It was a bad ending for me. And how do I choose between a good and a bad ending?
i went for the resurrection ending knowing that it wouldn't be the best, and i abslutely loved it. Every time meeting a new person knowing i will eventually kill them (i didnt blame only 3 of them) was devastating for me. I dont want to say that this game changed my life... but changed how i ser NPC's i guess
Such an outstanding game, I hope the devs get the credit they deserve. In my 95% completion I had the typical open world fatigue by the end but that came on in the last few hours and was ready to be done with it but overall very surprised how good it was. I did the resurrection ending and was satisfied with it, but agree with your descriptions the best ending is the ascension one.
I went for the resurrection. However, the bad ending is very good since takes the player to re-live the loop as if they were playing a Remedy game!
Bad endings are definitely bad, but I wouldn't have guessed they cycle into the game, nor seeker being a younger version. Good game, and I really liked the ascendant ending, since it holds true to what their ethics are. Definitely painful, but all losses are.
I'm happy with my ending where i revived her back and they lived again to renew their love
I like it too, but you also remeber they now both have a taste for forbidden knowledge and power
I’ve got the ascent oath fulfilled ending without finishing half of the haunt cases! Now i loaded my last checkpoint and finishing them. Excellent game and my rating is 8/10!

This game has such a good ending (and possibly loop if you get "bad" ending). Great storytelling and way to wrap it up.
Damn I almost cried again with the best ending ascent, I had this ending yesterday and it was so beautiful..
It's sad you can't continue the game after that, cuz it brings you back to the fight with the Nightmare 😫
you can continue it. just go to the load games and load the part just before the void travel and manually save it.
i got the best ending in my party, so glad of it :D So cool to see the other endings, very interessant one when we failed our oath ! and Siridean :O , such a surprise and good idea ( I remember her words the first time we met her !) . So, happy to have the best one, but the bad one is to be se seen !

Her ascending is the perfect ending.
The only "good endings" are the ascend endings.
Bringing her back to life is not good if you actually pay attention to what's said.

Just a opinion but the 22:27 is the best ending in my opinion as it shows their humanity more than the "best" one.
Red doubting himself at the very end feels like something most people would do even if he goes through with the ascent still.

I got the full ascend ending and so happy with it after watching the other options (although I cried while watching lol).
6th ending idea: you can banish Antea😂 wonder what Charles would have to say about that
Does anyone know how many ghosts to ascend for the ascent ending? As I blamed everyone in my first playthrough and brought antea back to life. I have all trophies except for the other ending and was just wondering if anyone knew how many as I don't really wanna do all the haunting cases again lol

how many souls do we need to ascent for the farewell my love trophy? i got the death is a journey trophy. i loaded the game and said ascent. how many souls do i need to ascent after that. the ones after that count, right? Because I have blamed before that.
Did you follow my guide on PSNProfiles.com? If yes, load the save you created before choosing the final oath. Then select "Ascend" as your final promise. → In the "A Hellbound Heart" haunting case (story-related) choose to banish Alexander. → At the end of the "The Inkwell" Main Quest choose to spare Governor Fairefax Haskell → Finish the game
That will only work if you have followed my guide and chosen the exact decisions. If you didn't, then do 2-3 more haunting cases where you banish. You definitely don't need to do as much as you did for the "Death is a Journey" ending, but there is no exact number I can give you.
@@wolker4 I did "The Inkwell" Main Quest before and I blamed Haskel. Do we have to spare Haskel in this quest? Can I leave Haskel as blame and ascent the others? In the "A Hellbound Heart I'll do it like you said.
@@emreboran9431 If you choose to ascend the others, that should work as well I guess, but as I mentioned, do 2-3 extra haunting cases where you ascend. And make sure to always choose only one of these options-either Ascend or Banish-as there is an ending for both options (Both give you the 'Farewell, my love' trophy), but if you mix them up, you might get the BAD ending.
Hard to explain 😅Let me know if it worked for you. If not, reload the save before entering the "Point of No Return" and do a few more haunting cases.

So... I'm confused the endings are based on the promises made in the beginning and in the middle of the game or it's based on the souls you ascent, ban, kill? I got the 3rd one I promised Antea to ascent her 2x when asked and mixed between kills and ascent souls.
1st ending = you promise to bring her back and you bring her back to life. (kill ppl)
2nd ending = you promise to ascent her and you ascent. (spare and ascent all souls)
3rd ending = you promise to ascent her and you ascent (mixing spare/kill)
4th ending = you promise to ascent her, but bring her back to life??? (spare everybody?)
5th ending = you promise to bring her back to life, but ascent her??? (killed everybody?)
I think for 1st to 3rd you are correct, for 4th ending you promise bring her back to life, but maybe becauce you mix spare/kill/ascent you failed the oath, the 5th i think, not sure, someone correct me if i am wrong, if you promise to ascent her, but through the game you kill and sacrifice ppl, thus you failed again your oath and you get the 5th ending.
It sounds like you killed too many people. I believe there's a certain number you need to be successful for 1 and 2. For 3, I believe you get partial credit but not enough ascends/banishes to get the best ascend ending. 4 and 5 you didn't get enough ascends/banishes or blames as relevant for your oath. I got the second ending (the best ascend ending) and I blamed 3 (2 asked for it), banished 1 or 2, and ascended everyone else.
ETA: After reading some other comments, I'm not sure it works that way. Some people blamed everyone and didn't get the first ending so there seems to be some nuance.
I got the 2nd ending. Spared everyone and ascended all the ghosts except one. It was the ghost of the person that used to beat his wife.

