    Joel Stroetzel, Adam Dutkiewicz, and Mike D’Antonio of Killswitch Engage met with PG's Perry Bean before their 2016 tour stop in Asheville, North Carolina, at the Orange Peel-where the trio gladly breezed through their barebones-but-brutal setups.
    Thanks to his guitar brother on the other side of the stage, Adam Dutkiewicz currently plays Caparison. (Joel has been a longtime user, and Adam fell in love with his instruments.) His main guitar is a custom 2016 Caparison TAT Special FX that has a few factory mods, including vintage-style frets, a single Fishman Fluence Modern humbucking pickup, and one master volume control. Dutkiewicz has been consistently using D’Addario EXL115 .011-.049 strings on his guitars.
    Although Stroetzel loves and uses his signature Caparison, his main guitar on the band’s current tour has been this 2015 Caparison Custom Dellinger with Fishman Fluence Modern humbuckers.

    KsE is my absolute favorite band and I have seen them live 5 times. But at every show the sound guys crank the volume up so loud that everything is so muddy you can't hear the detail of any song. I'm not sure why they do that at metal gigs. I'd much rather have a lower volume and be able to hear all the sweet riffage.

    • @danielmarsden777
      @danielmarsden777 4 роки тому +6

      Wherethe2riversmeet wear ear plugs man 👍🏻 screw what people think, you can hear it so much better.

    • @nateiverson8681
      @nateiverson8681 2 роки тому +2

      It can be hard to hear the detail when you're playing in drop C. A lot of mud down there. Mostly because more overtones are audible in the human hearing range for lower notes. Hypothetically you can get all 12 pitches by overtones. Furthermore these notes are not equal tempered (they are just intonation). So they will make the notes wider and muddier. This is why most bass chords you see people play are well up the neck from open chords. So my money is on the muddiness being more a side effect of the arrangement and how the instruments work live as opposed to what they do for studio recording.

    You're not really gonna see that pedal in too many "metalcore" (god i hate that word) bassists "bag of tricks" nowadays. Just realized this is 6 years old so he may not even be using it anymore...a ton of KsE's sound has changed from album to album but if he's still using it then that's pretty friggin awesome! A lot of players switching to Fishman pups. I might try a set of moderns.

    I know its a stupid question, but why many metal guitarrists put a piece of foamon the head stock? Has something to do with harmonics? Thx

      Yep it mutes the excess noise that can come from high volumes. You see it more often now with every genre like Victor Wooten uses a hair tie on his basses

    Hey guys I love your videos, F the haters. Could you ask all these guitar people if they have tinnitus? just wondering how many of them have ear problems since they're exposed to loud environments quite often. Cheers!

    This interviewer seems rushed in all the Premier Guitar videos.

      He's having to work to the time frame of the band. Unfortunately the band have to soundcheck, and deal with press in a small space of time, so it means the interviews can be rushed at times.
