a shot that no one else probably would have taken

    They crashed it on a rock up out of the water. Then left it running, burning up the motor. The rental company used it for parts on the rest of their fleet. Then they fiberglassed the hole and put together everything as well as they could to sell it off.

    No worries! Now can be an opportunity for you to learn how to ultimate rebuild a motor! It looks like it might only be the top end; I say pull the motor, remove the top end, and do what is necessary to look at the pistons and cylinders. If all is good then you just need to replace the top end and then move on with your original plan. You already own the motor so you might as well take it apart. Might could even bore out the cylinders and upsize the pistons.

    Only @5:19 in.. I think it's a great project for you.. From what I've seen you do in the past, this is definitely doable with your abilities. I'm here watching and so are many others. You do you.. We'll be here.. Ignore the haters, bro.. scan right over their comments and focus on what you want to do.. now.. back to the video!!.. lol.. CHEERS!!! (Update) Umm, yea.. hindsight is always 20/20. Learn from those mistakes and get better. Still, it hurts, yea.. but just focus on "what's next?". Don't dwell on the past. Keep moving forward. Heck, even flip a quarter on either keeping it or passing it on at a loss. You'd still be moving forward. Keeping it and waiting to find a busted shell with a good motor is a great idea if you're not needing to replenish some of the financial loss. Samcracs stepmom might help you out.... FINANCIALLY.. lol.. Ahh.. Corey.. ANYWHO.. great content!!.. Keep it up!!.. Later tater!!

    Hopefully the number one injector didn’t fry the ecu , that was my main problem with those 2019 2020 vx-c’s I run a watersports company here in Florida and haven’t seen one that bad in a while … the weird electric clicking sounds like your ignition coil is bad which is under the motor starboard side and those tr1 engines are normally pretty bullet proof

    I'd recommend picking ap a 90s Kawasaki 750 SS skis. I find them in my are in the $500 range and only need a little bit to get them going. You need to check the engine for compression and spark. If that's good you have a solid base to improve on. Lots of parts available. Any of the Kawasaki 650 or 750 skis are very easy to work on.

    @erikvandenavond Рік тому

    Was probably a rental and the motor blew so they used it as a parts ski. Any other part and it would have been worth fixing. The midshaft (driveshaft) was gone and they probably stole that out of this one for parts as sometimes they can leak or the bearing in them can blow. That is probably why the engine mount bolts were missing and you thought the engine was pulled. You don’t have to remove the engine to pull the midshaft but you have to unbolt the engine mounts and move the engine forward. Yamaha and Kawasaki design there skis different than seadoo and their drivetrains are completely different. (Seadoo is really the one that is different than the norm) getting a ski that was totaled for hull damage is probably your best bet. Can maybe find one at auction after hurricane. Either that or you might be able to recoup your loss parting it out if you have the time.

  • @valenzaplumbing

What I’ve found was if I get a junker I tear it all apart and post on facebook groups what parts are good and try to sell them there and eBay some off. The title would be worth something also if you got one with the ski. Sorry about the loss brother that’s definitely tough

    It would make the most sense to either sell it and try to take less of a loss, trailer might be the most valuable part of it all though. You could hold on to it and hope to find a wrecked one, but who knows how long that would take.
    That said, I think it would be interesting to make it electric, its more than likely not worth it, since you probably wouldn't make your money back still.

  • @thomasmeadors6548
    @thomasmeadors6548 Рік тому

    Jet Skis can become a money pit. I know. I bought two 1994 Polaris SLT 700's. The first year I had them they performed okay. You had to mix octane boost with the gas to get it up to around 93 octane for them to run good. The second year the seals went out. That wasn't the biggest problem. One that had the seals go out sank halfway and unknown to me the head cracked. I put $1k into it for new electrical parts before I found out the head was cracked. The other one ran okay but was cranky at best. I gave them away but kept the trailer which actually ended up being worth more than the skis anyway. I paid $2500 for both skis and trailer. When 2020 rolled around there was a shortage of new skis on the market because everyone went out and bought them during covid and there were no trailers to be had. I was offered $3500 for mine but kept it and bought two new SeaDoo Sparks. They fit right on the trailer and now I'm happy. Older skis are expensive to keep up, if you can find the parts and cranky like I said. I am much happier with my 4 strokes as opposed to the 2 strokes.

    I feel bad for you because I was sure at the very start the motor was shot or replaced with a bad motor as soon as you pointed out the motor mounts. The very next step now would be to check the hull for leaks. See if you want to continue further with it, and if you do find the hull satisfactory, then you can look into motor swaps. Potentially add in a totally different motor like a supped up straight four from a car or the like to just mess around with like the jet ski brothers and their LS swap on their ski. AKA Ultimate Rebuild the sucker.
