As I sat bedside next to my wife while she was dying from cancer this song came on the radio as she took her last breath on February 14th of 2003 i still can’t listen to the song without tearing up 21 years later

@tonyreaudio6579 No, unfortunately, those days are gone. The 80s were wild. The scene will never be matched again. The music, the party scene, the concerts, and the money that was made in the industry were phenomenal. Today, tours are being canceled because of the cost and not enough profits involved. Back then, we bought the whole album and not just a song or two off the web. It's gone it'll never be like that again.
We may have been the last generation to really enjoy our youth. No Cell phones, social media , hyper connectivity , radical groups , massive student loan debt .Just friends, hard work and great music!

80s kids also had it worse than future generations in many ways. Hell, I had to dig through an encyclopedia to learn anything. Education is way more fun and interesting these days. The 80's were different. Current generations are different. Each are better and worse in different ways. Just because something is different doesn't make it worse by default.

Steve Whiteman (Kix vocalist) gave singing lessons there. They were incredibly nice cool guys. I had to make myself get out there and meet people. I’m so glad I did. *Lyrics* 🎵 Whatcha doing out in the night time Why'd ya' call me on the phone Your mama can't solve your problems When's daddy ever gonna get home So you did your little move and cried In the middle of a suicide Don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes Don't sing your last lullaby There's no one there to hold you No one hears your scream You live life up and down Your nightmare's are your dreams I know it's lonely when your hanging 'round Don't ya' take it lying down - no, no Hold on - Hold on tight I'll make everything all right Wake up - Don't go to sleep I pray the lord your soul to keep Don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes Don't sing your last lullaby Don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes Don't sing your last lullaby
I'm 57 now and still listening and living in 1985, best years of my life and best long hair music! I'll still be head banging in my 90's if I make it there.
80s Masterpiece- and criminally underrated. Especially considering the gravity of the subject that’s underscored by the ferociously intense delivery. When you realize it’s a phone conversation with a person that just OD’d and the reality is hitting the person on the other end of the line Just Wow…
That is a long time Nicole. But I am right there with you. KIxx is from my home state and they are an awesome band to rock to in person. Who r ur faves?
I've never told anyone in my adult life, except my best friend, I played this song on repeat when I overdosed on pills when I was very much younger. Blessed I wasn't successful I have my beautiful 16yr daughter & my handsome adult 3 sons. God blessed me instead of taking me. Now I can listen to this song & I've let many many ppl know they're not alone. That's the meaning of this song, you're not alone, hold on there is ppl that love you. Very deep song...
@David Thank you very much & with me still living with depression & anxiety, I try to turn it to help teach how to deal & live with it. I am blessed with my children & I've been to a couple of their then teenager friends funerals from suicide that they were successful & I've watched those 15, 16 & 17yr olds grow up from 3yrs old. I couldn't have ever forgiven myself if I hurt that many ppl. They were great kids, very talented kids with very brite futures. Again, thank you very much. In this big huge world, somedays I still feel very alone.
Heard an interview with Steve Whiteman (lead singer) just this week. Said he wished he'd have known he'd still be singing this song into his late 60's... he would have tried singing it a little lower. Great interview. Great sense of humor. GREAT SONG!
I remember when this song first came out, in the 80s, when the suicide epidemic got bad. These guys have been saving lives with this song for, like, 30 years. Because a good solid classic rock group is never a dead group. I will always be a Kix fan.
No they did not save lives what lifes !? The government didnt care to save the life of minorities battling drug addiction only whites now they want to change the world this should've never happen .
Home town guys. They grew up in Baltimore Maryland. They truly were an underestimated group. It's a time for all good things to come to an end. That's exactly what happened this past Saturday night. September the 17, 2023. It all came down to this one and last time KIX played their last concert. Merryweather Post Pavilion was the destination to be.
One of the best songs if not the best by Kix. Love this song and that band. I grew up with these guys and it’s so cool to hang with them every now and then still to this day.

