      "bad knees" exist because they aren't trained properly. I have met people who can squat ATG literally without an ACL or MCL from being hit by a car. Knees generally don't go bad. They get bad from skipping leg day and having imbalances.

    • @zepintoferreira8431
      @zepintoferreira8431 Рік тому +1

      I've been managing two abdominal hernias for a couple of years (did not want surgery during covid) and these should be...a bit better but not much.
      Whenever you are lifting very heavy you will engage a valsalva reflex and increase your abdominal pressure. If you are prone to herniation there is a chance you eventually will cause one. I did, two.
      Best things I have found to manage these:
      1) leg press instead of squatting/deadlifting, with torso caved in a bit.
      2) never going under 10 reps at rpe 7 so I control exertion/valsalva conciously
      3) lunges/atg squats for 10 are king.
      4) no amount of technique can prevent hernias. They just happen when the tissue is under enough load. In my case, I was born with an abnormally separated abdominal wall, so I'll have to keep them in mind when lifting heavy.

    I would not listen to this individual about squats. Your spine is designed not to compress by putting weights on your back, no matter how good your form is or the load. Basically, don’t squat more than 100 lbs on your back. Barbell squats will screw your back up almost as bad as car accident, just slower. Do Belgian or belt squats instead. Do not compress your spine. As you get older, the discs naturally get smaller and the flexibility goes down. It’s from our bodies not being able to retain water like we use to, and the natural cycle of wear and tear. Go look at Ronnie Coleman, enough said.

    What’s a good excerisw that can really target your quads? Barbell squats, leg press, and hack squats don’t really do it for me and I don’t feel my legs being worked on no matter how much weight I do or if I have a negative descent
