Tryg has been one of my all time fav players and is such a good hang! I remember mixing him like a decade ago and hearing him use that PS5 and being like...WHAT is that thing??! Such a great find. I'm currently using the '64 black into a Noble (both on!) as really they are two different things (amp sim vs class A preamp w/ tone stack) and if you are feeling gluttonous... that is the *chefs kiss*
Man you could tell from the energy of the video that you both was in your element and just having fun. Really enjoyed this video. What half rounds was on his 70’s bass? I actually thought they was d’addario chromes. Also you should do a video on the vaseline trick for strings
Hi Philip amazing video! I just wanted to say how much you’ve inspired me! I’ve found my love for bass because of you and I’ve recently got accepted in to music school.
What great fun to "sit in" while you guys have a grand time playing around with nifty gear that sounds SOOOO groovy. My new favorite bass channel. Thank the algorithm! 🙌
Good vid, guys, as always. And definitely would enjoy a vid on the Capo. I'm always on the quest for the Holy Grail of preamp pedals, and I am curious about that one. Cheers!
I get a similar sound as the PS5 using an expression pedal with the pitch shifter in the HX Stomp. I have it set for one octave drop, then I can switch it to 2 octaves up for sweep sounds. I got that from Doug Wimbush
I've been playing half-rounds for like 10 years now, freaking love'em. They get a lot of hate and honestly I understand some of it, but it's great to see someone talking about them lmao
I heard the Harmonist PS 6 tracks better an octave down, which is better for bass anyway? Anyone has experience with both ps 5 and ps 6 ? What about ps 2 and ps 3 with delay function? They sound like fun too! Oh gosh! Too many options 😂😂😂
Interesting, this could be used to have fast portamento effect similar to synth. I was thinking about digitech riccochet for getting these type of effect.
While we're on the topic of Boss, try out that new BP-1w out. Got it for my brother and had to try it on Bass and was pretty pleasantly surprised! Funny you mention rounds on P basses too, I used exclusively rounds on mine for years. Fresh Lo Riders on a P, into a wide open SVT. Everyone should experience that. And while we're now on SVTs... checked out a SansAmp VT Bass DI and had my mind blown. Knew about it for years but sort of ignored it since I had a BDDI v2 already. That was a mistake. I think there's a swap in my future soon. Noble... I don't know what to make of it anymore. I feel like it caused a massive storm that made people catch up super fast. Rising tide raises all boats for sure there. I think if I were really pressed though, I might take the Bass Rig over it these days.
I’ve never heard of this trick. So you just put some vaseline or lanolin on string to speed up the broken I. Process? I love the sound of broken in rotosound Swing66 bass rounds. If I could get that sound off the jump 🤗
@@soulstart89 Swing66 is also my go-to, and yes, this is gonna change your life. Just coat the string before you install it, wiping off any egregious excess. Voilà, you've got a pretty close approximation of broken in strings. No more suffering through ugly new string sound!
@@sumeursault oh my days!!!! You absolute legend. Just did the Vaseline trick on my swingbass 66 stings 😍😍😍😍😍🤗🤗. Exactly how I want them to sound. Also rotosound out of the packet are horrible on the fingers. I struggle to be motivated to play a fresh pair.
Try putting a DOD Meatbox pedal after this one when playing over a good PA (please don’t have these effects over your typical bass rig!). When I use a lot of sub bass effectpedals live, I won’t bring bass cabinets, but bring one or two of my HK Premium Pro 2x10 PA cabs with their low pass filters removed... They can handle the subs with ease. 🖖
Omg after watching this video (like an hour after it was posted) there were 3 listed for sale on Reverb in the states, now (only a couple hours later) all of them have sold 😂😂😂
I let a 70s maple Precision go back around '95. One of my worst bass decisions ever. I picked it up at a bargain price, £180, to keep gigging while my Wal was being worked on, resprayed. Then I went and sold it to a student for much the same money, maybe £20 more.
There's no denying that the Noble is a great bass preamp, but there are any number of other bass preamps on the market that sound just as good, if not better, for a lot less money with immediate availability.
i found a ps5 in a dumpster outside my practice space years and years ago. had been thrown away because one of the wires connecting to the output had been disconnected. resoldered and it has found a permanent home on my board since that day.
Great video! One suggestion: ditch the DI sound on bass videos!! Always sounds so much better ”in the room” and with todays iphones etc it’s not a problem at all. (Also you can the talk over it 😂 ) This always bugs me with bass videos in general and with content as good as this, I think it would be even better. Keep it up ! Edit : just realized you did feature both sounds.
What a delightful video and man... That PS-5 is such a gem. Thanks for the incredibly kind words for the BASSRIG, we truly appreciate it!