Always loved this song wasn't till today really it hit me reading the lyrics . Due fact my brother committed suicide 2 years ago just two days after my Birthday. I love you bro . Wish you called me talked to me . You were never alone.
This is the power ballad of all power ballads. I feel every note of the masterful solo. Steve's voice blows me away. I miss this type of music and these types of musicians.
Definitely a Power Ballad. Lyrically speaking, probably the best, an extremely close second "Give something to believe in" Poison but Instrumentally not as Powerful.
For ... what ... almost forty years...............this song has NEVER failed to send chills up my spine. It just did again. I just clicked play and the cold hand started tickling my back. UNCANNY!
I've listened to this song so many times with no issue before, I'm 31 years old, and tonight when I listened, it's like I'm a socially awkward kid after finding out i had depression, dealing with depression since I was 8. I'm so thankful for this song, I totally respect the people who want to make a stance, I love this.

By just Faith and the Grace of of Our Almighty Heavenly Father and Son I'm here to share with you all. God Bless you all who are going through this crazy disease and suffering with abandonment from family and friends who know that we're not the same way, but we have not been infected in any way in OUR PRECIOUS LOVING HEARTS THAT WE HAVE ALWAYS HAVE BEEN LOVING THEM ALL THE TIME WITH.
We did our homework right after school if we weren't on a school sports team so we could get into the local woods and creeks to have beebee gun wars go swimming and otherwise just have fun and mess about in our woods and creeks. Kids these days will never know that type of freedom, sadly.
Well said I've Bern thru some dark times to love playing this song try help me thru my saddness and pains to when I have a hard time dealing with bad things going on to..happy Holidays to..
Great rock song. Listened all the time to this kinda music back in the 80’s. I still listen to it, nothing quite like it. So grateful to have grown up in 60’s and 70’s and right into the 80’s. Best times ever..😊😊😊
This song and video are so frozen in time, it takes me straight back to a specific time and place when life was so amazing. Sure... it's a ballad and not meant to be happy, but I smile every time it plays. It's almost unbelievable how much our world has changed in such a short time, and not for the better in my opinion.
The 80s was the greatest I wish I could go back and show my son how music was better than today's music seriously I think I speak for everyone we all grew up way too damn fast seriously now some of us have kids think today's music is the best
Kix was always so underrated. Love, love, love. And after losing yet another friend last weekend to this f'ing disease of depression, I really needed this tonight.
My greatest Kix song of all time! I went through a lot of suicidal thoughts when this song came out and it would help me through tough times!!! I love y’all Kix!!!!
That darkness never does go away, not entirely. All we can do is move on from it, and look for the good shit in life to offset the bad...stay strong, brother.

Here I am getting divorced and wishing I had a relationship half of what either of yours was. At the point now with society the way it is that I’m not sure it’s possible.
I'm sorry for your lose too @@barrymckay940

If not forever, I think I could still listen to this song for half an eternity.
I agree ❤
I miss my nephew... he really did it! I cant believe it, he seemed so happy. love you Brandon.
80s was real. You could feel the music. Every rock band had there own ballet an they all had a feeling that come with each 1 an this no different. Kids these days will never understand that time as we did. ❤ it
80's ruled. We grey hairs look back at videos like this and remember it like it was yesterday. Best music decade ever!!!!!
Fucken best decade ever

So glad my dad gave me great taste in music
I surrounded my daughters with music from my generation 80s and early 90s and they absolutely love it especially my 32 yr old. She so wishes she could have appreciated it back then.
Be sure to tell him!

Kids nowadays have no idea what they are missing, especially our music. That's why these hits are still going strong...just like us.
Don’t worry there is a few of us out there about to turn 17 and still love hair metal

My mom died in 88’ I was 13 n I recorded this song on my answering machine! I attempted to take my life. Ty god I didn’t! I still miss her so much but I now have the life she wanted for me! Married 21 years, 20 n 18 year old wonderful boys! What a gift
So sorry for what must have been unimaginable pain. Glad you found a way back. Words could never replace the loss.
So sorry for your loss , I also attempted for different reasons and thank God I wasn't taken because it did actually eventually get much much better even though I lost my brother . When we do find that strength to hold on we do see that life truly is a gift. Bless you for sharing !

