How to Play 7th Chords on Guitar

- What's so dominant about the dominant 7 chord, you ask? Allow me to explain. A flat 7 means you take the seventh note in the major scale and scoot it down by one. When you add that flat 7 to any major chord, you get a dominant 7, or seventh chord.
I feel like people don't appreciate enough how much of a music theory nerd sean is.
:) agreed.
Pewdiepie giving guitar lessons?? Yes, pls!!!
Haha, thanks :)
hi there, can u jam to this? ua-cam.com/video/GmcFplKtDz8/v-deo.html

Ant-man giving guitar lessons?? Yes, pls!!!
Honestly he looks more like Star-Lord to me
Thank you man you're a star.
Thanks so much!
Well, that rocked
This was so helpful again man any chance you could do one for minor 7ths? Or maybe even a video on harmonizing the major scale with 7th chords?
+Conor Spierin Yeah definitely, I for sure will have a minor 7 one up here in the next week or so, and I'll start thinking something up for the whole scale, too. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the lesson
Always happy to help!
Love his shadow vowels
That's good, cause there are a lot of them.
Thanks Sean!
Happy to help Abram!
Does the implied 1 or 5 notes only work when the remaining notes have a 1 or 5 on the lowest string of the remaining notes? I have tried simply removing the 1 and 5 from other forms than the ones that you demonstrated and those seem to be the ones that work.
really helpful!
Thanks for watching!
The most important notes are here the f and the b note, because of the tritone distance, giving the essential tension in the DOM 7 chords
Right on!
OK , thanks!
Sean,, good lessons, send your channel at some musicians friends in progress.

Why would people give a thumbs down? Dummies...... thumbs up bud great explanation
Turning the II chord into a dominant 7 sounds good too. The flat 7 note on the II chord is the same as the root note.
Great tip!
nice vid man.. !
Thanks Hitesh!
Oh! I get it. Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
hilarious intro, thank you..
Thank you for the support :)
Wouldn't it be easier to play the minor natural scale to find the 7th note within a scale? It means you don't have to scoot the 7th note down a half step when you're in the major scale.
Any tips on barre chords for dominant 7 chords? I feel like I have a good grasp on major and minor barre chords but when it comes to E and A string dom 7 barre chords, I can’t get all the notes to sound out properly. 😒
Try watching this one to help:

A bit confused. I am just learning but have my minor pentatonic scales down and want to add some 7 chords. Am7 for instance...looks like it takes off the root A leaving the open G. So down the neck I just sub a G for an A. ACE becomes GCE?
Yup, then you have a C major chord (any combo of C E and G)
Where can you find videos that teach you where your fingers go instead of trying to build up a 9/16 7 mm 4 1/2 divided by 7 to the frequency of the third trimester?
We're "implying" the D.
As it so often is.
Do you have a video about diminished and augmented chords???
ua-cam.com/video/PSW1OmxoZNo/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/zA8pVC_tPt8/v-deo.html
This video is a bit advanced for me can u recommend a beginner one of your videos so I can understand theory
R there dominor 4;5:6;8;and so on???
You speak my language
Maybe I'm missing something, hopefully somebody can explain but right here: 10:53 he says "it's an E7" but wouldn't this be a flat 7? looks like he is playing the B on the A string and the G# on the G and everything else open. But that D string is open not D# (the 7th) so he has E,B,D,G#,B,E wouldn't a 7th be moving that D up a half step?
Wait, do you have TV adverts for prescription drugs in your country??? How does that work?
I'm pretty sure the way it works is that some giant business just throws tons of cash around and BOOM! Prescription drugs :)
Half the time the side effects are worse than what it is treating. LOL. They are bad ads!
Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison is based on this mode
Classic song!
why is he so underrated😭😭😭
Hello farzana
thanks for this , just an advice for the future, maybe go a bit slower when you show the chords inversions so that we can follow along
