Awesome this worked perfect, replaced the switch took care of the recall. 2007 Jeep Commander Sport. No more flashing lights on dash. This is easy to do yourself.
Well it was not my car so I had to try to be as careful as I could not to yank on the other wires in the way. And I'm not perfect this is just how this one went so I'm not worried about showing the problems I have like the other poster mentioned.
What was the reason you replaced it? Did it fix electrical issues in the dash cluster, windows, lights, blinkers,horn, radio, if it had those issues? Thank You!
@@myshots101 my brakes work lol. My tachometer, odometer, speedometer, thermostat gauge, wipers, driver and passenger front widows, sun roof, none work. All of my warning dash lights are on. My heater blower only works when I open or close the door after turning the car on. This happened while I was driving. My alarm was going off and all the lights were blinking, horn beeping. It seems like the front door opening or closing it for the first time after starting is triggering something. I have no idea. I’m going to disconnect the battery for an hour and see if it clears itself.
@@akaredcrossbow You definitely will need to plug in a scanner to check it. You can clear the codes sometimes but the problem will still be there until you fix it. Hard to know without a scanner since a lot of the circuits are connected now.
Please be patient. The ignition ONLY comes out AND goes back in ONE WAY, their is NO wiggle room. Be careful of the wires. TAKE YOUR TIME it took me 1 hour. DO NOT RUSH THIS.
The problem here was not the switch but the starter. In your case, just check the basics first. Starting with putting a scanner on the car, then checking the transmission fluid level since that's what you are getting. I found these cars to show a bunch of different codes that may not have anything to do with the problem you're looking at. It may be something else so you need to watch out for those but you would need to still fix whatever those other things are.

Before replacing it, did the dashboard came on when turn the key on, or was it totally dead
It came on. Not dead. It turned out to be the starter.
One other thing.. It’s up to you but I only used hand tools not power tools and since I had everything off I cleaned.. lol 😂😂
I have a 2007 commander and the same part needs to be replaced. Is it necessary to do coding after replacement?
No you don't need coding if I remember right. It just helps to have a scanner with newer cars.

@@ericmartines4373 I think the owner got the oem part from the dealer. I honestly can't remember but I think it was an oem part.

The brake lights were not working on the car and this fixed it.

I have a no start sometimes it will but if I jump the starter relay it will but keeps say trans over temp

No nothing. It works just the same but unfortunately that was not the problem this time. It was a bad starter.