Whatcha doing out in the night time
Why'd ya' call me on the phone
Your mama can't solve your problems
When's daddy ever gonna get home
So you did your little move and cried
In the middle of a suicide
Don't close your eyes
Don't close your eyes
Don't sing your last lullaby
There's no one there to hold you
No one hears your scream
You live life up and down
Your nightmare's are your dreams
I know it's lonely when your hanging 'round
Don't ya' take it lying down - no, no
Hold on - Hold on tight
I'll make everything all right
Wake up - Don't go to sleep
I pray the lord your soul to keep
Don't close your eyes
Don't close your eyes
Don't sing your last lullaby
Don't close your eyes
Don't close your eyes
Don't sing your last lullaby

I'm 57 now and still listening and living in 1985, best years of my life and best long hair music! I'll still be head banging in my 90's if I make it there.
80s Masterpiece- and criminally underrated. Especially considering the gravity of the subject that’s underscored by the ferociously intense delivery.
When you realize it’s a phone conversation with a person that just OD’d and the reality is hitting the person on the other end of the line
Just Wow…
The members of KIX, I hope they know how many lives they have saved with this song.
I do agree .I miss those days
And are still saving to this day in 2021!!

Kept me going at my worst times, when everything seemed meaningless.

History repeats itself just maybe not in your life time.
So glad I grew up in the 80s.
Good song the 80s
I've never told anyone in my adult life, except my best friend, I played this song on repeat when I overdosed on pills when I was very much younger. Blessed I wasn't successful I have my beautiful 16yr daughter & my handsome adult 3 sons. God blessed me instead of taking me. Now I can listen to this song & I've let many many ppl know they're not alone. That's the meaning of this song, you're not alone, hold on there is ppl that love you. Very deep song...
🤣🤣🤣
@warofages210 y is my comment "🤣😂"???
Thanks God that you are alive. 🙏😊
You are Not Alone Brandy!
Dear God this song NEVER gets old!!!!!!
Great lyrics!
A lost forgotten gem from the 80s. Such a truthful power ballad dealing with suicide.
Heard an interview with Steve Whiteman (lead singer) just this week. Said he wished he'd have known he'd still be singing this song into his late 60's... he would have tried singing it a little lower. Great interview. Great sense of humor. GREAT SONG!
😂
I remember when this song first came out, in the 80s, when the suicide epidemic got bad. These guys have been saving lives with this song for, like, 30 years. Because a good solid classic rock group is never a dead group. I will always be a Kix fan.
No they did not save lives what lifes !? The government didnt care to save the life of minorities battling drug addiction only whites now they want to change the world this should've never happen .

From start to finish one of the best composed songs ever!

Hagerstown, not Baltimore. Both KIX and Child's Play called Hammerjacks their home. Hammerjacks was in Baltimore.

Yeah! I love Kix. I was listening to the Blow My Fuse album the other day painting and realized I had heard most of those songs before.
Nothing like the 80's and Music like This .... Nothing!.
How did we go from this to WAP? Power ballads of the 80’s are the best
Wireless access points?
Have you heard Leo Moracchioli's version of the WAP song?
today is just trash...
I hear ya
WAP isn't a power ballad though
A brutally underrated rock band of the last decade of great music.

For ... what ... almost forty years...............this song has NEVER failed to send chills up my spine.

Damn! 63 years old, just dropped the grandkids off with mama. Fire up a bowl, hit the Skid Row, Warrant, and now this. I'm in 88 again. Fuck yeah You Tube!! Thanks!
while everyone is doing songs about having a good time and partying and having a good time with the ladies.... this dudes come out and make a suicide prevention song..RESPECT !!!

Cool. I live In Cumberland. I remember watching Funny Money perform after Kix disbanded.
Nothing like the power ballads anymore.
This is a beautiful beautiful sad song. Monster Ballad. And Steve Whiteman incredible voice! ❤😢
He had one helluva voice, but man he was a Dick in high school...fr
Kix first album was soooo good! Should have been a huge success.
We did our homework right after school if we weren't on a school sports team so we could get into the local woods and creeks to have beebee gun wars go swimming and otherwise just have fun and mess about in our woods and creeks. Kids these days will never know that type of freedom, sadly.
Truth was the best 👌

This song and video are so frozen in time, it takes me straight back to a specific time and place when life was so amazing. Sure... it's a ballad and not meant to be happy, but I smile every time it plays. It's almost unbelievable how much our world has changed in such a short time, and not for the better in my opinion.
This was greatness in every way. Definitely their best song ever
The 80s was the greatest I wish I could go back and show my son how music was better than today's music seriously I think I speak for everyone we all grew up way too damn fast seriously now some of us have kids think today's music is the best