Where DontNod really excel with this game is the portray of a tragic relationship torn by death. Antea and Red are such strong characters. I enjoyed every little piece of backstory. Sadly the gameplay felt very repetitive in the end. But overall it's not the usual open world experience. It's an excellent tale ❤️
How the hell do you get the good ending ?!
I feel that the Ascend ending is the most "in character" ending so I went with it.
For me, bringing Antea back to life is the best ending
A question: Do I need a good or bad ending for death is a journey and ferewell my love trophies?
You need the resurrection ending for the „Death is a journey“ trophy. For the „Farewell my love“ trophy you need one of the Ascend endings. The bad endings don’t unlock any trophy.

@wolker4 you got a guide on this game for getting both trophies in one playthrough, and I ascent 3 ghosts and blame 2 people, but if I need another playthrough I don't mind
@fenixyt8439 Then make a manual save before the final promise, keep choosing the ascent option and focus on the main storyline. Once you get the „Farewell my love“ trophy, reload the save and keep choosing the blame option (need to do some additional haunting cases for the resurrection ending).
Btw, apparently, it's not the "good" ending in the game. It's the "resurrection" ending. The "good" endings in the game are the "Ascend" endings. But everything else I told you is correct.

Blame and kill the alive people in the main line missions/Hauntings and choose the resurrection oath both times to get the Resurrection ending. The opposite to get the Ascent ending. If you flip-flop between killing the alive human and sparing them you get the bad ending.

i went to resurrection oath ending honestly i feel bad for those who blame after i learn about deborah in the end i kinda say they deserve to be blamed lol
I didn't like how the game handled the paths to the endings. The Ascend ending should be the "good ending" without further consequences (since it's clearly implied that Antea's hunger for souls continued in the Ressurrection ending). However, during the game, ascending or banishing ghosts and leaving the culprits alive actually leads to bad outcomes, sometimes worse than if you just kill them. In other words, Antea and Red ruined people's lives around them, regardless of which ending you achieved.
I feel the resurrection Is the canonical ending so there can be a sequel, but the bad ending feels more correct with the flow of the story. Time loops, nightmares, amnesia.. And red going through it again and again and again in end endless cycle of anguish, agony and horror.
I got oath failed bad ending duck it !!!! 😢😢 and i done all cases with blame....everything was for nothing....
How many haunting cases did you complete? You need to complete at least 13 haunting cases and always choose the blame option.
I completed f***king 17 cases all of them with blame !!!!! @wolker4 not to mention i killed everyone who stood in my way with blame !!! Yet i got the bad ending...guess the true ending is like a lottery not everyone is lucky and loved enough by god to get or win something good..i for example i was always the unlucky ones and the worst things always happened to me in general...so it was obvious i will get the bad ending no matter what i do in this game...😢

Antes was annoying, and honestly kind of a bitch to Red.
She starts off with the girl-boss attitude where the game makes sure you’re aware she’s in charge and more powerful. She constantly brings up that she’s the “wrong” gender or skin color…more woke PC garbage. She lied to Red and avoided telling him what was going on with her family, her home life, Calendre, etc. She was short and mean to him toward the end. She resented him. She was upset at him when he was just trying to spare his own feelings and she said “I never thought of it like that”…
I brought her back, but honestly toward the end, I would have been ok with banishing her haha…or the ascension. I didn’t feel attached to her at all.
I killed everyone and promised her to bring her back, but got the worst ending (4th one) ...wtf

@@wildrouseacer i love the game. 10/10, but it disappointed me due to the fact I intentionally "killed" everyone just that I can bring her back but the she didn't come back.
@@oncorpse2987 i killed 20 targets at least i swore on oath to bring her back i was with her i done everything i killed everyone yet i got the bad ending i dont understand nothing anymore...i feel i m cursed to get only bad endings ! wtf i done wrong ?!?!?!
@@oncorpse2987 same man i done the same...yet not just she didnt came back i was also killed by the glass pieces..the good thing even in this crap ending is that i m dead too and i m reunited with antea in spirit realm so we can both go to heaven :)
