BTW, Roanoke was a real colony in the United State's colonial time. It was one of the first colonies but when a ship came back to bring them supplies one time the entire town had vanished. There were only 2 clues left, the word 'Croatoan' carved into a gatepost, which was one of the local native tribes, and the letters 'Cro' carved on a tree. Most people belive that they either willingly left with the Croatoan tribe or were kidnapped. There are also theories that they died from a plague or died of starvation in the winter. But to this day, nobody knows what actually happened.
I remember learning that from a Buzzfeed Unsolved episode. This really sent me back lol.
Well that tribe later on had more European traits so...

When i first started watching you play, my husband asked why I didn't just watch someone else play who would upload faster and I said "Screw you, I only want to watch Gab play it because she plays like I do and I love her commentary." Gab, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I wanted to suggest you two hauntings cases that I found interesting!
“Hanging Time”. The side quest with Goody Perkins from the Harrows. It starts by that shipwreck. Such a unique quest that plays with time + it sheds more light on Deborah’s death.
“Through a Glass Darkly”. The Rumballs family in the Mount Pleasant, near that house (the Bligh manor) that you see west of Fort Jericho. Quest involves some cursed mirror and the decision time is… interesting. Can’t say much without spoiling!

I do not think banishing the capitan was the correct option, as far as I understood the story, he was under the impression that the people on the mines were better than they really were, Preese was the tyrant officer that locked everyone in and was saving food and water to escape at the last moment and get to be the hero. I also got the impression that the capitan was still sending them food and resources but perhaps Preese was selling in the black market insted of giving it to the people?
Of course it was horrible what the capitan did to Deborah but back then that was the process and he seemed convinced that she was the witch, and everyone else pushed it as well, not just him.

If the soundtrack reminds you of what it reminds me of, it's Dragon Age Inquisition. Trevor Morris did the music for both games, and some of his favored motifs and progressions pop up in both. I'm sure you mean a different game, but my ears kept perking up while I was playing Banishers because I kept hearing a few little notes together that sounded soooo familiar.
I noticed Gab said Antea did not gain any skill points during this episode. Antea actually gains them from sidequests.

I agree that the end to that whole storyline was really weird. Like, the structure of the ending really rushes you to "Pennington must be deposed" or "Preese is compromised" with no option for "you're both messed up." If you side against Preese, is it another Spare/Blame choice? If so, that feels super wrong. I'd hoped for an option where maybe Preese learns the truth about "Sebastian" and she and Pennington work together to find some better way forward. (For that matter, I wonder how much of the following Red-and-Antea scene is specific to a Blame judgment there, or if it really is just about how close to the end of the game you are.)

I think it's a bit of both; they probably would have had a serious talk after that quest because they are near the end, but because she chose blame, the conversation was negative 🤔 I also don't like that aspect of the game: the talking at the end doesn't let you chose what to say or ask as much as you think! It's like Red thinks one thing and then says the other 😂
I spared Pennington and he does try to be better. Helen is spared but I think she has to leave the camp. She survives though.
@@StanLeeFan12 I'd say she ends up with a more interesting, and perhaps better, future if you choose to spare Pennington. I felt bad at first, but then felt like I chose the better path.

That last part when they're fighting hurts my heart. Antea is definitely hurting and panicking, Red is trying to keep his calm and don't want to rush things out because she will be gone once The Nightmare is gone. But I love their dynamics, so natural and organic. The part where she talks about gender and race is so deep and real, I bet her being a ghost must've made her more angry and resent the world but I really wish she understood Red's POV more because he's been walking alongside his beloved and knows she can lose herself or her mind in a second. She said it herself at the beginning, a ghost will be a ghost, the one they're love is no longer there. Such a cool game ughhh

Gab, maybe looking up a "coolest quests you shouldn't miss out on" guide could be interesting? that way tou still get a bit of side content (which has been great) but you also don't get overwhelmed

Sorry, but I'm disappointed that you don't wanna do the side quests anymore. They bring much more story to the game and level up the characters.

I'm really loving this series, and Gab just makes it better! Listening to her while I work is like being in the same room as friend playing a game, you just chill together as you do your own separate things. Also, was getting some heavy Resident Evil vibes with the snow. LOVE the atmosphere in the game!

I really wish you'd made a different choice in the end. Regardless of what Pennington did, you made a commitment to help Antea ascend. The game provided multiple chances to affirm the commitment or change it, and you affirmed it. To make a choice for the opposite path feels wrong. I guess that's the point of the game though, to be faced with difficult choices and see if you can stick to your commitment.
Aside from posture being a matter of habit / practice, it is also about having the muscles to give you the support.

I know Gab said the soundtrack reminded her of an older game but for me the part that she pointed out sounds like Pirates of the Caribbean. Not the main theme but it has some of that adventure sad whimsical feel that potc has.

Whenever I watch a video of this Let's Play it's so easy to get sucked back into it! The story and it's mysteries just keep me curious and then when it gives the answers it's revealed with great enemy designs and visuals! It's so cool!
Edit: also interesting detail...Antea isn't grabbing Red's hand anymore when you check out of resting from a bonfire. Or am I only noticing it just now?

My first human sacrifice was Haskell. I couldn't stand the man. But I sort of felt bad afterwards, so I spared Pennington, even though he is a bad person.
I would suggest, that someone said already, that you do at least all the hauntings. They are really interesting.
Myself, I cleared the map 100% (all cursed chests, all locked chests, all collectables, activated all shelters, all the hauntings, all the side quests, all the points of interests, all treasure maps and all soul grabbers) I reached level 25 with all equipment at top level and that made the final fight really easy. But all of this also took me a bit over 100 hours to complete the game and that is time that I feel that when you are doing this, it is way too many hours. There will be too many episodes.
But this is a very beautiful game that I really enjoyed playing. 😀
I went to Pennington first and spared him, but then sacrificed Haskell cause he got on my nerves 😆