Thanks for making great stuff for the bass player community!
@ihateyourguts username checks out
I really enjoy this format. Nothing more fun than getting together with friends and talking gear and making weird sounds. Haha.
So fun! Thanks for watching
@johnmadere -- Exactly what I wanted to say. The format is very refreshing. So well edited. Has a nice flow.
@@philipconradmusic this! More friends, more weird noises, please!
oh my god. im so happy to see both of these faces in one video.
🙂
This was so much fun! You two are hilarious together!!
Thanks! I always love hanging out with Trygve. Hope to have him back on the channel soon 🤞
Awesomesauce! Looking forward to y’all’s next video together!
This was a treat. Top tier gear talk!
Thanks for watching!
An authentic and faithful bromance soft tape. Your enjoyment are contagious.

You have extravagant and fine taste my old friend! I bet that sounds sick ⚡️
Great video, you guys had a blast .

Always a pleasure to watch!
Hi Philip amazing video! I just wanted to say how much you’ve inspired me! I’ve found my love for bass because of you and I’ve recently got accepted in to music school.
Congratulations! Thanks so much for being here. Making these videos for people just like you. Glad to have you a part of the channel!
That's rad, good for you!
In one hour, the price for the PS-5 is averaging $140. Josh Scott would be proud.
Whoops 🤷♂️
Love watching you guys geek out! So awesome! 😁😁😁
Thanks for hanging out with us!

Welcome! So glad to have you here ⚡️
This is the first video of seen of this channel. I subscribed and hope there are more videos like this.
Thanks for subscribing! Glad to have you here ⚡️
this and a sansamp are the only pedals I have on my board (and a tuner of course)
Man I dont understand how you don't have more subscribers than this, all your content is so cool!
Thanks so much! Glad to have you here
Don't just get sambuca again
Yes! I love the Capo too! I'd love a video watching you both go through it because I feel like an area I'm not utilizing is the FX loops on it
🫡
Good stuff! That is one happy dude & I love it 🙌

Love this content !! First time i know about this pedal
harmony was obsessed with those switches. my stratotone has that too
Interesting
Yea yea the Capo pedal. But what's in the Earthquaker Devices box on your desk? I hope it's the special cranker. I love mine for bass.
LOL TRYGVE even makes bass face when somebody else is playing his bass! 5:51
😆
Bro, that 2+ octave is so much fun. I'd run that through modulation and tons of reverb for ambient stuff.
Absolutely!
Saw Trygve play live for Sam Burchfield and his bass face is literally iconic
Truly iconic!
Janek Gwizdala's baby elephant sound! amazing pedal
I’d love to hear more about the Capo!
On the way!
Am I the only one looking around in the video for Ariel Posen at @5:16?

i need one of those. ordering it right now
Do it!

100% capo video! I just ordered one 😊
i went to go buy a ps-5 on reverb like a day after this posted and they were sold out lol.
Interesting, this could be used to have fast portamento effect similar to synth. I was thinking about digitech riccochet for getting these type of effect.

please Capo. Vs Origin ...
16:15 I have no idea what he is laughing at. I use the SV and '64 in stereo.
May I ask you a good brand for halfwounds? In Korea, bass players don't use them. I am willing to try
I personally use D’Daddario half rounds. I hope you get a chance to try some; they are a great hybrid option!
@@philipconradmusic Ty!

Love these bass bros
🙂
5:48 even when hes not playing he can´t help to make the bass face
😆
I want a T-Shirt that says: “Don’t Fight the Bass Face”
I think they actually forgot there was a camera in the room a few times and were totally in the vibe of the conversation
What is the CAPO?!!!
Oh, and what an epic BASS FACE, BRO!
Standby ⚡️
The neck of his P is post ‘75/‘76. I guess ‘77/‘78. The type of lettering on the headstock shows this.

It’s true! He’s great
trygve is one of the goodest of guys
funk is in the GUUUUUURNK!!
Nice video
Thanks!
He’s giving off very “limo driver from blank check” vibes…
I just want more of the two of you. This was better than Key & Peele
🙏🏻
Janek’s “baby elephant” pedal.
I want a Capo Video.
🫡
Flats on a P are amazing, have you ever tried Thomastik Jazz Flats on one? Also, what is the Vaseline trick?
Haven’t tried those. Sean Hurley has a cool video about it. Basically you accelerate the break-in period by putting Vaseline on the strings.
I use TIs on a couple of Ps, I never really felt the need to accelerate the break in period. Just keep playing, they will get there 😊

So what I'm gathering from watching this video, is that Phil has an evil twin. Got it.

Another Video on How to make a $10 pedal, into a $1000 pedal.
Hahaha, I keep my pick in the very same place tucked under the pickguard. Blue starpick on a Pbass!
